VO: Can I have your passport?
Redial: Morning, Sure and handed over the passport

VO: What's your purpose of visit?
Redial: Business Meeting.

VO: How much tenure you have completed with the current organization?
Redial: It's going to be 6 months by the end of May.

VO: It's not even 6 months and they are sending you, Why?
Redial: The requirement was similar to my profile, insurance domain with technical background.

VO: How much experience you have in said?
Redial: 10 Years.

VO: So in 10 years you didn't get a chance but now not even in 6 months you are getting it?
Redial: Yes

VO: Sorry I don't think you are not going to work there hence Visa is rejected.
Redial: Ok

Now the client is ready to pay the visa fees again but this will be my last chance. Seeking help to know which all things should be taken care of and also this time have been asked to apply at Chennai - is changing a location ok?

Appeared for B1 Visa Interview today.

VO said Visa is approved , kept my Passport. Did not hand over any slip.

Now Visa Application Status Page shows " Administrative Processing"

Is it normal to see Administrative Processing status on same day of interview even if VO approved Visa? How long does it take for status to update on Visa application status page.

Here is my experience.

1st May :- Biometric , you can carry your phone inside just switch it off. My appointment time was 12.45 but I reached an hour earlier and was allowed in. Stood in queue.Carry your DS-160, passport and appointment confirmation print. Gave 4 left fingers print , 4 right fingers and then 2 thumbs. Audio isn't really that great so focus more on what person behind what he is saying.
They are pretty courteous and ready to help.They will stick an appointment sticker on your passport

2 May :- My appointment time was 12.00 PM , reached 45 mins early. Cabs are not allowed to stop in front of the consulate. So be ready to jump out ASAP. I stood in the queue outside the consulate got my passport checked they will mark appointment sticker on your passport with violet pen. Proceed in the consulate get your belongings scanned. No mobiles allowed beyond this point. Enter the waiting area 1, Area has got just fans no AC again your passport sticker is checked here.
Join waiting Line 2, If you are sick , have a visible injury(fracture etc) or you are with kids you can ask for a prioritisation here.After this you will be assigned to a counter where in your payment status of visa is checked and a blue line marked on sticker. and you are asked to go to counter 18 or 19 to re verify your finger prints and a green line marked on passport sticker.
After this you join separate queues based on Visa type
NOW THE WAIT !! This the last queue as you come to the front they will forward you to vacant counter . I saw for B1/B2 there least 10 counters.

VO: How are you doing Sir !
ME : I am good How are you doing today ?
VO: I am good as well.

VO: Passport Please
ME: Sure

VO: Going to California Sir ?
ME : Yes San Jose,California

VO: Business Meetings ?
ME: Yes business Meetings and a training

VO: How long will you stay in US ?
ME: 1 Week

VO: Married ?
ME: Yes

VO: Children ?
ME: Yes , two kids

By this time he had opened my profile on is Computer and was already looking at it
I had a L1-B rejection earlier in 2014 applied by my previous employer. So probably he was reading the comments on that. I would like to mention that time (L1-B)VO was extremely stern guy and had reject alteast 5 guys in front me , I was his sixth hunt and and typed for a good 5 minutes (and I mean literally by the clock 5 min) before telling me that I can’t approved as a beneficiary of a blanket petition. So I am assuming that he used some real-strong language to pen down his concerns.

Well back to present tense , current VO gazed at my profile for about 45 secs
and asked

VO: Have you traveled to US before :
ME: No

Then he gazed at my profile for another 30 secs , pressed the button to turn of the mike on his end and left his seat.
I already had my heart in my mouth , as I could see through the counter , he leaned over one the aisle to speak to another lady probably in back-office who was sitting there. I could see either of their faces , get chatted for a straight 5-6 mins , meanwhile I was assured that passport would be handed back to me and the pervious VO (L1) has screwed me for life and eternity.
So being convinced I leaned over the counter and rest my elbows and kept my belongings aside as well.
After their chat completed I thought he will come back to me, but no they both left and called another senior looking lady wearing US consulate badge. The time stood still for me as If the trauma wasn’t enough already , the third lady was vocal as she read through my profile and said “WOW” “WHOA” a couple of times and also said “I wouldn’t do it” . I was barely able to hear them as the mike was off but their gestures suggested all negativity.After this the 2 ladies left , my VO sat down started typing something , which I sure was my sentence of another rejection.

He switched on the mike
VO: Congrats Sir , Your Visa is approved.
Me: Thanks (Astonished , flabbergasted and Felt the earth moving below my feet)

I took me about 3-5 minutes to digest what had happened. I was ecstatic not because I would travel now because I took it lot personally at my first rejection.

Couple of things that I could infer don’t how far correct , but I think it matters a lot who is employer ?
My current employer is well know Silicon valley Major
The question regarding you employer and nature of work are down played if they your Employer is major brand in US.
If you are associated with such an employer Please wear your ID card , I was not asked form any Income proof , Invitation letter etc probably because it.
And Last time they did ask when I came for L1 through my pervious employer , another US based firm but not that well known.

What if your actual designation & invitation letter mentioned designation is different.

Mumbai, US Consulate 4th May.

Confidence is all you need while interview and make sure you carry all your documents.

After all the greetings done handed my passport to the Representative.

Rep: whats your purpose of visit
Me: Gave all the detail.

Rep: have you traveled US before?
Me: No

Rep: Any country other than US?
Me: No

Rep: looks at my passport says its brand new, no stamps at all.

Rep: so do you have a invite letter for visiting to US.
Me: gave the invite letter(which he read it completely, 2 pages)

Rep : Duration of Stay
Me : 2 week

Asked me the same question again

Rep: Why are you visiting to US.
Me : replied with the same answer as earlier, but this time adding in depth details.

Had to explain him in a complete layman terms.
 
Rep: OK thanks, he asked me do you have all the other documents, education certificate, salary slips and others.
Me: i have all the documents with me, do you want to see it.

Rep: No thanks, your visa is approved, enjoy stay in America.
Me: Thank you, have a great day ahead.

I was asked the same question, whats your purpose of visit twice, once in beginning and in the end again. make sure you give same answer, thats what they check how confidence you are in giving the answers.

Passport has already been given prior to VO before start of interview

VO: Good Morning
Me: Replied back with smile, First sign of positive start where VO wishes u

VO: Ask me the purpose of visit
Me: To get trained on new enhancements and product related changes in YYYY domain

VO: What is your Product
Me: Gave overview of our product(Make sure your answer is not lengthy or too short )

VO: What kind of changes
Me: Gave him the answer and that answer was the trigger point for complete interview process(VO checks whether you know your product in better way to get trained)

VO: What is your company Name
Me: Gave the name of my company

VO: How many years you have been working with this present company
Me: 3 Yrs

There was 5 seconds pause and i could only hear the keyboard sound, nothing else and there started my flow of thoughts (multiple thoughts ran through my head)

And came the verdict of my third attempt...

VO: Your VISA has been Approved
Me: The least word I could say was Thank you so much... It was like a silent explosion of bomb in my head which made me go numb.

It was like walking back to the exit gate without your senses

VO: which company are you working for?
Me: Said my Company Name
VO: What does your company do?
Me: Answered in a sentence.

VO:what is your designation?
Me: Senior XX
VO: little louder speak to the microphone
Me: I repeated my designation towards the microphone

VO: what is your purpose of Visit?
ME: Business meeting

VO: How Long and Where are you going in US?
Me: 6 Weeks,ZZZ (VO had a question on her face) so i repeated YYYY in North Carolina
VO: Oh okay

Vo: Are you travelling alone?
Me: Yes

Vo:what you would do in the US ?
Me:Explained (all in 2 or 3 sentence)
Vo: Hmmm..Good and what would you do after you come back to India
Me: Standardising the new company infrastructure with our global standards.
Vo: Ok

VO Takes out my passport,checks the front and back pages, types something on, checks the screen ,goes inside and had a discussion inside for 2 minutes and she came back and takes out a blue form 221(g)

Vo:(shows me the 221(g))Hmmm.... your case is complicated..... but not a probelem, your interview is fine..but you will have to obtain the following dowcument(shows me the 221(g)) and submit it to nearest offices shown in this form ?
She asks me to obtain a Police clearance certificate from regional passport offie and submit it to nearest VFS centre
Me : ok, when should i submit it and do i have to come to consulate again?
vo: As soon as possible, and no need to come to the consulate , you can drop the documents along with the passport to any of the location mentioned in this sheet. and you will get your visa after 5-6 Busniess days

Me: Thank you .

I came back with mixed feelings but more with a positive feeling, this happened to one of my muslim colleague also , He also had to obtain PCC and he got Visa after submitting the PCC.

I received my Visa after 5 days after submitting the documents.

I have interview in next week for B1 visa. I have read so many thread in immihelp and bit scared due to visa rejection.

I have joined my current company in Jan-2017(~ 4 months ago). So I am thinking my visa will get rejected because of short duration experience with my current company. But I have re-joined my current company after 2 years.

Can I get some ideas how can I handle this situation?

Salary pkg: 10+
Travel before US: No
Married: Yes

I gave my b1 visa Interview today and following was the conversation.
I had prepared a lot but don't know the reason

VO: purpose of visit
Me: business meeting and client interaction

VO: how long you have been with the company
Me: 3 years and 2 months

VO:what is your annual package
Me: 8 lakh 40 thousand

VO have you travelled to USA before
Me:no

Then he said he can't issue visa this time

I don't understand the reason.please if someone can let me know the reason and how long before I reapply
