Visa rejected twice @ Mumbai
Hi,

Following is my B1 visa experience -

I had scheduled my visa interview first at 21st Nov 2016. Following are questions and answers:-

**No Good Morning or smile by VO**
Me : Good Morning

VO: Passport please
Me: handed over the passport

VO: What is the purpose of your visit?
Me: I am going to attend business meeting for requirement gathering related to a new project.

VO: Where are you going in US?
Me: Mountain View

VO: Which Stare?
Me: California.

VO: Do you have invitation letter?
Me: Yes. (handed over)

VO: What is your current designation?
Me: Senior Application Specialist

VO: What is the duration of your stay in US?
Me: It will be for 3 weeks

VO: What is your experience in current company?
Me: 4 Months

VO: What is your highest qualification?
Me: I have completed my bachelor of engineering in computer science.

VO:Which year did you completed your education?
Me: 2011

VO: So from 2011, you have only 4 months of experience?
Me: No, it's just experience with current employer. I have total 5 years of experience.

VO: (started typing a lot) Have you traveled anywhere else before?
Me: Yes, I have traveled to europe for a vacation with my family. Trip was for 15 days only.

VO: With whom in family?
Me: With my parents.

VO: Can you tell the names of countries?
Me: **told all the 5 countries I visited**

VO: Are you single?
Me: Yes.

VO: Sorry, you do not qualify for this visa. But do not consider this as a final rejection, you can apply again anytime.(hander over 214(B))
Me: Thanks!

I left the counter. However as my employer asked me to apply again, I submitted a new DS 160 and scheduled a new interview after 2 weeks.

VO:Good Morning.
Me: Good Morning.

VO:Please give me your passport.
Me:**Handed over**

VO: **Scanned the barcode and kept reading something on screen for a while**. So, you have travelled to europe before?
Me: Yes. I was on a vacation.

VO: **Still reading on screen**. Sorry, you do not qualify for this type of visa(handed over 214(B)).
Me: **Shocked by entire scenario** Is there any specific reason for this denial?

VO: You have all the information needed in 214(B). **Waved to next applicant**
Me: Baffled. Left counter.

Can anybody suggest what went wrong? I am totally at my wits end as I couldn't find any reason for this denial. Especially denial of second time.

B1/B2 Visa Experience at Mumbai.
First of all, a BIG thanks to Immihelp. Such a brilliant thought and so much in depth information which would help everyone to nail the interview, especially for the first timers who have no clue of what happens after applying for a Visa. Kudos to the team and my gratitude. I succeeded in the first attempt, but it would not have been possible without Immihelp. I mean, my case was strong enough for granting a Visa; however, I would have lacked the confidence and fumbled during the interview otherwise.

Now, for the users who will post their experience. PLEASE put your answers too and not just questions and provide details. Of course, you will hide the necessary information, but don’t just right “said” or “answered” kind of responses. Please be as much descriptive as possible. Also, please describe your circumstances because it’s not just the answers, but your present situation too matters to get you a Visa. Please be as much descriptive as possible. Some of the interviews I read were just the questions and very less details. You would have spent enough time on the website before going for your interview and it’s time for you to give it back to this website and other users. Spend some time in giving.

My schedule was: November 28th for OFC and November 29th for the interview. There are a lot of people who have already explained in details of what happens at OFC, so I am not going to reiterate the same thing; however, I just have one tip. Reach early, you will be done early. My OFC was at 9:45AM, I reached at 8:20AM, done at 9:10AM. My Interview was at 9:00AM, reached at 7:40AM, done at 9:05AM. They take people in one schedule after another regardless of what’s the current time. The entire process is so smooth that you would be impressed the way they manage. Really amazing. When the security guys announce a time slot, people run as if the earlier they go the better are their chances to get a Visa. Just be calm and composed.

NO Electronic items are allowed at both the places, so please do NOT bring. At the interview place, there are some Auto drivers and taxi drivers who will approach you to keep your belongings with them in case if you are carrying. Will you really trust them with your cell phones and stuff? NO. Do not bring anything unless you have a person (friend or family) with you who can keep your things and wait outside.

One more thing before I post my interview. DO NOT try to overhear the questions and answers for others as they may distract you from your preparation. Remember, all types of Visa applicants appear in the same line as you and many of those questions would not even be applicable to you. Just stay focused on your prep.

Here’s my interview:

The guy before me got his Visa rejected. I saw the VO handing over the passport to him. VO was in his 30s. He waved at me to come forward. I waited till he does that.

VO: Good morning!
Me: Good morning and handed over the passport to him. (He asked at the same time)

He then was interrupted by someone inside and he switched off the microphone and closed the document window and started talking. This went on for 2-3 minutes and he returned.

VO: Sorry about that.
Me: No problem, Sir!

VO: Have you been to any other countries before? (He started moving pages in my passport and he noticed the stamps and nodded his head in the agreement before I answer)
Me: Yes, Singapore and UAE.

VO: Was that for business?
Me: No, Sir. Singapore was for vacation and UAE was for my honeymoon.
(He acknowledged and smiled a little. I wanted to say this whenever I get the opportunity that I am married. I believe they do not have time to go through everyone’s entire form as they take hundreds of interviews in a day ad neither do they ask everyone if you’re married)

VO: So what are you at (Company Name)?
Me: (Designation)

VO: What type of (Designation) do you do?
Me: Currently, I am working for a client who provides (product) in the US and Canada. I am handling a team of 9.

VO: Okay, so what are you going there for?
Me: Training, Contract Negotiations, Requirements Gathering and Business meetings because we will be working on the project back here.

VO: Are you authorized to negotiate the contract? (Thinking of my designation)
Me: No Sir. I will have my president there who will do it. (He nodded in the agreement.

VO: Your Visa is approved and you can collect your passport in 2 days.
Me: Thank you very much sir and have a good day!

The interview lasted for mere 4-5 minutes. Be confident and wear formals and company’s ID. You are applying for a Business Visitor Visa. I was not wearing a tie.

I received my passport the very next day. It was way quicker than I had expected. 10 years with multiple entry.

A little glimpse on my circumstances:

I am married and no children. Have visited two countries in the past. Salary is 4K+ PA and this is my first job and I am about to complete 8 years in this company.

Hope this helps and All the best!

Visa got rejected
Hello There.

My visa got rejected yesterday @ Chennai Consulate. I was given counter no 29, stood there waiting for my turn. A person, who was being interviewed, got rejected, so the person got angry and in frustration , he abused the consulate and left. I immediate went to the counter.

VO:Good morning
Me: straight away provided my passport., then I realized that I didn't greet back.

VO: purpose of your visit ?
Me:I'm going there for business meetings, discussions and installing new releases in the data center.

VO: when are you going to US ?
Me: going on 27th of Nov and coming back on 23rd of dec.

VO: place of visit ?
Me: Irvine,California and Malvern,Pennsylvania.

VO: name of your company.
Me: ZZZ, she could not hear, I repeated again.

VO: returned me passport and gave me form with 214b checked.
Me: thanked the VO and left.

I suspect I got rejected because of the purpose of my trip to USA, that I mentioned in my DS-160 form,

Purpose of Trip to the USA : TEMP.BUSINESS PLEASURE VISITOR (B)
Specify : BUSINESS/CONFERENCE (B1)

I'm trying to reapply @ Hyderabad, which is my home town, with the following purpose .

Purpose of Trip to the USA : TEMPORARY WORKER (H)
Specity : TRAINEE (H3)

please advise what went wrong and what are my options and how soon I can reapply

Regards
