H1B PAI @ Chennai on Nov 15th
Guys,

I had my PAI at Chennai consulate on Nov 15th.

Questions that VO asked:

1. Who is your client?
2. Which location?
3. What is your annual salary?

and then he said "Your visa is approved".

I received my passport on Nov 17th itself.

Small advise is not to take mobile phone and smart watches. Even in switched off mode, they did not allow mobiles inside.

All the very best !!!

H1b Stamping@ New Delhi, Got 221 (g)- Need End Client letter
I was eligible for the dropbox for Visa Stamping. Following is my experience:

Oct 3: Submitted documents through Dropbox

Oct 13: Notified by email to collect the Passport.

Oct 14: Collected the Passport and realized that there is no Visa Stamping and saw a 221(g) letter asking me to appear for the Visa Interview.

Oct 20: Appeared for the Interview.

I am working for Employer 'A' and my end-client is 'B'. The end-client has State projects and I am working on one of those projects.

Following were the questions asked:

Me: Good morning Officer .

VO: Good morning. Since how long you have been working for Employer 'A'

Me: Replied

VO: Who is your end client ?

Me: Replied ('B')

VO: Can I have the end -client letter

Me: Showed her the end client letter

VO: But who is you final end client?

Me: Replied 'B'

VO: She asked again' Final end client ?

Me: I replied 'State of XX'

VO: Which Department ?

Me: Replied

VO: Can you show me letter from 'State of XX'?

Me: I again showed my end client letter which I showed earlier and explained her this is my end client and I only have letter from them ( which in my case is 'B')

VO: gave me a 221 (g) and requested for the following documents :

I-797, LCA, I-129, and end client letter and she wrote in Bold - Letter from 'State of XX'.

She said send this letter to the ID mentioned and you are good.

Though, I had the Work order from my end client which clearly states that I am working on this state project then why is the letter required from the 'State of XX'.

I explained everything to my Employer and my employer said that they will get the letter from the central team of 'B' and send the response to consulate.

Nov 7: My Employer replied to the consulate with all the documents and the letter. ( this was not the letter from 'State of XX', but letter from my end client 'B' detailing the contract between my Employer 'A' and the end client 'B' and my services.

Nov 15: Got a reply from support@ustraveldocs 'Your case is currently on hold under Section 221(g) of the Immigration pending submission of Letter from 'State of XX' . Please submit the following documents in PDF format to [email protected] .

My query is :

1. Since me and my employer are unable to get the letter from 'State of XX' as my end client 'B' cannot provide this letter for the Sub-Contractors. They can only provide the letter in a standard format. Can anyone suggest any alternative.

2. I tried to reach out the Visa processing Centre- Customer Care and explained my case in detail. I wanted to know, if I can take an appointment again to explain my case to the VO but the executive replied that I can only send them an email to convince them and have to wait until they reply.

3. Lastly,Has anyone faced the same situation and if so, what was the approach

221g administrative processing delay - new Delhi
I submitted the application for h1b restamping on 13 Oct. Got 221g for fingerprints and interview. Appeared for both on 27th at new Delhi.
Vo told me that everything looks good with the case but there might be delays in process and didn't give a clear estimate.
It's been more than 3 weeks now and visa tracker still shows Under Administrative processing.
Did anyone have similar experience? Any idea on why they might be taking so much time? Any timeline estimates?

H1B Visa question
Presently I am on L1 Visa and My I-94 expiring on 22nd Nov 2017. My company has filed My H1B Cap and it got approved two days back. I have not yet got the approval notice copy in my hand. My company applied Change of status from L1 to H1B while filing H1 B. Two months back I have visited India for an emergency case while H1B was processing.

Now have below queries:

I am not sure MY new H1B petition copy is I797-A or B,Since I have visited India while H1B was processing. Is it OK to overstay after 22nd Nov 2017 until I get H1B papers?

If I get I797-A, will I get I-94 Number from my recent arrival? ( I have traveled in India and I got new I-94. If I get Old I-94 extension, Is it valid?

Please reply If any one has any Idea about this.

1st time H1B - Mumbai
Appeared for interview on 16th Nov and picked up my passport w/ approved visa on 17th.
10:00 am interview time, I went there an hr. early.

Following questions were asked:
1. Can I have your passport?
2. Where will you be located?
3. Will you be working offsite?
3. What is your designation and responsibilities?
4. Highest education?
5. Explain your research?
6. So your research directly connects with your current job? Explain.
7. What is your income?
8. Are you married?
9. Have your parents found someone for you?
10. Will you be getting married while you're on H1B?

I got a bit nervous about the last two questions, because she stopped typing and was thinking about something.

Finally she said visa has been approved..

A few points (also mentioned by others):
1. Please bring all the documents provided in the checklist (even though I was asked for my passport only). Better to be on the safe side.
2. Feel free to ask VO to repeat the question. I asked atleast 4 times to repeat what she had said.
3. If you have done research and asked about it, pls. provide an overview of your work that can be understood by a non-technical individual.
4. Be honest and try to have a conversation. Preparation is a must, but pls don't sound too rehearsed.

All the very best!

Attended visa interview at Mumbai consulate last year for Company 'B' but was handed over white slip asking for project details. Company 'B' never replied back therefore transfer I-797 to company 'C' which got recently approved by USCIS. I plan to go for visa interview next month at Mumbai consulate.

My question- if they ask me "Is this your first H1b? what should I say?
Pls help.
