Port of entry
I have a petition filed from one of the US company and my stamping is done in the month of Aug month 2015 . My employer asking me to fly before Oct mid. My concern is below :

I'd like to spend some time with my family and frds in India and would like to fly in the month of Nov or Dec , not in hurry. My employer said it may be a problem during port of entry as our client letter stated that our new project wil start in Oct mid. During port of entry if they ask me can I say ,I was under transition period and I took it from India ? If this is not okay , do I need to get Ammendment filed to USCIS and get it approval by stating new project ? Which will be the best option and pls recommend something better as per my need.

Thank you so much for reading this post and many thanks if you respond to it.

H1B-H4-VISA-INTERVIEW-HYDERABAD-SEPTEMBER-2015
Hi All,

First off, I appreciate IMMIHELP.com for maintaining this online forum. This very useful for us.

On 2nd SEP 2015, We went to VISA Interview in Hyderabad consulate. Two days prior, we have completed our Bio metrics at OFC center.

On the Big day, I went to consulate 1 hour before with all my family members(2 kids and my wife). Even though my kids are 5 and 2.5years old and their presence is not required for the VISA Interview, I took them because, my younger one does not stay away from his mother for longer time. Anyway coming back to my experience...

Our appointment is at 11 AM and they allowed us inside just 10 mins before. Because, I am with my family, the executive & Security person allowed us to get inside the campus.

We were asked to take our seats(there are 6 rows ) and wait for about 25mins to proceed further for regular security checks.

After that, we were asked to wait for some more time. Mean while another executive(Indian) enquired about our VISA type then I said its H1B. Then he gave me US-RIGHT's pamphlet.

Next we wait for another 25-30 mins and then they asked to stand in another line to verify our biometrics. Stood in the line for 15 mins. Bio metrics are verified by an officer inside the counter(For Kids it's not applicable).

Next, we have entered to the Interview line... Here, they are issuing token numbers for applicant( For family also only one Token number is issued. Token number represents the counter number for VISA Interview).

Finally, we entered in the line corresponding to my token number. There are about 6 members before our turn. When our turn arrived it is 12.40-12.45PM ... (Just before we step in, some executive took our passports and hand over them to our VO).

ME: Good Afternoon
VO: Good Afternoon.

VO: Who is your Pititoner ?
ME: XYZ Company located at AA City, BB State.

VO: Who is your client.
ME: In my case there is no client so, I explained the same.

VO: Since how long you are working for this company.
ME: At first I did not get the question, so requested her to repeat it once again.
Later, I answered it according to my case.

VO: She asked did you gone through the US-Rights pamphlet?
ME: I said, I have received this but not gone through it.

VO: Okay, your VISA is APPROVED.
ME: I asked her again and she said ... Your VISA IS APPROVED.
ME & MY WIFE thanked her and returned.

They did not asked for any single document nor any questions to my wife. VO is very cool and young officer.

I noticed, some times they are taking very quick short breaks(2 mins).

Waiting for our passports.

Hope this will help others.

9th year H1B stamping
Hi All
Need your help and valuable suggestions. I am working in a reputed US company (around 30,000 employee) as a FTE for last 5 years. I have approved Perm and I-140 from the same employer. My latest petition valid till Feb 2016. My company is now preparing all the documents to file my extension. We are planing to go to India on Nov 2015. That time we'll go for visa stamping. Is there any issues of our stamping because if we'll go for stamping on Nov then only 3 months left of our latest petition. Please give your valuable suggestions.

H1B Visa , VO said approved, status still shows Administrative Processing
Hi All,

Visa Type - H1B
Wife's Visa Type - H4
1st time H1B applicant
Inhouse Position
Information Security Profile
Moving from Indian entity to American entity of same company

I was interviewed on 17th August, 2015 and my OFC was done on 14th August, 2015 in New Delhi.

On 14th August - For the Bio-metrics, It was hardly anything - Me and My wife went in and were out in 15minutes. You just need to carry your appointment letter and all passports (current and last one - if any)

On 17th August - Our's was at 8AM so we stood in line by 7.45 AM and were inside by 8.10 AM. On a counter, they again verified our fingerprints and then we stood in line for the interview. My interviewer was American and was pleasant.
Interview questions -
Where do you work ?
I had to explain that I am moving from Indian entity to US Entity
She asked , are you switching companies - I said technically yes
She again asked are you moving to parent company - I said I am moving from Indian company with their own cost and profit center to US company with their own cost and profit center

Not sure if she was convinced with that but she looked at my passport and I-797 and asked my job duties in India and then in US. She was fine with that.

Then she asked us - how long have you been married
Then she asked my Wife, what is your highest qualification

Once my wife answered, she did something on her computer for almost 40-50 seconds and then all of sudden said - Your visa is approved, you will get the message in few days.

We thanked her and came out of the Embassy

Tip for those who are commuting by their own vehicle to US Embassy - There is a paid parking in Malcha Marg (google map it) and the autos are waiting outside all the time to take you to the embassy.

On 17th Aug itself, My wife got email that her passport is ready to be picked up.
My passport is still with embassy and the status still shows Administrative processing (its been 14 days now)

Can you guys please help me why it is still stuck at AP for me? Any personal experiences ?

And last but not least, I would like to Thank all of the you who have posted stuff in here, as it really helped me settle my nerves before the interview

H1B visa stamping interview experience
Hello Friends,

First of all, I would like to thank all for posting their experiences in this forum. This forum has been really very helpful in preparing for H1 stamping interview. My visa stamping was approved this week, so thought of sharing my experience.

I had to go to US Consulate in Mumbai, as that is what I had selected while applying for H1.
The finger printing appointment was on 24th August. There were hardly any candidates and the process was really very fast. They just got my fingerprints and captured a photograph. I spent hardly 10 minutes there.

The interview was on the next day at 2:30pm. I reached there at 1pm. There were hundreds of people waiting outside the consulate. At around 1:20pm, they called people who had appointment at 1:30pm. After about 30 minutes, they called people who had appointment at 2 and 2:30pm. It was a long queue. Once we entered the consulate, there was a very tight security check including X-ray scanners. Although, the queue was huge, it was constantly moving. It took me around 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the interview counter. The interview hall is huge and you can see and hear the American officers talking to candidates as you keep walking in the queue. My conversation with the American Officer lasted for about 2 or 3 minutes. It was as follows:

Question : Why do you have a cancelled visa?
Answer : I was supposed to work on a project in New York when I was in my previous organization. That's why I got the visa stamped. But unfortunately, the project was cancelled by the client. Hence, my employer got the visa cancelled.

Question : What do you do in your current organization?
Answer : I am a programmer. I develop software applications using Java/J2EE technologies. I lead a team.

Question : Will you be working on inhouse project?
Answer : No, I will be working at the client site.

Question : Which client?
Answer : told the client organization name.

That's it. The officer said 'Your visa is approved. Will be ready in 3 days'.

Hope this helps.

Wish all of you all the very best.

Thanks !!!
