H1B Stamping in Sydney, Australia
Friends,

I am an Indian, resident of Australia, working here from last 1.5 years. This is my recent H1B stamping experience in Sydney. It was fairly simple and easy. I was renewing my unused H1B visa which was stamped earlier in Chennai, India. My US employer is small and good company. He provided all the documents required.

Our appointment was at 9:30. We reached to consulate by 8:30. Waited in the lobby area till 9:00. (Later realised that, no need to wait, we can proceed to reception area where security check happens). At 9:00 we went to consulate's reception area (10th floor) where security check happens. There was a queue for security check. We were there in queue for about 20 min to get our turn. Friendly officers checked us thoroughly. They kept our phones, bags there with them gave us a token to collect our items back after the interview.

After security check, our documents (Passports, DS-160, I797) were verified and wrapped DS-160 and I797 with passports and gave them back to us. Then we were redirected to 59th floor for visa interview. We went to 59th floor, there the security checked our passports just for confirmation.

We went inside the consulate, proceeded to left side and stood in the queue as directed. We were called immediately. The lady officer returned our DS-160 forms and labelled our passports with some stickers. She asked two questions. What type of visa you are applying for? Were you given US visa earlier? Then she took our 10 finger prints. This was quick, just 2 minutes.

We were asked to proceed to next queue without taking any queue number and asked us to stand in the queue. (Most people were sitting there) In the queue, before us there was one guy for H1B. Two counters were there. One lady VO and one man VO. Man VO was so serious and issued a yellow slip to a group of 3 girls, guess they were there for F1 visa, not sure. Lady VO was so pleasant and talking to some US citizens. Once they are done, she called the guy before us for H1B. Here I was a bit nervous, thinking that man VO would call me. But he called a queue number and I felt better. Within 5 minutes lady VO finished the H1B interview and issued the visa. Next she called us. She was so friendly and positive. She didn't ask me a single document.

ME: Good Morning (Passed the passports)
VO: Good Morning

VO: She commented on our family with a smile.
ME: Yes (with a smile)

VO: Were you given US visa earlier?
ME: Yes

VO: Is this the same employer?
ME: No, this one is with different employer.

VO: How do you know about this company?
ME: One of my friends work there.

VO: Oh... then you better know about the company. (after few seconds) What do your employer do?
ME: I answered

VO: What do you do?
ME: I answered

VO: What is your highest qualification?
ME: I answered

VO: In Computers?
ME: No, Mathematics.

VO: How long you were there in US?
ME: I didn't use my earlier visa.

VO: She was a bit surprised and asked why?
ME: I answered and she was happy with that.

VO: How long have you been working here (Sydney)?
ME: I answered

VO: How long have you been in this field.
ME: I answered

VO: (To my son) Are you excited to go to US?
My Son: Nodded his head and said Yes.

VO: Your visa is approved. You will get your passports in 5 working days.
ME: Thank you.

Here are my comments to get visa.
* Be confident, answer with clear voice.
* Listen carefully and answer with 'No less, no more'.
* Every question they ask is from your petition, so go through it thoroughly.
* If you make a mistake, no need to worry correct it immediately.

Know the specifics
* Know where you are going
* Know how long you are going to stay
* Know what you are going to do
* Know what software you are going to use
* Know why you were chosen for this position
* Know who you report to
* Know about the project

Hope this helps, Good Luck.

H1b Visa Interview 2 times without 221 g slip || weird Experience || finally got my Stamped VISA
First Interview: 10th Sep 2015
The VO asked so many questions related to my Petitioner.
Below are a few questions
1) Tell me something about your Petitioner?
2) How did you get this job offer?
3) How many years of experience do you have?
4) Tell me something about your whole previous employers?
5) Nature of your Project in US (Client Project/In-house)
6) Asked something about my project?
7) My hiring process (asked 2 times)?
It seems, he was doubtful about my petitioner. He asked for all the documents which I was carrying (Supported docs for my petitioner and all my experience letters etc.).
He didn’t ask any single question from my wife.
Finally, he told me – you can collect all your documents with Passport from OFC center. We will inform you via email/phone.
He was not sure about the timeline. (was feeling Frustrated ?)
My application status was “Admin processing”
Second Interview: 15th Sep 2015
I got a call from Embassy. The lady told me to come here again for another interview.i was little bit confused and asked, Should I come along with my wife? She said NO
I took an appointment for the same day at 2PM.
I was there at 2PM. There were two persons who were taken my interview again.
The duration of my Interview was 20-25 Minutes.
They asked a lot of questions which are related to
1) My Profile
2) Current Employer
3) My Petitioner
4) Project Type and duration
5) US Location and Salary
6) Apart from all these, The VO asked a lot of questions which are related to my technology. (This is weird in case of H1B,Isn’t it ?)
7) How did I get this job (Two Times)
8) How much I paid for filing petition and extra expenses (trying to make me confuse)
9) Why is your name not mentioning in your wife’s passport as the passport was issued after your marriage?
10) Asked for another marriage Proof apart from my Marriage Certificate.

Finally, the American said, first we will verify about your dependent from your current employer and if everything is ok we will advise Visa Officer to approve your case …

I said Thanks and exit
Again I didn’t get the exact status for my application.

From 15th sep – 21st Sep : No status update (“Admin Process”)
22nd Sep : Status updated to “Issued”
23rd Sep : Collected our Stamped passports with all original documents.
Now relaxed and feeling very happy ?

All the best for all of you who are going to attend Visa Interview in Future.

Issued 221(g) for H1B
I attended the interview today at Mumbai consulate.

Question was pretty easy by VO handed over form white 221(g) with option selected--

A letter (on letterhead) from the personnel department at the U.S. end client company (the job site where you will actually work)stating that there is a vacancy for you.

Can anyone help me here- Will this letter be issued from my Client or my US Headoffice? Any one has gone through this and what was the status?

Question were--

VO: Please give me your passport and petition.
Me: Handed over Passport and I-797
VO: Where you will be working?
Me: ABC
VO: You are working for DEF?
Me: DEF was my previous employer. I am working for YYYY limited.
VO: What will be your designation?
Me: GGG.
VO: Tell me about ABC?
Me: Explained briefly.
VO: What will you will be doing for that company?
Me: Briefly explained.
VO: Do you have a document which shows that you will be working for this company?
Me: Given the supporting document (I-129).
VO: What will be your US salary?
Me: YYYY $
VO: Paused for few minutes and then discussed something with other Visa officer (a lady sitting on next counter). Took a white form from his back side and then tick on top 4 points.

With form 221(g) he returned my all the documents along with Passport. He said "You need not to attend the interview again".

Please reply.

H1B Visa Stamping
First of all thanks for such nice portal which help guys like me to prepare for VISA process.
I would like to share my experience. AS our company is small firm everything from feeling the form D160 all done by myself which update my knowledge about process in more detail.
So prepared list of documents and questions with the help of this portal.

Background:
AS H1B was my dream since collage days my company filled my H1B petition in 2013 itself and it got selected. After waiting for more than 2 years as I was having some personal now decided to move now. So I worried what if VO asked me about this 2 years gap after lottery selection?
So decided to go for visa stamping so took date of 23rd September as wanted to have 14 days in buffer to prepared myself. Please go through the I797 petition & form D160 twice.

Biometric interview was on 6th September (Sunday): Mumbai office
AS it was Sunday so thought there may be rushed but surprisingly I got easily parking over there although it’s not official parking.
My appointment was at 3:30 PM & I reach too early around 2:00 PM. I thought let us have Tea / Snacks.
Luckily security guy came and asked us whoever having 3:30 PM time they can stand in queue right now. So I was be in queue and at first counter I was been asked for correction form D160 for my name.
Guys please make sure about your name, DOB & passport no. At backside small café was there where I corrected it and have to pay 300 Rs.
Then I came back with correction and I was send it inside at first counter my passport got bar code at back side and then another counter took finger print and photo.
And I was out within 20 min. On same day I checked the US embassy office which is near to it. I confirmed that Pay & Park is available.

Although I took bunch of folder but during the bio metric they only asked for 3 documents.
1) Passport
2) DS160 form
3) Appointment Letter
Now the big day came 23rd September.
My appointment was at 10:00 AM but I reached around 8:30. The moment I parked car one of the guy told me you can’t carry car key as its electronic one. Immediately one of the auto driver came to me asked me whether I need locker. He asked me to seat in auto, I thought it may be bit far away. Guys you won’t believe it was hardly 50 ft away. One guy was seating in old Omni, he took 200 Rs to hold my key and gave me token for it and Auto guy took 30 Rs for this so called “long distance”.
So while going there make sure you won’t have electronic gadgets or bag to avoid all this frustration.
At 9:30 AM they asked us to stand in queue and went inside around 10:00 AM. After security checking I got the H1B rights booklet.
Then slowly we moved ahead where again our bio metric was taken.
There were no of counters and I was closely observing who is rejecting more as it was clearly audible to us.
I saw one guy was rejecting more as he rejected 4 applicants in front of me. So I was praying the god that my number should not came for his counter. Guy who was beside me also noticing same and discussed with me.
Luckily I was told to go to next counter who was foreigner and jolly person, and suddenly guy who was besides me stand in front him where I was suppose to go. Shit I have to go to in front of the Indian VO.
I waited for 10 min as he was taking one families interview, while listening I realize VO was asking lot of questions to applicant.
In those 10 min I don’t know why but to change my nervousness “I convinced myself that if I get rejection world is not going to end. We do have better opportunity over here as well and it makes me bit confident. Be confident have eye to eye contact with VO.
VO rejected that family applicant visa who was also for H1B (I guess) & called me for Interview.

Greeting done…
VO: May I have your passport?
Me: Passed it
VO: What is your company into?
Me: I explained about my company
VO: Who is your client?
Me: Its in-house project
VO: Tell me about project?
Me: Explained (Please prepare well for this).
Then he took pause for 5 min and checking something in that small screen and he went inside. Now I was worried and tense.
He came back and started again
VO: What is your highest qualification?
Me: Answered
VO: What is your salary?
Me:**$ per annul
VO: Are you married?
Me: Yes
VO: Is your wife coming with you?
Me: No
VO: Why?
Me: Explained and her job role as she is having reputed role in govt.
VO: Your VISA is “APPROVED”
Me: I was just shock and said thank you thrice to him and gave salute.

God It was my day…. Actually I was worried as my project duration was not properly mentioned and my B.E university certificate was missing in my document. But instead of that I was having bunch of folder which was huge and I intentionally kept in front of him to impressed I came in full preparation.

Documents which I carried:
1) Passport (old & new one)
2) Original I 797
3) DS 160 confirmation page
4) Appointment Letter
5) Company Offer Letter
6) I 129 Doc
7) LCA
8) Company photograph
9) Company web site pages
10) Education verification letter
11) Previous employer offer & relieving letter
12) 12 months salary slip
13) 12 months bank statement with highlighting my salary & other perks
14) 3 years IT return form
15) Latest Resume same as job role which is mentioned in my offer letter
16) All education certificate original
17) Marriage certificate
18) 2 VISA specific photo
19) Company ID
20) My current company reporting manager & 2 colleague contact detail including mail id. Also US location my reporting manager contact details. Also my previous employer reporting manager and 2 colleagues’ contact details including mail id.

On the same day itself I got the message to collect my PP as its ready and today I morning I collected it with stamping.
Please list no of questions with your answer and have practice at least twice before going for interview.
So guys, be confident and have eye to eye contact and remember world is not going to end here…. ? ? ? !!!!
