Is it okay to apply H1b transfer while my extension petition is in progress?
Hi All,

I am working for a service based company in USA for a well-known client.

I applied to extension from my current employer and it is in progress. My i94 is already expired in August and my 240 days will be completed in the first week of April.

Now my client asked me to join to their company without knowing my extension process.

Could you let me know what are the problems we face when we apply my transfer while my extension with current employer is in progress?

H1 B nomination
Hi,

I have been nominated for FY 2020 H1B nomination where I need to add dependents in the details forms.

The forum asked birth certificate of my child to demonstrate the family relationship. But I gave birth to a baby girl Jan 14 2020 only. So it will take time to provide birth certification.

What should I do now ?

Thanks in advance

Background : I had received 221g during my first H1b stamping at US consulate in New Delhi which took almost 4 months to clear. After returning to USA, I was afraid to come back so I didn't come back India for 8 years and finally I decided to visit India to meet parents and family and went for stamping without worrying too much about getting 221g and I was successful with that and got h1b stamping without any issue.

All the best to all who is going for h1b stamping. If anyone wants to know more in details then please send an email at [email protected]

Thanks,
Kal

P.S. At mumbai consulate, there is a police van locker available to store mobile, bag and etc.. for Rs. 30/-

H1b visa interview experience
Hi,

First time H1b.

I had my biometric on 12th Feb and visa interview on 13th February. Both in Hyderabad consulate.

Biometric experience.

We are total 5 applicants. H1b , spouse and 3 kids. We did not took the kids. I suggest if you can leave your kids behind. That is a good option. 4pm was our appointment we went inside by 3.45pm. They will take your photo and fingerprints. For kids they will take photo from the photo we carry. The whole thing finished within 10mins.

Interview experience.

Our appointment was at 10.30am. There was a long queue and the security will send people inside as per the time slot. This time also we did not took our kids inside. Once we go inside there we can sit and they will give trays to put our items such as documentation and belts and wallets into it. After security check we can go inside and again there will be a queue. We were given window number 13. By the time we joined the 13 window queue, there were people already standing in front of us. A group of people maybe for visit visa. Then the next guy was for B1 then there was a lady who is a dependant of H1.

All of them, the VO kept the passports. Then our turn came. Greeted the VO who was a nice lady
The conversation went like this.

1. Give me i797 and offer letter or client letter
Ans. Given
2. She said, let me get it straight that you are H1, pointing towards my wife she is spouse and you have 3 kids.. Right?
Ans. Yes
3. Give me age of all your kids?
Ans. Replied.
4. Are you going to work for the same client in USA?
Ans. I said yes
5. Salary?
Ans. Replied
6. Location?
Ans. Replied
7. Highest degree?
Ans. Replied
8. To my wife, how long you have been married mam?
Ans. She replied
9. Have you applied for B1/B2 in the past?
Ans. No
10. She gave us 2 brochures, which says know your rights. And said we need to read this before we land in USA. And said congratulations, your visa is issued. We thanked and left by saying Have a nice day ahead!!!

Thanks

Chennai consulate stamping experience
My spouse and I had our biometric and interview on the 9th and 10th respectively. For the interview only standard questions were asked to me.
Who is your employer?
How long with employer?
How long with the client?
How long with the client US?
Salary?

and finally said my Visa is approved. On 10th the case was in admin processing and on 11th status changed to Issued and recieved email to pickup passport. Collected stamped passport on 12th.

The surprising part was that during the interview even the approved i797 or client letter was not asked.

For me it's my 12th year with employer and been with the client for 11 years. This was my 3rd stamping and on h1for 7 years.

Good luck to all!

New H1 stamping - Admin Processing, Chennai
About Me:

Graduated in May 2018.
OPT Start Date - July 2nd, 2018
OPT End Date - July 1st, 2018
H1 Approved Date - May 5th, 2019
Cap Gap Period - July 2nd to Sep 30th, 2019
H1 Start Date- October 1st, 2019

Towards the end of my OPT, my company had applied for my H1 and it had been approved in May. Around same time I had alos applied for a STEM extension which got approved someitme after July 2019. So I was on cap gap between July to October 2019.

I work full time for an employer in Dallas.

Bio Metrics on Feb 11th Chennai.

Consulate interview on Feb 12th Chennai. I received a 221g slip for admin processing because the officer wanted to verify my SEVIS history while I was on F1 status.

Questions asked:

1. Salary
2. Location
3. Did you go out of SEVIS status while I was a student on F1 ?
4. When did you graduate and when did you start your OPT and when did it end ?

After these questions, he said that he is placing it for admin processing. It might take 2 weeks. but mostly it should be done within 2 weeks. He said that he doesnt need any documents from me. This will be verified in the U.S and he cant verify it here.

I understand this is normal but the way he asked me questions about F1 status took me by surprise during the interview and left me puzzled to some extent.

Any othes here with similar experience ?
