travel before interview date
All,
My priority date is Aug 1 2016, I have had several calls and a infopass session, only to hear ....there have been lot of applications last year it is just taking too long.

If I had to travel abroad now, and while I am gone I receive a letter in the mail....and I could not attend the interview....will it be rescheduled...if so how long will I have to wait again.

Or Do I have to notify them of my travel.....I am not sure when(date of return) I will come back.

Anyone has any information....please let me know.

Thanks,

ATL - 3 YEAR based
Hi everyone,

I applied on 5/10/2017
Biometrics - 6/7/17
In line for scheduling - 6/19/17

Anyone has the same timeline as me? Anyone from Atlanta? For those of you who waited so long to get the interview notice, is it because your 3 years hasnt been reached and you applied three months before?

I hope to get my interview soon, I want to travel oversees in September and would preff to do it once I get my passport.

Thank You all for your support. You guys are amazing, this blog is so helpfull - It helps not loose your mind. My timing is a little faster but I waited over 1 year for my 10 year green card.

Naturalization update - Indianapolis field office
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to post an update in case it's of use to anyone. Here is my timeline
1. January 20, 2017, application received
2. February 17, 2017 - fingerprinted
3. April 11 - interview
4. June 13 - oath ceremony.

Overall it took slightly less than 5 months. I want to add that I went over and above in providing documents, tax returns, travel records, etc. with the submission and at the interview. I took originals and copies for the immigration officer at the interview - which surprised even him. This year's tax returns for example, which we filed before the deadline so I could take it with me - they asked for it. The oath ceremony was at USCIS and basically all they asked was have you traveled overseas or had any interaction with the police since the interview (I had not).

Wishing everyone good luck with the process
