1. do i need to send all ORIGINALS to NVC? what if they are lost in transit etc?

2. If I send all originals to NVC, will i be asked to show them again at the time of interview?

L2 Visa Experience in Delhi
My wife's L1B visa got approved in Chennai on March 19. She was asked basic questions just to confirm her authenticity:
Employer, Nature of Work, Profile, Place of visit etc.. In fact, the interviewer reminded her that the spouse can work and she should exercise this option.

I applied for L2 at Delhi Consulate.

Day 1 @ OFC at Nehru Place on April 7

1. Reached on time for the appointment. There was que long enough to make me stand out for 15 mins
2. No documents or other proofs asked for. Only presented my DS160 and appointment letter.
3. Photographs and Biometrics done.
4. Security is not extremely tight there. They allow small bags and other material to be carried inside but water bottles are to be left outside.

Day 2 @ Embassy

1. Had my interview scheduled at 11AM, reached by 10:45 AM. The queue for 11AM slot had already started at Gate 6.
2. I deliberately avoided taking my car since there's no parking in the vicinity. I guess closest parking would be at Nehru Park or Ashok Hotel. People with driver's may have some flexibility.
Race Course Road Metro Station is only 3 KM (5-7 min), Rs 33 by auto meter :)
3. They allow mobile phones to be left in deposit outside the embassy.
4. The support staff inside do a primary check on documents. I was asked for my Passport Copy, DS160, my wife's stamped I-129S. Though the screen there continuously flashes that they have all the documents they need, but it's advised everywhere to carry all the documents along, as backup.
The message what flashes on the screens there pretty much explains everything. It is only a interview, not interrogation. They have majority of information.
4. Once in, at the window, the sweet lady didn't bother me much. She only took my passport and my wife's I-129S.
5. Questions asked:
           a. What does your wife do?
           b. Name of her employer?
           c. What is the nature of her work?
           d. How long have you been married?
           e. And then, as it got a little candid, she asked me if it was an arranged marriage. And how we guys met.
She happily informed that my visa is approved and wished me a happy stay!

No proofs asked for marriage certificate, photographs or anything else. Though I was carrying some marriage photographs and original certificate too.

Just to add.. I have been to US earlier as a bachelor, and had mentioned my SSN number and other details in the form.

Passport Collection was a little troublesome. I wasn't able to goto Nehru Place to collect my passport on time and hence had to goto Consulate to collect my passport.
Remember, the OFC keeps passport with them only for the first 14 days after the message is sent out.

Need Help in Family Based Green Card
Hello,

I am the petitioner mother of over 21 years old unmarried daughter. She came to USA to get her green card in 2010 May but unfortunately she became over age, she did not get her green card and she had to go back to India in 2010. At the same time before she left I filed I-130 for her. She got a student visa from Bombay embassy in 2013 and currently doing her masters in USA. I got her approval notice in October 2013. Now the National Visa Center may send the file to Bombay embassy (India).

Now I have few questions ----

1) Can I inform National Visa Center and change her address from India to USA? So that she can get her green card faster as it takes 7 to 8 years waiting time in India.

2) Can she get an Employment based green card faster than this Family based Green Card ? how?

Please guide me as I don't know the immigration laws.

I am very much thankful to immihelp.com and Forum.

F1 on OPT - Name Change for GC Application
I am F1 on OPT that will expire on May 19th this year. I just got married and want to file the GC application. I have a question about the name change. I have court hearing on March 20th for changing my last name, however, I am afraid to wait and file GC then as that is cutting too close to my EAD expiration date May 19th. I would like to file now so I get my work visa prior to expiration of my EAD. However, I already paid name change fee. I am not really sure what to do. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks

RFE PROOF OF LEGAL TERMINATION OF MARRIAGE
Just got my hard copy of my RFE. They listed 3 subjects they need more evidence on.

2 of them not a big deal(Photos and G-325A Request).

The third is a little more difficult.

It is the following:

PROOF OF LEGAL TERMINATION OF MARRIAGE:

Submit proof of the legal termination(s) of MY WIFE NAME.

Such of proof would normally be a final(absolute) divorce decree, death certificate, annulment, etc. In order for the legal termination of a marriage to be considered valid for immigration purposes, it must have been registered with a civil authority. Note: A Divorce Nisi is not considered to be evidence of a final divorce.

First of all, she has never been married before and I doubled checked all the boxes for marital status on the forms and they all are marked correctly with either "single" or "never married" and in the sections for previous spouses, we wrote "none". I am really confused why we got this part of the RFE. I cannot get proof of legal termination of Marriage because like I said before, my wife has never been married before.

If anyone has had this happen or have suggestions about it I would appreciated it.

Help please.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions.
