In-laws got stamped at First attempt @ Mumbai Consulate
Hi,
My in-laws got stamped at mumbai consulate on Aug 7th,2008.
Visa officer was very nice.
She asked them everything in GUJARATI.
VO: who is staying in US ?
in-laws: my son-in-law and daughter
VO: what is your son-in-law doing ?
in-laws: working in XYZ company.
VO: Is he software engineer ?
in-laws: Yes.
VO: who else staying in US?
in-laws: youngest brother
VO: where and since how long he s staying ?
in-laws: in New York and staying since frm last 5 yrs.
VO: how your brother went to US ?
In-laws: his daughter put a GC for them.
VO: how long ur son-in-law and daughter is stayin in US ?
in-laws: 2 yrs.
At last she said:
VO: ok then u can also get ready to goto US.
in-laws: thank you very much!!!
so guys dont worry to get visitor-visa from Mumbai consulate.Luck is also there but dont worry so much.

my mom had a 10 year multiple entry visitot visa. When my dad went for visa interview he lost my mom visa in the consulate. He was not sure where he dropped it. when he came back to bangalore he applied for new passport for her. We got the new passport and DD for mom to go for interview again. Just couple of days back we got a email from chennai that they have our mom passport with them. We sent an email to them to cancel the valid visa before we came to know that they had passport with them. Now we have new passport, old passport whcich is cancelled by indian gov and cancelled which had valid visa on old passport. She needs to go for interview again to get the visa. There is option when you take an appointment "whether you are going to apply for same class of visa which is valid for last 12 months". We don't know whether she qualify for renewal or not?

My mom got 10 yrs multiple entry visa at Chennai Consulate

My mother got 10 yr. multiple entry visa at Chennai consulate. The interview was in Tamil and the VO herself was able to communicate in Tamil. However there was a translator also
My mom said the interview went for around 5 minutes and the questions were simple.
Questions asked.
1. Who is there in US
2. What is the purpose of your visit
3. Where does your son-in-law work
4. May I see his empt. docs.(My mother gave them my husband's empt.letter and pay stubs. It looks like they verified that and return it back.
5. How many children do you have? Ans. One daughter and one son.
6. What is your son doing? Ans. He is now in Australia for a project.
7. How long is the project and when will he come back. Ans. I am not sure about the project duration. He said he will return as soon as the project ends.
8. What is your son's company name and do you know his salary details? (I don't know whey they asked this specific question abt my brother since he is in Australis and nothing to do with US)
That's all. She answered all the questions with the true information. My mother is working in a Central Govt. job and she wants to give them the leave sanction letter to tell them that she will definitely come back to join work. VO said no need to verify those and they are OK with everything. They said the Visa has been approved and your passport will be couriered soon. She got the 10 yr multiple entry visa.

The interview was at 11.30am on 10th July.Here is how it went.
All the questions were asked to my father only.
My father: Namaste sir
vo:(Translator) Namaste
vo: who is there in USA?
Ans: My Daughter & son-in-law.
Vo: what u r Daughter doing in US?
Ans: Nothing..she is on H4 visa.
Vo: where does u r son in law work?
Ans: tell my Husband's company name & Designation.

vo has not seen single document which i send or which they have there own.
