N400 NY LONG ISLAND
Hello

Today i had interview at holtsvile office after long 16 months wait .

Sorry for English mistakes as i did type in hurry on phone and English isn't my native language.

The interview was approx an hour , applied under spouse 3 year .

Officer seemed like unfamiliar with the process as she kept on talking to her self like (yes , ok , now this , etc ) and once even went to supervisor to ask what to do next ? She spent almost half time trying to learn how to work on pc ..

So we started with oath and then she saw my form n400 and said based on marriage 3 yrs the burden on you to prove that you lived togather for 3 years and spouse was citizen for 3 years and you will have to provide lots of documents which most likely you wont have but will see later (i was thinking like she will grind me to the full extent allowed well i brought almost everything that i had at home that she may ask so i was sort of ready for the showdown) during that time she asked me strange question like how many time you applied visa and why you didnt applied from your home country , why from different country where you were temporary resident , they cannot issue visa from temporary resident place etc etc etc ( i was thinking like ask them not me now i have Green card which i got after approx 4 year long process) moving forward she ask about bio details name dob etc from n400 . Moving forward to citations i mentioned cell phone use traffic tkt which was eventually dismissed without hearing but i was scheduled for hearing but got dismissal letter before , she asked so you were charged with something so you have to check yes for the question following the citation question which i did checked yes (i was like whatever bcoz I mentioned that it was dismissed as i was ready to contest it, i did attached the dimissal letter already but also gave her hearing letter and dismissal letter again ) after that i had some trips to canada for 2 days to a week max each trip , she asked why so many trips , i said its close by and affordable, easy to go and spend time to fresh up . So she asked me why you not apply for Canada citizenship , i said i like Canada for holidays not to live permanently as i have everything here . Moving forward yes no questions and then the test .
Reading writing and questions all passed no mistakes .

After that ok you have documents to show , i took my documents folder out and she asked for lease letter , we moved from my spouse studio to a 2 bedroom apartment in apr 2016 which lease were on both names so i gave her than she asked for any joint accounts i said yes credit card statment gave to her , any insurance on both names , even though my spouse isnt licensed to drive but she have learner permit for state id use so on our car insurance we had both names . So i gave her , oh also she asked for taxes 2016 , i told her i have the copies from irs as well which she weren’t interested in . After that she scanned the documents in system and put it in my folder and she said she needs to ask the supervisor whats next so she went out came back after 5 minutes and printed that letter you passed the test, decision cannot be made . She also said she can’t make decision right now as she has to review some of my stuff .

So is it common ? Or i will have to face more grinding? Our marriage is legit, we are living together from day 1, expecting first kid next week, i feel maybe I should have taken a letter for previous studio apartment landlord that yes we were living together as my current landlord owns this new building as well . But then i felt the officer seemed new and unfamiliar with interviews so she would have done the same anyway (about the officer i felt more like when your workplace is busy with people waiting so you even ask the cleaner who dont know much to assist people - no disrespect but i dont feel interviewing were her primary job , during the whole process i was polite and smiling even though i was feeling a bit disappointed inside about how she was handling everything , all other officers were smiling when calling name but she was sort of serious person.

Advise to anyone heading for interview ,
Dont leave a single paper home, bring everything lease insurance joint account tax docs as you never know which officer welcomes you

Any suggestions?

NYC based Citizenship applicant: Please help
Hey guys, wondering if anyone else is similar in terms of this process:

* My wife and I (Brits) are Green Card holders close to 5 years (8th November)
* Applied for citizenship August 10th, as permitted
* Biometrics completed in late September
* Online status changed to 'Case in line for an interview' on October 10th

Still very early, but wondering if anyone else with the Jacob Javits Federal building field office could advise approx how long they waited for interview after the online status changed? Assuming similar circumstances?

I assume we'll be waiting months, but would appreciate any feedback very much.

Thank you very much.
