Hi

I am due for a H1 interveiw shortly in Oct 2005.
My 2 concerns are as under :
1) I am presently working for a big MNC in India , am holding a junior manager profile . The offer which i presently have from US is for a start - up company established in Year 2000 and profile is an engineer's profile .

Will this be a problem , if i am asked during the interveiw about my designation/role in present company in India and my designation/role with the company in US , as there is change in role.A bit of a down-grade from Junior management to Engineer role.

2) The company in the US has very less number of employees . If i am asked about the strength of the employees in the US company (which is single digit as mentioned in the petition and i would obviosly say the right figure ), and since they are very less , will this create problems? If so how do i tackle these questions.

Request your help in this regard.
Thanks Ravi

Got H1B approved - Non-IT back groud
Hello everyone,

The experiences from this site were of great help. I got my H1B approved last week. I come from NON-IT back ground and with 5 yrs IT experience.

I would suggest that the following.
1. You read the experiences, and at the same be prepared with answers for such questions in your context.
2. Know more about your employer and the kind of work that you will be doing.

Below is the conversation between Officer and myself.

1. So what is your new company? Consulting or Product based.
2. What kind of products?
3. What will you do with those products?
4. Who are the customers for your employer?
5. What is your education qualification?
6. YOu have a NON-IT degree How will do this IT job?
7. Show me your degree certs
8. You have just done some IT courses, but you havent done any major assignments. Show me your experience letters.

He was convinced after looking at the those letters.

Good luck for the rest and preprare yourself before you attend for interview.

Thanks
Akg

Successful H1B Stamping at chennai consulate
Hi All,

I got my H1B stamped successfully at chennai consulate on Sep 22, 2005. The interview was a bit lengthy since i am a NON IT graduate, but based upon the work experience i was able to convince the officer that i am eligible for H1B. Keep urself cool and look into the eyes of the officer when you answer, show that you are confident in what you speak. All the best for all,

I am person from IT software dev field. On appointment letter/Fee receipt it was mentioned that my interview was scheduled at 8:30 am.Althought it was entry time in consulate.Keep in mind.Interview can happned any time between your entry time in consulate and before 5pm.
My actually happened at 2:30 pm.It was lasted for 10 min.Following are the Qs they asked me.
1) where will you be staying in usa?
2) what is employer strength?
3) why do you want to leave current employer?
4) show me your appointment letter with current employer.
And that's it all.Give short answer.
And never ever mention "Consultant".If they ask simply say you are employee there/or designation.
