H1b experinece at Delhi US Consulate 20th and 21st October
The success stories posted in this thread have really inspired me a lot and I am obliged to post my experience today.

Day 1--> 20th October --> AFC, Nehru Place, New Delhi

Our appointment was at 09:30 AM in the morning. We reached the AFC at 08:30 AM. The security asked us to join the queue 15 minutes before the appointment

schedule. So we had to wait for sometime. At 09:15 we joined the queue in which the Ds-160 confirmation and appointment letter were getting verified. The

official who was checking our forms drew a circle on my wife's name on the DS-160 confirmation. They told us that that only the Last name and first name

should be mentioned in the DS-160 and no alias names should be there. The reason we mentioned alias was because her passport had her name in that way. All

her previous visas to other countries also had the same name (along with alias), therefore I was confused and cross checked with another official. They

confirmed again that the name should be corrected in DS-160 for which we have to complete the Ds-160 nonce again. We rushed outside from the AFC looking

for a cyber cafe and luckily we found one in Nehru Place. In fact it wasn't a cyber cafe but some small office where a board was hanging which mentioned

that they help in filling Ds-160. Retrieved the old Ds-160 form and filled all the information in the new form. Within half an hour it was done and we were

back to the AFC.

After checking all the details we were allowed to go in. Inside the OFC one of the official was sticking the DS-160 bar codes on the passports. I gave him

all the three passports. He stick one sticker each to my mine and my son's passport and two(old and new ds160 bar codes) on my wife's passport.

Then two tokens were issued to me and my wife and we waited for our turn for the bio-metrics. As soon our tokens got displayed we went to the respective

counters and got our fingerprints and photographs done. Since my son is 4 years old, therefore no bio-metrics for him. After that we left the place.

DAY 2--> 21st October. --> US Consulate, New Delhi
The appointment was at 09:30 AM. We left for the embassy a bit early, parked my car in Bangla Sahib Gurudwara parking and had our prayers there. After that

we took an auto-rickshaw for for the embassy. the rickshaw driver charged 50 Rs. At around 08:45 we reached the US consulate.

Reaching there I found that people were queuing up for the 9:00 AM interview slot and we were asked to wait for the time being. The surrounding area if the

embassy was full of north Indian aspirants and I could see many Punjabis out there. I felt that I am back in Punjab. Most of the people there were going for

the B2 tourist Visas.

at 09:15 we were asked to queue up. We were not allowed to take any electronic media or any other thing except our documents inside the embassy. I was a bit

concerned as I had my car keys with me. I stepped forward and asked the guard if it is fine to keep the car keys with me. He said its fine so no problems

with that. There was a locked counter as well outside the embassy. You could get a locker for yourself at some nominal fee. Staff sitting outside were

checking the passports and Ds-160 confirmation. They checked mine and asked me to produce a copy of my I797B which was thne stapled along with my passport.

They were also giving the white rights pamphlets to the H1b aspirants and an another pamphlet to non H1b guys.

As we entered the embassy security checks were done and then we were made to sit in the outside area. After waiting for an another 20 minutes we were asked

to proceed to the interview area where again bio-metrics were done. Then we were asked to join the interview queue. It was a single queue having

approximately 50 people standing in-front of us. Since my kid was not comfortable standing, my wife and son were asked to sit down in the waiting are while I

was moving along with the queue.

It took approximately 30 minutes for our turn to come. In between I was looking around all the interviews going on. There were rejections all over. People

were leaving the counters with tears and disappointment on their faces. Probably those were tourist and B1 aspirants. I was getting a bit nervous due to

all of this. Any how I controlled my nerves and went to the counter that I was asked to.

Three of us reached the counter and the Visa officer greeted us nicely.

VO--> Good Morning. How are you doing today?
Me--> Good Morning mam. I am doing good. How about you?

VO --> I am good as well. May I have your passports please.
Have passed all the three passports to her.

VO --> So have you been to the US before?
ANS--> NO mam.

VO --> Ok. Is this your first H1b
ANS --> Yes

VO --> Who is employer.
ANS --> XYZ

VO --> Who is the end client
Ans --> ABC - Inc.

VO --> How much total IT experience do you have
ANS --> X years and Y months

VO --> What will be your annual salary in the US
ANS --> XYZ dollars ( I told the exact amount)

VO --> What is your highest degree ?
ANS --> XYZ in ABC field

The Visa office then turned towards my wife and asked her

VO --> What do you do mam?
ANS --> I am a housewife.

and then she looked at her computer and waited for sometime and said thats all I had to ask and said congratulations. I was overwhelmed and thanked her and

left the window. I got so much excited thta later I realized that though the visa office congratulated me, she never spoke that my visa has been approved

/any admin processing. Later I found the VISA status as ISSUED on the CEAC website.

PIMS issue - Dubai US consulate
Hi Friends,
I had my visa stamping interview for non-immigrant visa H1B at Dubai US consulate on 19 Oct 2015.
During the interview, I handed my I797A to VO. A few minutes later the VO told me that she was unable to find the petition in the system and says because of that my application could only be reviewed. I believe my petition was missing on the PIMS system.
After this conversation, she handed me a yellow slip saying that administrative processing would be needed on my application and assign case number.
Please advise me if some have.

Need advise on the H1B stamping interview
Hi,

I need an advice for my H1B stamping interview. In my case, I have been offered a new job by a US employer and they have sponsored my H1B. I have got I-797 and the start date is given as 5-Oct-2015. I am planning to give the interview somewhere in first or second week of November.

So won't the VO put a question across to me that why you had turned up for the interview so late as the start date proposed by my employer in the petition was 1-Oct-2015.

Also I need help on the tips and documents to be carried along. I will be appearing at New Delhi consulate.

H1B successfull stamping - Mumbai consulate
Hi All,

First I would like to say thanks to the immihelp.com and all fellow contributor

The H1b interview questions really help me a lot to prepare!

Here is my detail:

Location: Mumbai

OFC

===========

Scheduled on 16 Oct, 2015 at 12:15pm. I reached there at 10:30am and they allowed me to enter in the center. It took hardly 10 min for all the process. The OFC guys asked my Full name and DOB and then they took my photograph and finger prints.

I went there by my car and parked outside the OFC office. It was a roadside park of your own risk. Although parking was full I got luckily I got one. Wait for some time you will get one.

Interview

============

Scheduled on 19 Oct, 2015 at 10 am. I reached there at 8:30am. I parked my car in MMRDA paid parking (very reasonable rate) at hotel trident nearby. I joined in the line at 8:45am. They again allowed me to get in. In the security checking they got my remote car key and told me it is not allowed to carry in. They allowed my wife to wait inside. I came out of the consulate to give someone my car key. I was really frustrated! I tried the outside guards to keep it for me but no one agreed to keep it. Then I went to the car parking area thinking they should not any issue to keep the key. But my bad luck they even denying to keep my car key. I am really frustrated now! But luckily they agreed after so many requests.

My suggestion is carry non-electronic car key or you can pay around INR 250 at the OFC center where they can keep your belongings. But distance from Interview center to OFC is 10 min in auto.

Well, Then I enter in the Interview center without going in the queue again. The guards allowed me, as they already know me because of the car lock issue LOL. I enter in the center again at 9:45am

Inside my wife and me waited for 3o min and entered in the Building. Outside was hot.

There we waited in the queue again for figure print check. Finaly we now came in the queue for the interview. There was no token system in Mumbai. The system is same like flight check-in in the airports.

We have been asked to stand in #27 window. Now its our turn.

VO: (No greetings even not waited for my greeting. We both started together) who is your employer?
ME: Good morning mamm! How are you doing today? (VO no answer of my greeting. Really odd!)
ME: XYZ systems INC. (I gave her my passport meanwhile)

VO: Till how long you are working for this company?
ME: 1 year 4 days.

VO: Can I see your I797B?
ME: Sure! Given her!

VO: How you know about this job?
ME: Answered

VO: How many employees are there in your company?
ME: Answered

VO: What will be your salary in US?
ME: Answered

VO: How long you are married?
ME: Answered

VO: Do you have kids?
ME: Answered

VO: (To my wife) Are you working?
Wife: “I don’t know English!”
ME: Mamm, if you allow me I can translate to her!
VO: It’s fine!

VO: (Checking in the system) Did you visit USA before?
ME: Yes on B1 visa for 2.5 month from ABC technologies. I went there for knowledge transfer.

VO: (Checking my Wife’s passport) Your wife was in UK?
ME: Yes mamm. I went to UK on Tier-2 Intra company skill transfer visa and my wife accompanied me at that time.

VO: Your Visa will be ready in 1-2 days!
ME: We said thanks mamm!

VO: You have the pamphlet of your rights?
ME: Ofcourse! (She smiled atlast!!!)

We came out at 10:30am!

I got email from ustraveldocs.com that my passport is ready to pick up at 5:44pm!

My suggestion: Dress formal. Be confident! Never think USA is your only one destiny. If you came this long that means you have capability to do good in your own country as well! Give them answer freely and keep eye to eye contact.

Cheers! And all the best!!!

Before me one person working for MNC company, Vo asked just two questions only

1.Which company currently you are working: answer is that he is also working for same MNC company that I am working

2.Who is your end client

Done Visa Approved....

Coming to my turn,

VO: Gud morning sir
ME: Gud Morning with bit tensed...

Same questions repeated

VO:Which company currently you are working
ME: MNC

VO: Who is end client
ME: got stucked and mentioned I got a new oopertunity from XYZ

VO: Why are switching from MNC to small XYZ
ME: Explained, he satisfied slitely

VO: Project name and description and kind of business of XYZ into
ME: Explained

VO: He asked my I-797,I-129B and Project doc
ME: provided, I got a good proj doc from my employer

VO: He asked me to wait for some time and he gave one slip to wait for
ME: almost I have waited for 1 hour, and later he called me.....

Vo: Again asked who is your employer...just reading employer name..
ME: Mentioned

VO:Some thing he checked in the system again and finally mentioned your Visa is Approved........

My suggestion is Be confident...dont be tensed....fell free...and just listen the question, after completion only you can start.
They will ask simple questions only, we can make it very simpler........That's it.

As long as our emplyer is gud we will surely get the Visa......
