Appeared for H1 Visa stamping on 7Jan 2015. Was asked few questions about my Client, salary, location, role etc. but I wasn't asked for any document. The stamping is for my extension of H1 for which I have the approved petition. After these questions, the interviewer talked to one of her colleague for a min & then handed me a white slip. He crossed the checkbox that said, the office will contact you by mail & returned my passport. He said, we need more time to examine your case & will get back to you for further processing. I wasn't asked to submit any document. When asked, he said, you will be contacted on mail & there we will tell you what to do next. So since then the online status reflects as "under administrative processing" & the status date is 7th Jan only. No change in status date neither I have been contacted via mail yet for any next action. So I don't even know if I have to submit any document or not. What I fear is for denial as my passport has been returned. Please suggest

This is my 2nd 221(g). Received a response in exactly 3 weeks last time (sept-Oct time frame).
3rd Feb: Received email to submit the passport along with some other documents. Looks like they are moving the cases pretty quickly now. There were 41 (or 43) approvals in the email today.
4th Feb : Submitted passport and other docs. They did not take the resume, research etc. and other docs as requested in the CGI form. Told me 4-5 business days to stamp the visa.
5th Feb: Case status updated to 5th Feb on CEAC website
6th Feb: Case status update to 'issued' in the morning. Received email in the afternoon that passport was picked up from the embassy. Picked up the passport around 15:40.

I have one suggestion for all who are using bluedart location service. Don't wait for ustraveldocs to send you tracking number. I haven't received any tracking number or any email from ustraveldocs yet. In 2012, I waited for ustraveldocs email and ended up wasting 2 days in the process. Ustravel docs sends tracking number 2 days after passport reaches bluedart location!! 48 hrs from the day visa status changes to issued, just show up at bluedart to pickup your passport.
Online passport tracking system also sucks. My current passport tracking status is "Passport has been received from the consular section, and is currently being processed for delivery"

Mine is a J-1 student (PhD) renewal. The VO asked me a couple of questions including my field, then directed me to another window where the lady told me to submit documents: resume, research,travel, sponsor. Submitted the documents the next day and got a confirmation as well.
Status update happened on 30 Jan (but still in AP), but since then no updates. hope everything clears out pretty soon.
