VO : Why do you want to visit United states ?
Me :To attend the Second quarterly business meeting to strategize the testing concepts and operations.

VO : What is your designation ?
Me : Senior Test Engineer

VO : For how long you've been working for your company ?
Me : 3 years

VO : Which place you are going to ?
Me : California, Camarillo.

VO : What is the name of your client ?
Me : XYZ.

VO : What is the nature of your work ?
Me : Software and Game testing.

Then she gave me a form and told "Sorry, your VISA is rejected since you are ineligible". I was confident while answering to her questions.

What will be the reason ?

Me : going for business meeting and client interaction , purpose is to gather requirement for next product release and product knowlegde transfer.

VO : Have you visited any country before ?
Me : No.

VO : you have meetings with ?
Me: inhouse meetings and client meeting.

VO : How long you been working with company ?
Me : two and half year

at last she asked me How long you will be there ?
i said 10-12 week then she reacted bit different on this answer ,

and then she rejected my application ?

What will be the reason ?

My profile : Software professional 10+ years experience.

in 2012 i applied via a consultant for H1-B . i got 221G .it went into admin processing and a year later i got denied letter however the website still shows some admin processing . i dont care about that anymore.

now in july 2016 ,my current employer files B1 . i mentioned above case in DS-160 form. And interviewer asked my to explain .I explained everything .

 Then she asked me about my tenure in current company and explain.

i said i have 6 months exp in current company and i would be going for blah ! blah ! reason for 2 weeks .

she asked for my invitation letter and started asking explain about current employer . I said my employer is a product company into software development and office in noida ..etc.. etc .i kept explaining ,and she was heads down and typing ...

1 minute later she said we do not understand your employer sir , im sorry sir we cant grant you visa ... gave 214 b form..

Now the QUESTION is that my employer again wants to file B1 visa in october 2016 .Everything remains same except im applying after 9 months in current company .

1.WHAT DIFFERENT SHOULD I WRITE IN MY DS-160 for previous rejections ?
2. WHAT DIFFERENT DO I NEED TO EXPLAIN?

Here is my experience:
Biometric done on 30-Aug. It took only about 15-20 minutes. Appointment was for 11:45 but security allowed me in the queue at 10.45. Not a long queue and turn-around times are very fast.
Visa interview was scheduled for 1-Sep at 9 A.M.
Reached the consulate at 7.45 AM. There was a long queue of about 200 people. That was for 8 AM and the security did not allow others to stand in the queue. But that queue was cleared within 30 mins and I could get in the 9 AM queue by about 8.45. Inside, after the security check, they make you sit in another queue before letting you inside the building. But the whole process is very fast. Inside they do another round of finger scanning.(probably for verification). After that you get in the queue for interview.
Here are the interview details. VO was a mid-aged asian male.
VO: Did you have an H1B before?
ME: Yes
VO: How long did you stay last time?
ME: 2 years
VO: Are you going with the same company?
ME: No. It's my own company now. I am partner in my company and also an Individual software consultant.
VO: How may days are you going?
ME: 1 week
VO: Who is paying for the trip?
ME: I am paying for airfare and my client is paying for lodging and boarding.

That's it! No good morning or the "golden words" He just kept my passport.
Got 10 years B1/B2. (Note: In VISA application, I had selected only B1)

They will check the fingerprints once again today. Then you will be put in a queue near the Interview Windows. You will be able to see and feel the interviewers and their moods. DO NOT PANIC!!

(After Interview Started):

Officer: Good Morning! How are you? :)
Me: Good. How are you? :)

Officer: Please pass me your passport.
Me: Sure(..passed my passport..). Do you need wife and children's passports also?

Officer: Yes. Give me all.
Me: (..passed on all passports along with I797 that was stapled to it..)

Officer: Soooo.... your are going to US on H1b VISA?
Me: Yes

Officer: Who is your Employer?
Me: <name> told

Officer: Tell me something about them?
Me: They are a IT Consulting and s/w development firm.

Officer: What will you be doing for them?
Me: I will be working as a specialized worker for them. I will be doing development, analysis, deign and coding of s/w for them which will include technologies like Java, databases, SQL, web application etc. I specialize in doing Database development for SQL and NoSQL Databases. I also have a lot of experience in databases optimization and performance.

Officer: Why did you choose this employer?
Me: I was looking for a job and did search online. They had opening which matched my experience and skillset.

Officer: Please excuse me.
Me: She returns after few minutes.

Officer: Please pass on your Marriage Certificate and your children's passports.
Me: Here.

Officer: Mam! What are your children's names & DOBs?
Me: Tells

Officer: When did you get married?
Me: Date, Month and Year

Officer: Was there a big function? with lots of people?
Me: Yes. A lot!

Officer: Sir tell me something about your son/daughter?
Me: He/She is <age> years old. He/She goes to school and is very good at studies. He/She travelled with us when we last visited US. Today he/she is have his/her class exam and he/she is with his/her grandparents. mmmm...do you need any specific details? (She smiles and says no.)

Officer: Do you have his/her birth certificate in English?
Me: No. But you can see our names on his/her passport as well. (now she checks the passports..checks somethings on computer...)

Officer: When did you return form US?
Me: I returned in <Month> <Year>. (okay..then she murmurs somehthings...)

Officer: Who is your client? Tell me something about them.
Me: The Client is <Client Name> based out of <City>,<State>.

Officer: How many employees does this company have?
Me: Three(..she raises her eyebrows and looks a little concerned...)

Officer: Why such a small company?
Me: I choose this company as it is a small startup. <domain> Industry has a great potential to boom in near future. It is working with a client that specializes in building <domain> s/w and I have a lot of experience in <domain> s/w development. I believe that I can bring in a lot specialized experience into this and I hope to grow with the organization as it grows in future.

Officer: I am issuing your VISA.
Me: Thank you! Have a nice day!!

I apply for B1 Visa and got rejected twice and i am surprize myself? can i reapply for 3rd time but before that i need some experts advice here

i am working in small import and export group based in hyderabad with the the number 20 employees i am from last 4 years and 8 months with the salary 36000 as same i have shown in form DS-160. i am participating in US exporters annual conference seatle city washington.

in my first interview question:-
What is your purpouse of visit ?
which company you work for ?
since how long your working?
what is your annual salary?
whats your designation?
describe more about your roles and responsibilities?
Are you married?

Sorry this time we can't grant you the Visa, and hand over to me form (21b) they dint check any document?

In my second interview they ask the same question:-

1) whats your purpouse of visit?
i told them i am participating in us exporter annual conference organize by so and so comp

2) how do you know so and so organizer how did you get the invitaion they are your customer?
i said know we are member of so many portals and regulary get updates and information about events and oppertunities around the world so we got the invitation through online.

3) what your salary per anuum?
told them

4) since how long your working ?
i said i am into 5th year

5) are you married
yes

6) when did you get maaried ?
4 years back

7) do you have childrens
yes

8) how many and how old are they?
 childrens 3 and 1 year old

there was one question i did not understand properly i thing she ask me r you going to work there i thought are you going to work in abc company so i said yes. so am not sure

and she asked did you ever apply for visa i said yes i applied and 10 days before and she was asking why it was denied.

Thats it she said again sorry we cant grant you, why the reason is mentioned in form 21b thats it.

So am confuse know, whether my salary is the issue or i dint show up them full confident or they dont understand the concept or its my Bad luck running out.

my event conference date is 21 & 22 september so i have remain 13 days so should i make one more attempt applying 3rd time or it will creat bad impression.

Please somebody help me or guide me here how to deal?

Hello, I had applied for B1 at Chennai consulate & interview was scheduled on 30th August.

Day 1 , 3PM - Photo & Biometric information at the VAC. Just reach VAC before 30 mins of your appointment, head to 1st Floor where security will guide you appropriately.
Take only DS160 confirmation copy, appointment copy & Passport. You should be done within 30 mins as there are no queue's, many counters & process moves fast.

Tip : Avoid Bag, Laptop . Cellphones were not checked & I think you can take it along.

Day 2, 9AM - Queue started to build up already but they were only letting people who have appointment within 1 Hour of current time. So you are advised to reach 45 mins prior to appointment time.

No cellphone, bag, handbag . Only documents with a folder/file allowed

After passing through queue for physical security check & scan of document folder, I was routed inside the embassy office where B1/L1/H1 are redirected to different places.

Feel free to ask the staff , they are helpful

H1 applicants are asked to be seated in a hall in the beginning & others have to move on.

Post this, all L1/B1/B2 will join a common queue where staff will guide them to available counters.
Here passport is scanned & photo is verified by staff. No questions.

Later you will be guided to another line where Biometric is re verified. Here you will face an US officer . They will ask for your Given & Surname, DOB.

Then a staff asks you to join a specific counter based on L1 or B1 or B2 seperately.

VO - Why you want to travel to US?

Me - I have joined YYYY company as Lead. This travel will help me with Knowledge Transfer on YYYY topics which will be required for India IT operations. I also plan to meet stakeholders to understand the business processes.

VO - Where are you going?

Me- City & State Name

VO - When have you joined YYYY Company

Me - I have recently joined, its been more than a month.

VO - Where did you work previously?

Me - YYYY

VO - How long will be your travel?

Me - 2 weeks

VO - Ok, your Visa is approved.

Me - Thank you very much !!!

No documents asked other than Passport.

Some of the Tips are

> Do take all printout & related documents whether they ask or not
> Practice crisp answers to all common questions
> Dress appropriately, as per your experience. Formals / Blazers suggested
> Be very attentive & dont engage in un necessary conversation with others
> Hear carefully when in front of counter, as there is glass shield in between with a 3 ft gap between you & VO
> Smile & greet the officer as soon as he appears.

VO asked Following Question -

Ans - Since My indian company is acquired by a US company and I am the CEO of the company so in order to have meeting with Board of Directors and other C positions , to Participate in General Meeting to discuss the further Business and Revenue Plan/ Road Map for the Indian Company.

VO - Are you the founder of the company

Ans - Yes I am the founder of the company.

VO - Monthly Income -

Ans - Answered - Pretty good salary i Draw

VO - Duration of the trip

Ans - ten days

VO - Married of Single

Answered - Married , Told him, Recently got married , VO smiled and Congratulated me

VO - So where you been to your honeymoon

Ans - France , ITATLY and Greece ( Though i have already traveled more than 10 counties for business trip in the last four Year.

VO - Returned my Old Passport and kept the New one and advised " You would hear from us when your Visa is ready .

I received call from US company - they received a voice email to confirm my invitation and they would call again on Monday

Status i see while tracking my Visa - Your Passport is still with US Embassy"

VO - Did not look at any document i went with like my Invitation letter, financial of company and personal, Merger doc etc.

Could you help , is there any chances they can reject my Visa too... All the informations are right and my Employer can provide clarity about my invitation , and if they do not talk to right people who have no idea about my invitation then , will they reject my Visa ?

My OFC(biometric) happened on 27th August and Interview was scheduled for 29th August. I reached at the consulate 30 min before the interview.

i went to the VO and greeted her good morning.

VO: Passport Please.
Me: Yes, hear it is.

VO: What is the purpose of the visit?
Me I am going to us ti participate in business meeting and attend training on the product.
<i was aware that next question will be what product. Trick here is use some technical jargon according to your domain>

Me: As my client is xxxxx they are going to launch new generation of the product.. So i will have training on how to setup the product, what are the new feature's added, How to configure it with the xxxxxx App.

VO: How this training is going to help?
Me: This training will help me resolve bug and escalation.

VO: Are you from software?
Me: yes

VO: You belongs to xxxxxx company?
Me: yes

VO: You Visa Approved
