Parents got 214 B for B1- B2 twice.
Hi immihelp,
My parents got 214B twice in same month 1st interview was on march 6th 2012 and the 2nd interview was on march 29th 2012.
My dad is recenty retired ie feb 29th 2012 and when we fill DS-160 for him we showed he is working , and my mom is home maker.
They have their own 2 homes , some land, Share certificaes.., Bank balance . they have one more daughter and son. Daughter is married and son is still studying.
My husband sponsered their trip and visa. And he is on H1B.
In 1st interivew, we didn't ask for the traslator. And i guess my parents got tensed for the language and interview. my mom answered Home-work instead homemaker when she was asked what do you do? Also asked to my Dad, what does he do? (I am a Gov Employee) How much you earn? ( YYYY X) what your son-in law do? (He works for YYYY Co,) What your doughter do? (She is housewife) Do you have more kids? (i have one Daughter and Son. Son is still studying and Daughter is married)
And after this disccussion VO said we can't grant your visa and gave the 214 B.
We tried again on march 29th 2012 . with the Translator (in Marathi)
This time we showed he is retired (Govt Job)
and rest was the same. This time he asked the same Q. What do you do? (I am Retired) where you want to go? where does your son in law do?
Your visa got rejected on March 6th. My dad answered- yeah that time we got the interview in English, and i guess i was not able to eplain properly my enough ties. so this time i am trying to explain through a translator.
VO said you go to some other country and looks like a potential immigrant.
I don't know where was the case wrong. and how VO feels they are potential immigrants..
Please help me with this.
When i can try their B1-B2 again? what change i should show them for the next interview?
Please guide me , if we were wrong somewhere?
should we wait for the next summer season? ie 2013 and file their visas seperately? And also plan some other foreign tour like Singpore, thailand... as VO said you go to some other country. will that help for next interview?

Thanks ,
Deepa Kardekar.

My VISA was rejected first time when I attended on 8 Jul 2011.

Me: Both are same, I 'm going for the training purpose.

But she was not convinced by what I said.
She said YOUR VISA REJECTED DUE TO THE REASON MENTIONED IN THE 42B

B1 Visa experience
VO: What is the purpose of the visit
Me: I am going for business meetings with our client to discuss future business oppurtunites for my fir
VO: How many ppl work at your client's xx ofice?
Me: Its a small company only 15 ppl
VO: How long are you going for?
Me: 4 weeks
VO: 4 weeks? I think its too long a time for meetings, I suspect you will work there. There is a different visa class you will need to apply for.
Me: Convinced her that I will not work there, but only take part in meetings, and I have an agenda for the same.
VO: Have you been out of the country
Me: Yes, to these these countries.
VO: Are you married?
Me: No but I am engaged
VO: i am granting you the visa, but make sure you don't work there.
Me: I won't. I am aware this is a business only visa.
VO: Ok, you will get the visa in 5 working days.

Tips:

1. Make sure you carry a business meeting agenda document.
2. If your visit is more than 2 weeks, be prepared to convince the visa officer why you require so much time.
3. You WILL need to prove that you have some kind of ties to the country. Marriage or property is a positive. If you don't have either make sure you have traveled abroad before to Europe or UK.
4. Be confident and true to yourself. iF you have lied in ure your application, it will be caught!

my B1 Visa refused under 214 (B)
Hi guys,

Seek expertise in my case. Please guide me that what should I do now? When can I re-apply?

I went to visa office but didn’t get visa approval. The Visa Officer said, “sir right now I am not approving your visa but since I am giving you section 214 B, you can re-apply at the earliest if you want to”.

I have a couple possible ideas for why my visa was refused.

One is that I didn’t show my marriage certificate and my child’s birth certificate when the officer asked if I was married. Even though I had the document with me, I did not share it with the officer because he very clearly told me in the beginning to only show documents that he asked for, and he did not specifically ask for a marriage certificate.

Another is that I feel that maybe the officer thought 60 days was too long time span for the reason that I told him.

My interview went like below.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Me: good morning sir
visa officer: good morning
Visa officer: what's your designation
me: I am senior web designer in xxx.
Visa officer: what's your annual income
me: my annual income is xxx lacs.
Visa officer: what is your purpose of visit
me: Describe thoroughly
Visa Officer: Since how long you are working in this company
me: since two and a half year
Visa Officer: How long you are planning to go to US
me: for 60 days approx.
Visa officer: are you married?
Me: yes I am married

US VISA Interview Experience on 17 th Feb 2012 in Chennai

I had booked the Hotel Crystal residency http://www.crystalresidency.com/. It’s just Diagonally opposite to US Embassy. The rooms are OK although it’s not so excellent. Since You just need to cross only an underground subway to reach the place, You need not worry about traffic etc if You book Your room in this hotel.
1) You can book it online from makemytrip.com using credit card.
2) You can also call them, book it by phone and pay by credit card once You reach there. (This method is better if you are planning to leave the next day night to Bangalore as they give you 24 Hours checkout time)

Experience-1:

Interview questions & answers

ME : Good Morning ( with a smile)

Tips:
1. Follow all those mentioned in the other posts.
2. In my case the finger scanning is not done outside building. I was waiting for my turn. Suddenly the guards called me and some two other two token numbers and asked us to directly to go Inside. So my first finger scan is done (only once) in the interview counter only.
3. Interview with manager was really helpful
4. Take few more mok interview with your friends, If you are not feeling confident to answer all the questions.
5. Try to answer the first few questions with much confidence.
