To file or not to File
Hi,
I am eligible to apply for US citizenship and have the paperwork ready. But I have to go to India in December for a function and I have already got my tickets. I am worried that based on the current processing times, the whole process would be done around early December, if not later. Even the oath ceremony is held in Early dec, does it give me enough time to get the new passport, get my Indian visa and renounce my Indian citizenship. What happens if my process is not completed by Dec?

OR should I just wait till I come back from my trip to India in Dec and then apply?

Please provide any insights if possible

N-400 Application Please Help!
Our location is Las Vegas, NV. My wife has filed N-400 on 11/24/2015, got Bio Metrics done around mid Jan, received interview notice by Feb, interview taken by 3/11/2016, case status changed to scheduling your oath ceremony by 3/14/2016. And it hasnt change since then..

Called USCIS National Call Center, but they told me they can only send note to local office if there is no response in 90 days.

Just feeling weird about this since the USCIS officer litteraly told us that she should receive oath ceremony notice within a month after her interview, and we havent hear from any friend who ever applied for N-400 received their oath ceremony notice over a month after the interview in Las Vegas area.

Is this normal? If it isn't, what could be possibly wrong, and what should we do? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Citizenship for child
Hi Everyone

I am a naturalized US citizenship. I completed my naturalization process in 2009 and received my naturalization certificate on April 3, 2009. In April, 2010, I moved to India and have lived there since. I have visited the United States, twice after for a period of three weeks each time. I am now pregnant and was wondering if my child would be eligible for US citizenship.

Please advice.

Thank you.

N-400 time processing
For me (Sacramento, CA)"
- Mid-Jan: application received
- 2/17/16: biometric test done
- 3/7/16: appointment for interview made
- 3/14/16: notice received
- 4/15/16: interview - pass
- 4/27/16: oath of ceremony

For my parents (San Diego, CA):
- 2/2/16: application received
- 2/25/16: biometrics done
- Nothing since biometric test, even no notice of in line waiting for scheduling interview appointment. And when we checked the myUSCIS website, they still showed that "we received you N-400, blah blah blah"

N400 process while being abroad
I am in India for work related extended travel and applied for neutralization. I think I may have to travel to USA 3 times - 1. biometric 2. interview and 3. oath. I am wondering If I could manage to reduce the number of trips to USA for this.

Has anyone tried to take biometrics in India or to manage dates of any these events?

thanks

N400 one year delay due to background check
My husband, my daughter and myself applied for Naturalization in March 2015. Both my daughter and I became citizens of the United Stated in August 2015. My husband went to biometric appointment in April 2015 and since then there is no movement on the case at all
Has anybody had experience of the delay over the year after biometric appointment? Any suggestions? USCIS says that FBI is performing the background check. Is there a time frame for performing these checks? Does anybody have similar experience with a positive outcome?

renunciation penalty
Hi, my son received his naturalization certification on xx/xxxx, however the naturalization date was stated the date I(mom) received, which we didn't know. Now we applied for renunciation of his Indian passport, Indian embassy is asking us to pay $1500 penalty for getting an Indian passport and travelling to India after he was naturalized(as per naturalization certificate which was 4 years ago). any suggestions, I am sure one of you have dealt with this kind of problem that parents was naturalized before children and you did not apply at the same time for your children, but your child is naturalized on the same day you were, which you did not know and travelled to India.
