H1 B stamping experience
I read these forums prior to my interview and this was helpful hence sharing my experience. I am working for a Big 4 firm and had the following experience in my visa interview in Mumbai in March 2016. Note that I have been living in the US and this stamping was for my visa extension.

Biometrics appointment a day prior to the visa interview was uneventful - in and out in less than 15 mins and no questions asked.

Visa appointment:
Arrived at the consulate 45 mins prior to the interview. There was a long line that I waited in prior to entering the consulate. First went through the security check - it is critical to not have anything on your possession - other than your paperwork.

Once I got past the security check - a security guard asked what visa category I was applying for and asked me to wait in the outside courtyard. He told a few others to go directly in based on their visa categories - not sure what the rationale was. Anyhow, after waiting for approx 30 mins was led into the consulate building. They collected my passport and asked me to wait in line. At this window they scanned my passport and took my fingerprints again and handed my passport back to me.

Following this - stood in another queue and was told to stand behind a window where the visa officer was seated. On my turn, I stepped up to the window and the following questions were asked:

VO - Hi how are you?
Me - Good, how about yourself?
VO - Good, passport and I 797 please
Me - Handed both documents over - she scanned the sticker on the back of the Passport
VO - What is your designation with your Firm
Me - Answered
VO - When did you start working with them?
Me - X months ago.
VO - Have you received the rights pamplet - though you are probably aware of the details on this as you have been in H1b status before.
Me - Yes thanks.
VO - Your visa is approved, have a good day
Me - You too, Thanks.

Received an email saying that the passport was ready for pickup in the evening on the same day.
Went in the next morning and picked up my passport with the visa stamped.
Thanks and good luck to everyone.

221g White Slip
I was interviewed on 19th Feb, 2016 at New Delhi consulate for non profit H1B. I answered all the questions asked by the VO and showed all the documents he asked. At the end he said, everything is fine and you are on track and asked me to go to another window. An Indian lady kept my passport with i-797 and gave me a white slip of 221g. The lady told me that it will take at-least 2-3 weeks. I submitted my CV, past and current research, purpose of visit etc in the desired format and emailed on 24th Feb, 2016. In the CEAC website there was a change of date in the update section on March 11th from feb 19th and message was still showing " administrative processing". Is there anyone else facing similar situation ?

H1B stamping
I work for employer A currently. I got my H1B petition approved last year through another consultancy B .I am planning to go for stamping in 1st week of april. My employer A does not know about it and is not ready to transfer H1 which have not been stamped. Now employer A is planning to file a cap-subject new H1 for FY 2017 on April 1st. My concern is whether there will be any issues when I go for stamping in 1st week of april for employer B. VO can find that even Employer A has filed a new petition when I go for stamping and can question me on the same? Will there be any issues during stamping due to this?

Quick question
Hi Experts,

I work for big US employer as a full time employee and next month i am travelling to India and have to go for visa interview. I went through most of the visa interview experiences here and it really gives good idea of all the questions. In my case i work on internal ERP system (maintenance release and sometime projects ) which is used by our internal people.

What should i say if VO ask about my project details, as such i don't have any project document.

is it safe to say - i am full time employee and work (analysis, design ,develop and maintain)on internal ERP system which is used by internal employee for global support?

Thanks and appreciate your help.

H1B @ Hyderabad
Hello All,

Thanks to all for posting their experiences. It gave me enough confidence and information to prepare and attend interview. I love this forum because people would like to give it back , helping others. I wish this will resemble in our society for good being.

Coming to the interview, it was a cakewalk for me. I don't say everyone will experience same kind of interview. So be prepared to answer any kind of question. Good preparation about employer, client, project, roles and responsibilities, your education related(like a non IT guy coming into IT) etc. So that it will give enough confidence to face interview.

This is how my interview was started( ended in less than 30 seconds)

VO: Hey How are you doing?
Me: I didn't even wish him, he asked me passport
VO: Your Passport Please
Me: Passed
VO: Who is your Employer?
Me: Told petitioner name
VO: What is your qualification?
Me: Told my qualification
VO: What is your salary?
Me: Told my salary

Thats it!!

VO: Issuing your Visa, Have a nice day( they were wrapping up interviews in all counters).

Wished him same and left the consulate.

My intake from the interview was to prepare fullest. Talk to the point to face. Carry as many documents as you can. They won't ask, but it would be always better to not end up with any 221g and finish interview on the same day.

Congratulations whoever got their Visa and All the best to whoever going for stamping.
