H1B Mumbai Consulate
Greetings to all the buddies!
I am very happy to inform, My VISA was stamped in the Mumbai Consulate.
All those who got your date for the appointment. Get Ready to grab the visa at the consulate. All you need is Faith in God and Confidence in yourself.

And for all those, who are awaiting for the petetion papers, have patience.

And those with 221(g). Have Faith and Leave it to God. God will take care of it, but in his time.

My Experience:

As you enter the mumbai consulate, you will be given a wood token. I didnt understand the logic behind this. There isnt any no or a mark on this token, but you need to carry it through out.
Then you will have your security check and will be permitted inside.
Where you will recieve the DS 156 /157 Forms that were submitted to VFS.
You must align your Yellow Envelope (There is the address, where u wanted ur passport to be delivered), VISA appointment letter, technical questionnaire, I797, I129. You will be given a pink token. Here is the No, according to which you shall be called for the interview. Thats it! Nothing else is mandory.

You will be asked to que in counter 1. Here you must submit the above mentioned forms. And have to do the finger prints.

You can be seated and wait till your no is called. The VO Will call several nos randomly. You need to be very alert and follow the VOs as they dont repeat the no.

Line up in the VO QUE. Chill and Relax. Be Calm. Dont be Nervous. The VO wants to favor you. God will help you.

The Questions that were asked: Its like an normal cahier counter. You will have a phone outside. You have to look at the VO and speak through Phone. The complete interview will be recorded.

Why do you want to goto USA?
How did you get this job?
What is your present Designation?
How big your present Comapny?
What is the expertise of the present Comapny?
What is your present profile?
Where is the company in US?
How much are they offeriong you? US
What are your technical expertise?
(She will go through the Questionnaire and can ask you anything that you have mentioned as your skills, she asked me the versions of various software)
What was the selection process? US
Which month did you have your interviews? US
How do you know the authorised signatory in the petetion?
How many people are working for the US Comapny?
How many indians are working for the company? US
Did you have any other offers?
What are those comapnies names?
What happened to those offers?
Do you have anyone else travelling with you?

Below is Checklist

1) Visa Appointment Letter (IMP)

2) H1B Questionnaire (This is only for the Mumbai Consulate) (IMP)

3) Resume, covering Letter and references.

4) Passport (Current and Copy of the Previous) (IMP)

5) I 797 Petition Original (IMP)

6) Employers Recommendation Letter to the Consulate

7) Copy of the Letter from the Attorney stating the Filing Fees Details, that was submitted to the INS.

8) G28 (Notice of Entry of appearance as attorney or representative) (Optional)

9) I907 (Premium Processing) (optional)

10) I129 H1B (Data Collection, Filing Fee Exemption, Supplement) (IMP)

11) LCA (Form Certified)

12) Evaluation of Academic Credentials

13) US Company Profile and WebPages

14) Letter stating my responsibilities and Requirement for propesed Designation.

15) Job Offer Letter (IMP)

16) Company Brochures

17) Organization Chart

18) Photographs for VISA (IMP)

19) My Current and previous employment details, with pay slips. Previous and present organization WebPages.
20) Academic Certificates

21) Other Certificates

22) PAN Card, Utility Bills, and Bank Statements

Note: If your I129 is proper, you will not be asked for anyother document. I would advise all of you, give approximate answeres. For Example, if the VO asks how many people are working in the company? Though in the petetions it is XX No. Say More than XX No.

The petetion is not meant for you. It is meant for the VO. Legally we should not peak into it.

Ok, All the Best Buddies.

Cheers,

Hi friends, i am very much benifited with this website, thanks to people who are doing gr8 job like this and also to all the ones who are posting their valuable experiences here. Here is mine:

Following are the questions asked to me(actually it was a very short interview compared to the one who had standing in front of me, mine lasted for 3 mins whereas other had upto 15 mins)

1) Are you going to work for xyz company?(after checking the approval letter)

2) Do you have work experience?

3)Have you ever worked for XYZ company?

4)How did you know about xyz Systems?

5)Does xyz company has any clients?

To which client are you going to work for?

On which project are you going to work?

What would be your job profile?

What exactly you would be doing in the project?

Do you already have exposure to work in that environment?

Whats your educational background? (asked me to show the degree certificate)

thats it, be sure that you are confident enough in replying to his questions. You will definetly get it.

Successful H1B Stamping in Chennai
Thanks to all for sharing your experiences in this forum. Experiences posted in this forum helped me to prepare well for the interview.

My interview was really tough. Somehow I managed it. My sincere suggestion is, Be confident while attending interview and clear about your role and responsibilities in the current as well as future company. The consulate officer wants to check whether the concerned person is really eligible for H1B visa or not. So it’s your responsibility to prove that.

==========================================
Location: Chennai
Appointment Date: 22nd September 8 to 8.15AM
My education details: BE in Mech Engg.

I went to the consulate at 7.30 AM and found a big queue, waiting to enter consulate. Then I have gone through all the security processes and reached the queue in front of counter#2 at 7.52AM itself. Then all of sudden, I have been asked to go and meet VO at counter#3. So I didn’t notice any other visa interviews.
Following is the excerpt of my conversation with VO.

Me: Good Morning Sir
VO: Good Morning (I have handed over my DS 156/157 and passport to the officer)
VO: (After 30 secs) Can I see your degree certificate? [I passed it]
VO: Can I see your mark sheets? [I passed it]
VO: So you have done only one computer course during your graduation.
Me: Yes sir.
VO: Sir, based on your educational qualification, you are not eligible for this visa. We will talk about your experience later.
Me: Sir, I am doing my Master's from XYZ university, XYZ City [USA] thru distance education and I will be completing it by April 2006
VO: Can you show me your mark sheets for that program? [I passed it].
VO: [After 10 seconds] We won’t consider distance education. So still my opinion is that you are not eligible for this visa based on your educational qualification.
Me: Also I have done postgraduate diploma course in Software from Government of India affiliated institute after my graduation.
VO: Can you show me the certificate? [I passed it]
VO: But this institute is not deemed university. So we wont recognize this also. So you are not eligible for this visa, based on your educational qualification.
Me: Ok sir [with artificial smile]
VO: Where is your working now?
Me: I am working for XYZ company
VO: Whets your responsibilities?
Me: My role is to design and develop of XYZ products. At present I am working on development of ABC product.
VO: Which language you use to develop that product?
Me: Blah...Blah technologies
VO: Where are you going to work in USA?
Me: Explained...[product development]
VO: You are going to work for any customers?
Me: No sir. I will be working from my employers place.
VO: Please go and pay the fee in counter#1
Me: Thank you.
