I-130 petitions for spouses
Wow! Got my I-130 approved for wife in 6 weeks! Case off to NVC. Are the priority dates subject to I-130 application? Submitted in July 2013, approved in Sept. Priority date (PD) was July 11th and NVC VISAs F2A PD is Sept 2013.

It take approx 2 months at NVC to get case number, will they set new priority date or go by what was on I-130 notice?

Thankfully, seems like things are speeding up....

Good luck all!

I130 for parents
Hi

I received a NOTICE OF ACTION from USCIS for my applications (for my mom and dad) on Jan 27 2012.

However, there is no status update for these cases on the website. I called the USCIS number for an update and the officer mentioned that the files have just cleared the National Benefits Center.

Any idea what this means? And how much longer it will take to get a decision?

My parents are currently in India and I have opted for them to get the visa there itself.

Thanks

Urgent.I130 for parents
Hi, i need some urgent help. I applied i130 for my parents sepretly, after6 month i got a letter "notice of action"from immigration, they said the birth certificate i submitted was registered on feb 2006, 26 years after the actual event occurred, so they want me to submit some oldest available evidence that establishes that my parents are really my parents. So i got affidavites from my aunt and a family friend. My aunt is younger than my father but she was present at the time of my birth, so her affidavite is good for my father, and can these two affidavites are ok for both,my mom and dad or do i need 2 different affidavites for each.
2.my father got my birth record in muncipil office, and he get the copy of it. Can i send that with affidavites. Please give me some advice as soon as possible. Thanks

Now that my student visa has expired since I have been here since 2007, I am still maintaining my I20 in a valid status since am on OPT now, does it affect me anyways? i want to go back home for a visit but I am afraid I will not be granted a visa again for my MBA..what do you guys think? please, advice me

Regarding the petition filed for I130
Hi There

If any one can guide on this a bit.Our petition for immigrant visa was files in May 2005 and in November 2009 we got the letter of notice for the approval of the application and now sent to the National visa center or Department of state.Since than after we have not heard anything from them ,no email notification or no further instruction to be taken.I have heard after the Post Decission activity the interview call is being sent in the home country where after they get the approval for green card means after the interview at the US Embassy .

But its now nearly three years and nothing has come up or when we check online on USCIS website putting our receipt number but the status since Nov 2009 in on the post decission activity ,so what can be this and when are the chances for us to get a call for the interview or what will be the next step or how long still it is going to take more for us to get our green card.

Please if any one knows about this and can guide us and is this a routine procedure or it is particualrly taking long in our application ,please guide.

Thanks

Hello :D,
This site helped myself and my husband alot with our preperation for our Immigration interview and with putting our I485 and I130 application packs together.
I would like to share our experience of the process to hopefully help others as it is a very daunting and sometimes confusing process to navigate not to mention stressfull, I had many a sleepless night worrying if I had added everything that would be needed to our packs!
Here is the following timeline from start to finish.

July 24th 2012 - Mailed I485 and I130 packs via Recorded Express mail so we could track its progress.

July 25th 2012 - Packs Arrived at USCIS unit.

July 27th 2012 - recieved reciept of arrival from USCIS dated 25th July.

July 31st 2012 - Recieved a letter to go for Biometrics on 28th August.

28th August 2012 - Biometrics done only took a few minutes but be warned the photo they take is the one they use on your EAD and Green card! mine was terrible but im stuck with it :P

06th September 2012 - recieved letter for Immigration interview on 11th October.

26th September 2012 - recieved EAD went and applied for ss card.

05th October 2012 - recieved SS Card.

11th October 2012 - Immigration interview Green card granted :D .

20th October 2012 - recieved my Green card :D .

Our Immigration interview was a very scary time I didnt sleep the night before and was totally freaking out on the day!
you hear so many horror stories of it being like an army interigation and being ripped apart from each other and put on the next flight home!!!
Our experience was nothing like that it was a very relaxed interview the officer was very friendly and put us at ease, we had our interview together we were sworn in and the whole interview is recorded via video.
We were asked a few questions just basic ones like name, address ect, the officer then went on to verify our original documents with the copies in our pack, the whole thing probably took about 30 minutes start to finish and at the end of the interview my Green card was granted.
My advice to anyone would be to be prepared and make sure you take everything to the interview with you along with your supporting evidence.
In 2 years time I will renew my Green card and apply to have the conditions removed, then in 3 years I will do my Citizenship and hopefully become an American citizen.
Good luck to everyone going through this process :D

Family Based Green Card
I'm a US Citizen, originally from Peru, I'd like to share my experience because I it might be helpful since I consulted this page many times and I was able to find some helpful information, however I made a mistake in one of my forms and I couldn't find any similar experience so hope this helps. I filed form I-130 in january 2012 and sent the initial evidence required for the form, however 2-3 weeks later I got a letter RFE (request for evidence) which required me to send evidence about my dad because the name on the I-130 form and my birth certificate were different, the letter shows many options I decided to send all copies of my dad's personal documents, bank cards, credit cards, and 3 affidavits from 2 aunties and my mom, I wasn't sure if these needed to be notarized, I called many times USCIS customer service and they are pretty robotic, they just read of the website, so I requested my call to be escalated to a supervisor or an officer that can give me an answer because these sometimes can be very expensive abroad, so I got transfered to a rep that advised me that the affidavits don't need to be notarized, only signed by the person doing the affidavit, so the affidavits were written by my family members plus and another antie signed all the affidavits as a witness and then I got them transtaled into english, well a month later after I submitted it I got the I-130 approved and forwarded onto NVC for consular processing, by may 2012 I got emails from NVC with information for my dad and also an authorization to release information to me as sponsor to act on his behalf here in the US, later on I got the AOS bill and I paid it and then I mailed it with all the information, I currently don't work because I have a child so I filled 2 AOS one for me and another my husband and I sent the documentation needed about 2 weeks later I received the bill for form DS-260 and paid it then I got the access to fill the form, here I had to sent orginal documents such as certificates and passport size pictures, plus my dad's copies of police reports, court records and judicial records, this was around the begining of july 2012, I have to say that it's not hard but there is a lot of work to do sending by mail, filling out forms and gathering documentation, once NVC had everything completed the case was closed and fowarded onto the local embassy for interview, here took a bit longer because NVC schedules the appointments a month out, lets say for my dad they scheduled during august for september, so the medical exams were completed and he got some vaccinations as well none of these expire, 2 passport pictures plus the originals for the documents I submitted copies. well my dad's interview was very succesful, he was asked about 3 questions, if he ever had been in the US, last time I travel to Peru and why my mom wasn't traveling, he was finger printed and given a letter so he can go online to register for the return of his passport with visa and other documents he needs to enter the US, takes about 3 days to get the DHL tracking.
