H1b Visa Experience and Query to the group
Hi All,

8th December 2015 I attended H1B visa interview in Chennai.

VO: Taken my passport and I797 copy and asked your new employer is ZZZ?
Me: Yes

VO: How long you are working in ZZZ?
Me: Its a New employment

VO: How do you know about this company?
Me: Posted my profile in job portals and YYYY got my profile and taken interview.

VO: How much Salary you are getting?
Me: YYYY $ per annum

VO: You have client letter:
Me: I am working on a internal project.

VO: You write programs for YYYY company?
Me: Yes and started explaining project details.

VO not listening and typing something and she pull 221g sheet, written case number and ticked additional administrative process option in it. She handed over US non immigrant rights pamphlet and 221 (g) sheet to me and said, I am holding your original passport with me and I need to verify your new employment details, it takes 2 weeks time. You can get an SMS to pick your passport.

I asked VO what is the problem, she told due to bad weather conditions in Chennai, internet is very slow, you can leave for the day...and wait for 2 weeks time.

What are the chances of getting visa. Is anyone faced similar type of issue earlier?

H1 Approved - Hyderabad Cosulate on 7th Dec
Hello all,

I gave my Visa on 7th Dec @ Hyderabad Consulate. It was Monday and there was huge no of applicants especially students as this is the Spring Intake for Universities. My Appointment was at 10.30am. I stood in line for about an hour to get inside. Once i am in i was asked to sit there until the Visa counters are clearing one by one. They gave us US Rights Pamphlets meanwhile. Later i was asked to wait at the lobby for 15mins. They called us and collected our passports and finger prints and alloted the counter number. Mine is counter number 15.

I went inside crossing all the counters (7-14) looking at all Visa Officers :) I reached counter no 15 and there was a huge line of 8 membrs in front of me all are F1 Students. I was 9th candidate and last. Believe me all the 8 F1(Student Visas) are approved in front of me. The Visa officer was really cool young lady bindass types chewing gum greeting everyone very well and issuing Visas as if it was her birthday and she is distributing choclates :-P

An indian employee already took my Passport and I-797 and gave it to the VO when my front student was giving his interview. Atlast it was my turn. She said Nextttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt pls come .

Me : Good Morning mam, How are you?
VO : Hellloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo (chewing gum)
Me :Smiled :)
VO: Oh you are on H1. I thought you are a student too by your look.(I am little lean built :))
Me : Laughed little loud and said Yes Mam Iam here for H1 Visa.
VO : What your total years of experience sir ?
Me : 5Years Mam
VO : She raised her eyebrows *_* and again said OMG you have got 5 years of experience and you look boyish (she was laughingggg)
ME : with smile I said Yes Mam I have 5 years of experience as XYZ in ABC company.
VO : Great. Who is your employer ?
ME : Said.
VO : Do they have any End Clients
ME : Said
VO : I see that you earlier applied for the Universities for MS. What about that ( I was refused F1 in 2010 )
ME: I said, Yes mam My visa was refused then but later i moved on with a good job opportunity and i was doing very well at my job. At this moment i see bright career prospects for my experience and expertise so i would like to pursue my job over Education.
VO : Okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk (she kept on typing )
VO : Whats your salary ?
ME : Said. (She was typing and i can clearly see that she was typing the numbers i said as she again asked me How much ? i said again.)
VO : Which place you are going Sir?
ME : Said
VO : Whats your highest qualification ?
ME :Said
VO : You married ?
ME : Not yet mam and Smiled :)
VO :Smiled
VO : Sorry, Can you repeat the Client name ?
ME : I spelled each Alphabet (she nodded and felt comfortable )
VO : What do you do for them ?
ME : I explain in detail about my roles and responsibilities
VO : Good.

Here comes the Golden words

VO : Congratulations Sir, I am Approving your Visa. Have a nice stay.
ME : Thanks so much mam. I wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New year in Advance.
VO : Thank you and Wish you gud luck. Bubyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
ME : Thanks mam Bye.

Impact on H1B..first company is Closed
Hi Guys,

I worked in companies A, B, C, D and E from last 8 Years.

My first company A is a small company, got closed during 2009 recession. Also, I read in some websites that this company has been in blacklisted. Rest of the companies I worked (B, C, D, E) are MNC's.

So i have removed this company name from my profile from past 4 years. However once i applied for B1 Visa and this has been rejected 4 Years ago, as the VO was convinced with the purpose of my visit .

For my B1 visa i included my previous employer "A", 4 Years ago.

I have removed my employment details about my employer "A" from my profile from past 4 Years.
For H1b I have removed the employment history related to "A".
and for H1B they asked my last 5 Yrs employment history and this does not cover my employment details with "A" as this is almost 8 Yrs old.

So could you please advice if i get any questions from VO regarding this. Can some one please suggest.

Thanks
Govind

Salary mismatch
Hello guys. The company has offered me salary 'xxx' during their interview. I have filled the DS160 form relating to that salary and booked an appointment. I recently received the LCA from the petitioner and to my surprise it is 10K less than my offer letter. Will there be any trouble during stamping? What answer should I have to say to consulate officer when he/she asks about my salary? Please provide your suggestions asap, my appointment is on Dec 11th.

H-1B approved with incorrect salary. Amendment required?
My H-1B Visa was approved with an incorrect salary which is 5K more than my current salary. Is amendment required?

Also is it safe to travel with this approved(with incorrect salary) document? Will it cause any issue for stamping or at the port of entry?

H1B - passport not received
folks,

I attended the interview in Chennai on 2nd Dec 2015 and was told my visa was approved and i could collect it from my preferred location in 2-4 business days.

I have got nothing yet and the status shows my passport is 'Your passport is still with the US Embassy/Consulate' and in the CEAC site it shows that it is under 'admin processing'

Does this mean its been flagged or is this something to do with the floods/consulate being shut down?

Has anybody got a successful experience to share for the past week?

I urgently need to return to the US on 10th - this is a nightmare really - appreciate your help!

CHENNAI FLOOD, "RAIN RAIN GO AWAY COME AGAIN ANOTHER DAY" AND H1B INTERVIEW

DISCLAIMER: Please read below details if you want MORE of NON-H1B experiences and LESS of H1B interview experience.

30-NOV :
----------
Rain had already started in Chennai but no one knew the disaster was yet to come. Landed at Chennai airport at 21:30 at night with wife and two sons (aged 1 and 8). IT WAS RAINING.

WHERE IS TAXI? There was no taxi at airport. Government pre-paid said no taxis available. Other authorised taxis within airport (before exit) said no taxis for next 1 hour. What a bad luck.

OUTSIDE AIRPORT: Other private taxis started negotiating with me for 4 times the prices. Somehow managed to negotiate with a taxi with double the price and shared taxi with other passenger.

CITY CONDITION: Only after coming to main road I realised how big mess it was with water logging and traffic jam. Somehow reached my place at 23:00 hrs crossing Saidapet bridge (Adyar River flows under it).

01-DEC: (DAY TIME - it was raining all the day)
-------------------------------------------------
FOR BIOMETRIC: Hmmm... the horrible day of rain. Somehow managed to get a taxi. No taxis were available. After request got a vehicle which the Owner of a big taxi company himself drove to help us. He was gentle and helpful person. There was deep water every where in Chennai. Somehow reached the place for biometric, finished it and safely returned.

02-DEC: (DAY OF H1B INTERVIEW)
---------------------------------------------------
Reached the consulate in time. There was a small queue outside Consulate. Fortunately it was not raining. Not even a single drop. As I was with kids I was moved ahead by the securities. (I did not have to request). After all the checking I finally reached the area where there were counters for interview. All candidates were standing in a queue to wait for their turn. I moved to the end of the queue. A candidate told us to move the front of the queue as we were with small children. We moved to the front of the queue and immediately were called for interview at a counter.

GOOD MORNING EXCHANGED BY BOTH OF US.

VO (a lady): (TO MY SON) How did you come here, by swimming?
SON: No
VO: By boat?
SON: No
VO: by car?
SON: Yes
VO: Who is he?
SON: My father
VO: Who is she
SON: My mother.
VO: Who is that little baby?
SON: My younger brother.

Question to me.
VO: Who is your end client?
ME: Answered
VO: What is your highest qualification?
ME: Answered
VO: How much is your salary per annum?
ME: Answered
VO: Do you have i797?
ME: Gave
VO: How long have you been working with your employer?
ME: New employment
She took some time to read details in computer and after sometime
VO: Now let us start the H1B interview. Here is the most difficult question. When is your anniversary?
ME: Answered
VO: Looked at my wife and asked is it correct?
My Wife: Yes
She again took some time to read details in computer and after sometime...
VO: I am approving your visa and returned i797 and a booklet.
"Thank You" and "BYE" were exchanged.

Yes, All of us were smiling during the interview and VO's relaxed mood gave me the confidence.

I checked for courier service to home for passport delivery and the service was not there.

Overall consulate IN-2-OUT was done in less than 30 minutes.

CHENNAI FLOOD: Got the news of severe flooding in Chennai. Adyar river was flowing over the Saidapet bridge. My flight got cancelled/re-scheduled 3 times. For safety of my family I stayed back in Chennai for 4 more days.

MY CASE: I have 14 years of IT experience. Not in Job for 14 months. Currently have a valid US B1/B2 visa. Have visited these countries (USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Singapore, Indonesia, Uruguay) multiple times in last 5 years in business visa. No past history of visa denial to any countries. Earlier visited USA in 2000 and 2001 in business. All these details were filled in DS160.
