Quick question
Hi Experts,

I work for big US employer as a full time employee and next month i am travelling to India and have to go for visa interview. I went through most of the visa interview experiences here and it really gives good idea of all the questions. In my case i work on internal ERP system (maintenance release and sometime projects ) which is used by our internal people.

What should i say if VO ask about my project details, as such i don't have any project document.

is it safe to say - i am full time employee and work (analysis, design ,develop and maintain)on internal ERP system which is used by internal employee for global support?

Thanks and appreciate your help.

H1B @ Hyderabad
Hello All,

Thanks to all for posting their experiences. It gave me enough confidence and information to prepare and attend interview. I love this forum because people would like to give it back , helping others. I wish this will resemble in our society for good being.

Coming to the interview, it was a cakewalk for me. I don't say everyone will experience same kind of interview. So be prepared to answer any kind of question. Good preparation about employer, client, project, roles and responsibilities, your education related(like a non IT guy coming into IT) etc. So that it will give enough confidence to face interview.

This is how my interview was started( ended in less than 30 seconds)

VO: Hey How are you doing?
Me: I didn't even wish him, he asked me passport
VO: Your Passport Please
Me: Passed
VO: Who is your Employer?
Me: Told petitioner name
VO: What is your qualification?
Me: Told my qualification
VO: What is your salary?
Me: Told my salary

Thats it!!

VO: Issuing your Visa, Have a nice day( they were wrapping up interviews in all counters).

Wished him same and left the consulate.

My intake from the interview was to prepare fullest. Talk to the point to face. Carry as many documents as you can. They won't ask, but it would be always better to not end up with any 221g and finish interview on the same day.

Congratulations whoever got their Visa and All the best to whoever going for stamping.

221g Blue
Hi All,

Attended the H1 visa interview last week in Mumbai.

Vo : Which company ?

Vo : Which client ?

Vo : Location

Vo : Project

Then he asked my spouse

Vo : Are you excited to go to US ?

Vo : Which location
Mentioned wrong location

Vo : asks same question again
Mentiond wrong again.

Vo gave me yellow slip asking me to be seated. Also asked for the company documents, I797 and passports. He also told my dependents can leave if they want to. After 40 mins was called and handed over all the company documents, passports , I797 and also the blue 221g marking only requires administrative processing on it and also the white rights pamphlet.

Not sure why this happened. Please advice.

H1-B visa Hyderabad
Hello all,

Thanks everyone for posting your experiences.

Here is mine.

VO: Good Morning madam.
Me: GM sir.

VO: Who is your employer?
Me: Answered.

VO: Were you in the Unites States before?
Me: Yes

VO: On which status did you go earlier?
Me: F-1

VO: Where did you go to school during that time?
Me: Answered.

VO: Did you ever work on CPT/OPT?
Me: Answered

VO: How long were you with this company?
Me: Answered.

VO: Where were you working before(location)?
Me: Answered.

VO: What were the details of the client which you were working earlier before this one?
Me: Answered.

VO: What are your roles and responsibilities?
Me: Told

VO: Were you working from home at that time?
Me: Nope. I was working from the company.

VO: Who was your boss there?
Me: Told.

VO: I see that there are very bad reviews with your petitioner. Did you really work with him those years.
Me: I am very confident that I worked all those years. I have all the proofs that I worked all those years. I am not sure about what you are talking exactly.( Since I really worked I was so confident).

VO: Do you know that your company doesn't have enough money to pay your salary and have very bad reviews.
Me: I said it never happened to me but yes I saw them.

VO: Thanks for being honest. Then why are you still with them.
Me: I had to come to India for an emergency. MY client already offered me a full time position. I will be moving as soon as I am back.

VO: Again, thanks for being honest. Did they take money from you for applying your H1-B visa?
Me: No. ( Since they really did not take money from me).

VO: What is the current address of the client location?
Me: Told.

VO: Can you give me any landmarks around your office?
Me: Answered.

VO: Please let us know if your petitioner does any more frauds to you. You won't be under risk but he will be under risk.
Me: Sure Sir. Thank you.

VO: OK madam. I am issuing your visa. Do you have the rights pamphlet.
Me: I said No. He gave me one.

Now after 5 hours I am checking my status online for visa it is saying "Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days."

I am not sure what is exactly happening. Does this mean my visa is approved or it is in admin processing and still takes time?

I wasn't asked a single document. I was told just that my visa is issued.

Has anyone faced a similar situation? Please respond.

Passport tracking - h1b - visa approved - March 4- kindly advise
Hi,

I got my visa approved on March 4 which is a Friday.

As consulate dont work on sat and Sun, which means business days processing of visa starts effectively from March 7 (yesterday).

As of today (Mar 8), i still see the status as 'Passport is still with post'

is it anything to be concerned about or i should be waiting till close of today or by Mar 9th (3 business days ) to get a status change in passport tracking.

fyi - my visa was approved and VO did not mention any of admin. processing etc (nor) gave me any slip.

Please advise.

My visa interview experience - h1b - March 4 - chennai
Location : chennai

VO: Can i have your passport please ?
Me : i gave him.

VO: Who is your employer?
Me: answered

VO: How did you get to know the employer ?
Me: answered

VO: What was your interview based on for hiring you for this position?
Me: Answered

VO: Will you be working at client side or is it an internal project ?
Me : Answered

VO: Do you have any project document with you?
Me : answered and gave him the project document

VO was typing for about 2 minutes and then said he had to check something and in meanwhile asked me to be seated for some time and he will call me back

i had to wait for 2 hours as that counter was full all the time. in between - VO directed me to another counter so that they can help finish it quick. A lady from counter asked for all other petition related documents and asked me to hold on for a few minutes

Then came a call for me to to the main counter and there you go as VO started - sorry for making you wait , your visa is approved and gave me back all my documents and retained the passport Also informed me to please remember to read non immigrant rights and gave me the rights pamphlet

VO told me that i would get my passport in a week's time.

Mine was for a cap exempt change of employer h1b stamping. fyi - my first h1b interview was a refusal back in 2014 with a different employer

Hope it helps ppl who were in a similar boat !!
