Northern VA still wating on Oath Ceremony Date
Is anyone in Northern VA still awaiting their Oath Ceremony date? There has to be someone else going through the same wait time as me! My interview was on July 26, 2019. I have received a few schedules for an oath ceremony, but they were later descheduled. Is Fairfax or the USCIS offices in Northern VA always backed up?

I moved and updated my address from Virginia to Washington state, and back to Virginia which caused a delay and some confusion for both state offices. I had to take two naturalization interviews which I both passed, one in Washington state on March 27, 2019 and one in Virginia on July 26, 2019 due to the confusion. I reached out to VA's Senator as well to see if they can help in any way, but was basically told to wait it out.

If there is any one else going through the same wait time, please share, let's compare.

Thank you!

Decision can not be made / wait 4 months / Chicago
They won’t make decision on my case N400 for almost 120 days.
I called USCIS customer service and the representative suggested to
write the letter to Vermont USCIS attention: :VAWA
But my interview was taken place in Chicago and I live in Chicago.

First of all, why my paperwork is at Vermont center? when my interview was in Chicago close to my area.

Second, I never applied for VAWA but my case based on marriage then divorced.

So now, should I just wait until 120 days come or write the letter to Vermont USCIS to find out like the customer service line suggested me??

Houston Field Office Naturalization Interview
We had our citizenship interview yesterday at the Houston Field Office. Place and personnel was very nice and friendly all the time, starting from the security officers to the IOs. We were 4 of us and we were interviewed by three different officers and the three of them were very nice, kind and polite.

My interview was literally 17 mins long. First I was put on oath then the IO asked me for my GC, driver license and passports. Also asked me for the appointment letter. Immediately she explained the process and started with the civic test questions.

I got asked:

- What month do we vote for President?
- What is an amendment?
- What is the “rule of law”?
- What are the two major political parties in the United States?
- What is one reason colonists came to America?
- Name one state that borders Mexico.

Following, the IO asked me to read a sentence on the iPad. The sentence was "Who lives in the White House?"

Then the IO asked me to write down on the iPad " The President lives in the White House"

After that the IO congratulated me for passing the English and Civic test. Then we moved to the application review. The IO asked me for my full name, address, date of birth and marital status. Then she moved to the YES or NO questions. She asked me about 10 questions. Then she asked me to sign on the iPad the Oath of Alliance and a change she made in my file. The she asked me to sign again on the iPad to confirm how my info was going to show on the Naturalization Certificate. After that she congratulated me again and got me the N-652 notice with the Congratulations - You have been recommended for approval box checked. Also she gave me a letter with instructions on how to access to the place where we are going to take the Oath and the check in line as well.

This is by far my best experience with USCIS in 10 years. I mentioned to the IO all the bad reviews you read online and she asked me to post a review about my experience as that would help other Houstonians to not fear when they go to their interviews.

Last night our status changed to Oath Ceremony Will be Scheduled and in our Online Account to Case Approved.

We are so happy to be almost over. If we get scheduled for Oath on Nov, the whole process would have take less than 9 months from filling to oath ceremony.

Thanks God for all the things He did yesterday for us as a family and thanks to this forum for all the help you guys provide.

Blessings!!!!

I400 - Citizenship - New York City office (NYC Federal Plaza)
Hi!! I am so happy to post my timeline on the website - finally. I obsessively checked this blog every other day and it helped me keep my calm and my cool.

This is for the NYC federal plaza office - N400

Applied after 5 years of having a residency status (90 days early). It took 12 months almost exactly.

Nov 14 2018 - We received application
Nov 16 2018 - We scheduled your biometrics appt (I had to reschedule)
Nov 23 2018 - We schedule your biometrics
Dec 12 2018 - We reviewed your biometrics
Sept 3 2019 - We scheduled your interview
Oct 17 2019 - Interview
(could not make decision because of my many travels. I travelled a lot, 30+ trips and long, but was ok for the 2.5 years and never longer than 6 months in a row). Interview was very casual and the lady was nice. We basically did the exams and reviewed the application. She tried to make me very comfortable.

Oct 17 2019 - (next day) We approved your application
Oct 21 2019 - We schedule your naturalization ceremony
Nov 8th 2019 - Naturalization.

FYI - My estimated time kept jumping forward and back (6 months more than originally), so don’t let that make you scared. At one point it went to November 2019 and that was accurate. Now it says January 2019 once again, which is not accurate.

I wish everyone here best of luck and I hope this blog gives someone in NYC a bit of hope. Patience is key. They will eventually send you that letter!

Who is Illinois state senator? Who is Illinois state governor? Name your US Representative?

Can someone answer above questions if you have gone through the interview recently.

Oath ceremony
HI.

I have my oath ceremony scheduled for the end of this week, and while looking over the documents I saw it says bring any documents USCIS has given you. What are they talking about? Am I supposed to take my expired Green Card too?

Thanks

n400 interviews in New York City
Hi guys,

Has anyone who applied in January, 2019 received interview notice from USCIS New York City field office?. I have been waiting for months and still no interview. My estimate wait time changed today from 2 months to 31 days. Does this mean anything? I am getting frustrated waiting for an interview.

Filing from Upstate Buffalo, NY
This forum has helped me a lot during my journey to become a citizen so I decided to share my timeline. Please keep in mind that i filed based on a 5 years residency.

Filled by mail via USPS on August 15th 2019
Went in for my Bio metrics appointment on September 10th 2019
Went in for my interview October 17th 2019
*QUESTIONS ASKED*
1. who do we show loyalty to when we say the pledge of Allegiance?
2. what is one power that belongs to the state?
3. who lived in America before the Europeans ?
4. How old do citizens have to be to vote?
5. Why does the flag have 13 stripes?
6. Name 3 of the 13 original colonies?
My oath ceremony was scheduled (of course after i passed my verbal and written tests) on the same day as my interview for October 31st 2019

I know my journey seems so sped up, but remember that your location plays a very big role on your wait time and I've been fortunate enough to be living in Buffalo NY.

Good luck your journeys.
