Travelling to Mexico with visitor visa extension pending
Hi,
My parents are here in US, visiting us from India. The date on their I-94 is Aug 10th. We will be applying for their visa extension (for 2 months) in the next couple of days. We are planning to travel to Mexico on a cruise for 3-4 daysin Sep. From all the experiences here, the approval for extension seems to be taking a very long time. Can we travel to Mexico when their extension appln is pending ? Will there be any issues when we reenter US ? Any insights into this will be very helpful.
Thanks,
AB

Extension and H1-B
Some comments are misplaced and misleading. When my employer filed for my H1-B visa and it was approved. I immediately requested for adjustment of status in the US and i received a favorable response. I thank God for His favors and grace. Next year my family will join me here in the US. The moral of the story is that you need to ask and believe Jesus - that He will listen to your cry. Life is still beautiful in the Philippines and we are going back probably after 3 years and decide what to do next. All within the allowable six months period granted.

extension denial
During my last visit to United States on B1/B2 visa, I requested for an extension of my stay approximately one month prior to I-94 expiry date (December 26th, 2008), as I needed to attend interview calls and complete Observership program.

My application was pending for several weeks until a denial notice was sent on 18th February 2009. Upon receiving this notification and original I-94 on 24th February 2009, I left United Stated immediately.
I am little bit confused if my 10 years multiple entry B1/B2 visa stamping still valid.

extension of stay rejected and 10 years multiple entry visa is void
Hello to all the users,
I had extended my stay after visiting USA last year. But unfortunately i got extension rejection and then i was asked to leave the country within 30 days. I called USCIS and they asked me to visit US consulate in the home country. I had read at various websites that visa are void.So i contact the US consular in New Delhi. I got the answer in writing that visa are not void. The visa is just the entry to USA. It is not the surety of entry into USA. one can use the same visa classification till its expiry date. I would personally like to advise users not to go for extension because it is complicated issue.

Visitor Visa (B2) denied - left USA with no problem but...
I have applied for a visitor visa extension for 3 months past the original permition of stay for my sister. Extension was applied around 5 weeks before (on May 28, 2008) the expiry date on the original I-94 (July 08, 2008). A denial notice was received on Sep 23, 2008 (it took almost 4 months to receive a response from USCIS California Service Center). Reason for the denial was mentioned as "absence of travel plans" for the requested extension of stay. The denial letter also mentioned that the applicant has to leave the country within 30 days of the date printed on the denial letter. My sister left USA within 10 days after receiving the denail letter. During the departure at the Airport in Chicago no one cared to look at either the expiry date on the original I-94 card nor the denial of extension of stay. Original I-94 card was collected by the Air Lines person at the check-in counter. My sister have a 10 year multiple entry visa which is valid until 12/2017. I have told my sister to safekeep the departure boarding pass and the denial letter. I have read through several forums on this topic and it is my understanding that though my sister overstayed past the date on the original I-94 card but left the country within the grace period provided in the extension denial notice she will have no problem during re-entering the country provided she shows all the supporting documents to the immigration officer at the port of entry. I am wondering if any one in the similar situation has re-entered USA with no roblem.
If you wish to share your experince in private or have any furthur questions please email me at [email protected]

Visa Void after application of extension is rejected???
Is this true that once extension of visitor's visa is applied and rejected, the 10 yr visa of that person stands cancelled? I came through a website which tells about the recent changes, that the visa is not cancelled provided the extension is applied timely and the person returns back to the country within the grace period provided...Please let me know the authenticity of the website I mention below and how true is this law?

US B1 Visa experience
B1 Visa Experience

Document preparation:
1. Interview letter issued by VFS.
2. HDFC bank receipt.
3. Invitation letter from company at US.
4. Your company's letter (in India) stating that they will sponsor your trip.
5. Salary slips of last 6 months.
6. Form 16/ Income tax receipt of last three years.
7. Educational certificates (10th,12th, degree etc)
8. Extra photo.

Above documents should be in original form. Also, keep photo copy of all these documents.

My interview timing was 12:00. So I took VFS lounge of VFS. If your interview is after 10:00 AM, then I'd recommend that you should go for it.

http://www.immihelp.com/immigration/the-stars-and-stripes-lounge-vfs.html

The interview got delayed by almost 2 hours (I think it is usual). VFS lounge people drops you at US consulate office before 15 mins.

Procedure at US consulate:
1. Security:
You are allowed only to carry your documents in plastic bag. You can carry your wallet. All other things are NOT allowed.

2. After security check, you are given the papers that you have sent while filling the Visa form. Also, they will give you pink slip (token) which contains number (which called during visa interview)

3. Then you proceed toward finger-scanning. Here you have to submit all the papers that you have received in 2 steps and your passport. Once your finger scanning is done, you are asked to seat before counters.

4. Waiting starts... You have to listen then announcement carefully. Because sometimes there is bit panic. Be alert and listen all the announcements carefully. There are around 16 counters.

5. Interview:

VO: pass me pink slip (token, that we received)
Me: passed...
VO: Why are you going there?
Me: explained...
VO: What is your CTC?
Me: explained.
VO: Why your manager not travelling with you?
Me: explained.
VO: Why company choose you over your colleagues?
Me: explained
VO: Have you granted leave application?
Me: No. It is official visit.
VO: Who will pay for your visit?
Me: My company back in India.
VO: Then came golden sentence. Your visa has been approved.
Me: Thanks.
