My experience
Hello everyone,
I want to tell you my experience about traveling outside of the USA with advanced parole.
First of all I want to thank you for posting about your experiences this forum helped me a lot on deciding to travel.
uscis received my AP application on 11/09/16 I got approved to trvel from 03/01/17 through 06/01/17. I traveles with my wife and 2 kids from Chicago to Puerto Vallarta on 03/16/17 (direcrt flight, I would suggest the same if traveling with kids) we traveled to visit my sick grandma.
We returnedon 03/19/17 again a direct flight to Chicago even though we live in Ohio. When we landed me and my family went through the non-USA citizens line. The officer took my advanved parole documents and my work permit card then took my fingerprints and asked me to follow him because they had to stamp my passport on a different room (I went by myself as my wife and kids picked up our luggage). There were about 10 people in the room, I got there and sat on a bench on the back row, there were different officers coming to the room with stamped passports and just calling the names of the different people in the room. After about 10-15minutes an officer came and calls my name I got up and he asked me “what’s your birthday?” after I answered he then hands me my passport and 1 sheet of my AP bith stanped!!! That was it! It was really smooth and easy fir me (maybe I got lucky) but I swear that was everything, they didn't even asked where I went.!!!!
If you got approved for AP I would take the chance to go ( but only if youfingerprints are clean, I wouldn't go if I you were previously deportes while trying to cross nor if you got a misdemeanor). My lawyer had adviced me no to travel but we still took the chance.
Again thank you all for your experiences. Now I have a lawful entry as well and can adjust my status. I wish everyone good luck!! Thanks.

Advance Parole
Greeting to all!!

I am an American citizen married to a filipina. We have filed for an I-601 waiver, an I-131 petition ( advanced parole) and a I-485.

My question is, once we are approved for the Advanced Parole are we required to travel listed on the document or can we travel anywhere out of the country?

Thanks

Please help!!!
Hi everyone in this forum. I came to the US 2 and a haft year ago on a student visa. My visa expired on 11/14/2015. I overstayed since then. I met my husband (a US citizen) at school and got married then I applied for adjustment of status (I485). My case has been pending for almost 1 year and I still haven't got my interview yet. I got my advance parole last week and decided to travel to my country. I'm so worried that I wouldn't be able to get back cause I overstayed my visa. Please anybody had the same situation give me an advice if I should go or not. My flight is next Sunday. Please help!!!

Successful re-entry with advance parole. 3/16/17
Hello all,

First, I'm grateful for finding this site which gave me peace of mind during the whole process. Therefore, I feel compelled to share my story to help others during this nerve racking experience.

My wife applied for advanced parole on Sept. 2016 and received approval in the mail 3/1/17. Unfortunately, the parole was only valid from 2/20/17 through 3/20/17. Considering the mail took 1 week to deliver we didn't have time to consider whether we wanted to take the risk of travelling or not. It was more the instinct of do it now or never.

My wife travelled to El Salvador on 3/8 and I followed on 3/13 with both of us returning on 3/16/17 to Houston International Airport. I was aware I was not going to be able to be with her during the interview process but wanted to be there for her as much as I was allowed.

On the way back we both went though the foreigners with visas lane. The immigration agent only asked what I did for a living and let me thought but asked my wife to step to the side. This is were our anxiety and nerves hit the rooftop but its what we were expecting. My wife was sent to another waiting room. On the other hand I was not allowed to wait around. Be aware they are not allowed to use their phone while in the waiting room, so don't panic if you don't hear from them for 30 to 45 minutes.

They didn't ask her any personal questions only if she was bringing any food items in her luggage. They kept the parole documents but stamped her passport. We immediately called our attorney and were told not to worry as the passport stamp was enough proof of legal entry into the country.

Overall, it was a pleasant process. I advise everyone to travelnow instead of waiting as things might change for the worst.

Thank you all.
