Here i have few inputs

Be confident.
Dress neatly. (Tie is not required)
Be react short and sweet
Don’t use the word Requirement gathering

Questions:

1) What is the purpose of travel?
2) What is the Project?
3) Project release date?
4) What is the duration of the trip?
5) Where are you going in US?
6) Where are you working now?
7) How do you working in current company?
8) Annual Salary in present company?
9) Are you married?
10) Do you have children’s?
11) Are you going with family are not?


Finally VO told sweet words... :)

Firstly I need to thank Immihelp.com as by far it is the best website to help you in this regards. I think its amazing to see people help each other too.

The interview was at X hours and I reached 40 minutes prior. Parked the car at Malcha Marg Market as that is the only nearest MCD parking point. Then went walking from there to the embassy, I guess its 5 - 10 minutes walk. Entered the gates gave documents, got checked by security then took the token from the entry after it. Waited for my turn to come and they called me. Showed my docs again at a counter (Token No. comes on screen). and then gave the finger prints at another. Everyone was extremely helpful, nice, professional and polite inside the consulate.

Sat at the waiting counter till my number finally appeared on the screen. Took GOD'S Name and stood in the line.

Greeted the VO and got a smile back.

Questions:

1) Purpose, 2) How long is your stay, 3) What does the company do?, 4) How long is the tenure in the company, 5) Who do you report to, 6) How big is the company, 7) Job profile

(Questions are scrambled and not in order)

Tips:

1) Dress Properly and Professionally
2) Be Confident
3) Be Clear
4) Be as Honest as possible
5) If you are honest automatically, you will be focused. Look in to their eyes and speak and stand confidently.
6) Listen to them clearly and answer only crisp and short. Only what is required and not stories.
7) Be Courteous and greet them. SMILE!
8) Have faith in GOD, Whatever happens is for good only
9) Carry all documents and proofs clearly. Specially the Interview letter and HDFC Receipt
10) Fill the initial form online clearly and mention travel dates and reasons clearly and honestly
11) Be Calm don't panic
12) Don't carry cellphones or company ID'S as they ask you to take it out
13) Practice what you have to say there
14) VFS generally sends you a sms as soon as the passport is processed. You can go and pick it up if you want at their office. If your visa is processed keep the receipt with you of HDFC.

This was first time for Visa interview. Reached at 10.00 Am. My interview time was 10.30 AM. Initially i was bit tensed. But after given the finger prints i was singing the song slowly to remove my tension.
And it was working. When i reached to VO, i was very cool.

Interview goes below:


Me: Good Morning (with sweet smile)

VO: Very Good morning(very formally)
Me : How are you.

VO : I am good, and u? (very formally)
ME : I am good , thanks

VO : What is the purpose of visit.
ME : My Client XX is going to conduct a summit....

(She asked in between)...
VO: Which type of Summit is this.
ME: Answerd.

VO : Who else will join you in this summit.
ME : Pardan..... (with very confidently, coz i already share this answer with her)

VO : Only XX(Client) guys will be there ?
Me : No, some more technical guys will also there from different location.

started typing somtehing...

VO: In which company you are working.
ME : I am working in ZZZ.


VO : How long you are working in this company:
ME: I am working since last one and half year.

VO : How long you will be there..
ME: I'll be there for X week only.

VO : How much you are getting.
ME: I am getting X.X Lacs per anum.

VO : Ok, your Visa got approved. you will get it within 3 days.
Me : Thank you so much... :)


Tips:
1. Be cool
2. Answer with smiling face
3. Be confident and voice should be bold

but.... Luck does matter there
80% Luck + 20% smart answer = Visa Approved

Hi all, today I visited to interview to b1 visa in tashkent.
I booked 8:00 am, I arrived 7:30, freezing temperature, we wait outside till 8:00, then they explain and pick up passports, then called in one by one, when I enter inside after security checks everything, i paid visa fee and they said we have to wait to call names, there were about 40 people totally waiting for interview, about 8:40 they started interview, in first window they called one man, who was traveling to usa with tourist purpose, and his brother and dad are already in USA. The councelor asked about his studies, and about his lost passport, and finally he refused his visa because of he got strong ties in US, then he said you may reapply in the future.
Then they called 2 nd person, who was a woman about 60 years old, she was visiting to her daughter, her daughter is ill, so she has to go there to take care her, but counsellor refused, and he said I cant qualify u a visa, sorry, in the future u welcome to apply again, then that lady started crying and asked the councellor please dont refuse my visa, it is very important to me to be there, please, she was crying, but counsellor said I am so sorry to you but I cant change my decision, then she left,
then in the second window another councellor start calling and called 1 man, who was going to some training, but unfortunately he was refused as well, then he called me, I am number 5 from 40 people :), and when I go there I say "good morning, how are you, he said just "thanks" and he said could you please give you left hand fingers for fingerprint, then right hand, the two fingers together(I cant remember how to say these fingers,) then he asked
1) VO: what is a purpose of visiting,
me: for attending conference.
vo: what kind of conference r u attending?
me: it is technical conference, it is Share Point technology conference.
2) is that ### sooms(local currency) paying you yourbcompany as a salary?
me: yes.
3) vo: does you company sponsoring you?
me: yes.
4) vo: have you attend any conferences like this in abroad?
me: no
5) vo: have you been outside the country before?
me: yes, I have been in india and in czeck republic.
6) vo: what purpose did you visit those countries?
me: in india, it is short course and in czeck republic, it is master degree course.
7) vo: who is your clients?
me: (i think he asked me about the company who is inviting me a conference, so i said)### media bla bla,
vo: no, who is your clients in here? (he asked me about our companies clients)
me: it is the government, the traffic managers, colleges, universities, we got lots of clients in various, we got lots of clients locally
8) (this is not 8, this is before 7 the question, )
vo: have you got any clients outside?
me: no, we do ounly locally, in uzbekistan,

then he started writing something to his computer, while he was writing, I think he is going to approve my visa, but after writing about 3 minutes, he said, your visa is not approved, you may welcome to apply again in the future.
then I said, thank you sir, then he said I am gonna give you all of your papers back, then he gave me, then I left the hall.
that's it, but now I think if I prepare and apply again, maybe I loose again, so the best one is I dont apply any more.

I forget to tell one more question, it is about number 5th question,
VO: why especially USA, why not europe?
me: because I think in USA the technology is better so I prefer the USA.

This was 2nd attempt at the B1 interview. Infact if you see my post on the 4th Jan 12, then you will see that my VISA had gone perfect. Note that I had used the word requirement gathering for a B1 VISA. I think I got rejected because I used the word requirement gathering so this time I made sure that I do not use the word requirement gathering.

Interview goes as below

Me : Good Morning Sir. How are you?

VO : Good Morning. I am fine

VO : Can I have your passport?

Me : Sure. (I also tried to push in the supporting documents like the company sponsorship letter and the invitation letter.

VO : Only the passport please.

Me : Ok

VO : So why are you going to the US?

Me : To attend business meetings

VO : Ok

VO : What is your company name?

Me : I said ZZZ. I continued saying that I also have a request letter from the company if you wish to see.

VO : What?

Me : I also have a approval / request letter from the company if you wish to see

VO : (Gettings Angry) Its my decision whether to ask you for the supporting documents or not.

Me : (Got really nervous) Started fumbling with words

VO : What kind of business meetings are these?

Me : Understanding the user problems and desiging a solution after coming back to India (fumbling with words since I was really nervous)

VO : So, do you know the user problems?

Me : I am not aware of the problems and I will get to know about it once I am there.

VO : What is the project about?

Me : Its about YYYY application

VO : What is YYYY application?

Me : (I wanted to tell it in sweet and short way) Told it in a very simple way but was fumbling again.

VO : What is salary per annum?

Me : Rs YYYY per annum

VO : How much do you take home?

Me : RS YYYY per month

I had lost the hopes of getting the VISA since I was fumbling and had got really nervous. I even asked the consulate twice to repeat their question since I couldnt here him.


VO : Ok. Your VISA is approved and you will get it in the next 3 days.

Me : (Really excited).. Thanks Sir!


I was so excited and couldnt believe my luck. I even left my bag inside the consulate and the forgot to pay the cab driver.


Tips:
1. Be really short and sweet
2. Dont use the word 'requirement gathering'
3. Not necessary to wear a tie. I was rejected when I was wearing a tie.
4. Be confident but don't be overconfident, the way I was at the first try.
5. Don't user the word 'Pardon', instead use the word 'Could you please repeat the question?'

And rest is all luck!!! 80% luck and 20% is what you answer.

Me: 2 months as scheduled.

VO: Don't you think 8 weeks is too long for training

Me: as the training involves different products & it going to interactive & discussion kind of session.

Clue: (advise always put the minimum duration)

VO: do you have the training schedule?

Me: Provided the training schedule.

VO: Golden words ( your visa is approved)

I appeared for L1B Blanket on 4-Aug-2011 that is also approved, later I resigned and my new company filed for B1. I appeared for B1 at Hyderabad on 19-Jan-2012 and it got approved.

I representing the worlds biggest Product based Software company, I really don't have any worry that it will get rejected.

I understood from the blogs that important information the "Visa Officer" is trying to get answers from the B1 category is.
1. Prospect should not work in USA.
2. Prospect presence in US should not effect anybody job in US.
3. Prospect should not work on the system for those many days during his presence in US.

A person before me was rejected, he is representing Deloitte Consulting and he says he is going for requirement gathering and training. Inspite of that he was rejected and asked to apply for L1B or H1B.

My interivew started with first question.

1. So you came here with request to stay a week in USA. (Then he check my BEP cover and my company).
Ans: I said "No".
(When he opened my passport the first thing he could see is my L1B visa)

2. You left YYYY company?
Ans: Yes, I'm with YYYY Company now.

3. What for your going?
Ans: I'm going for training in new module.

4. How long?
Ans: 3 Weeks.1st week xxx activity, 2nd week yyy activity and 3rd week zzz activity.

5. Do you have plans to go to US again?
Ans: No plans, as of now.

VO said, you will receive Visa in 7 days.
