H1B Administrative Processing - Dec 3rd - Delhi Consulate - Still Waiting
I had my interview on Dec 3rd 2012, and the VO said that they will need additional time for processing. My application shows up as Administrative Processing under the Case Status. I am in EVVC model. Its been over 5 weeks now. I had to join back my project in Jan 1st week and I am still stuck here.

This was my 2nd stamping with the same employer at the same consulate, the 1st time in Oct' 2009 it had gone all smooth and I was approved, I am not sure what was different this time around.

Anyone in the same boat and around the same time, who had their Visa's approved after 221g.

H1B+H4 renewal experience
Hi,

I am a regular visitor for this website and the resources here have been helpful for me and my family. I am posting my experience for H1B and H4 renewal.

My Case: I did my graduate studies in US and then obtained a job at a reputable company based in the US. I got my H1B stamping in 2008 and renewing it in Jan 2013. My visa expired for more than 12 months, and hence could not use drop box.

My wife and I went to the consulate on 1/7/13. After the document verification and finger print verification was over we were sent to the window for Interview, here is how it went:

Me: Hi, how are you doing ?

VO: I am doing good, how are you?

Me: I am doing great! Thank you.

VO: You are applying for H1B renewal, where do you work?

Me: Answered .

VO: What do you do at ZZZ?
Me: Answered in few sentences.

VO: Checked computer for a minute and asked how long have you been working for ZZZ?
Me: Answered.

VO: What is your highest qualification?
Me: Answered.

VO: What is your salary?
Me: Answered.

Then VO turned to my wife and asked : Where do you live in US?
W:Answered.

VO: Hmm, how is the weather there?
W: Answered.

VO: When will you be traveling to US.
W: Answered.

VO: I am approving your visa. You will get yous passports in 3 days.
Me, W: Thank you very much!

That's about it. It was pretty simple. Like many said in their experiences - smiling while greeting the VO and confidently answering the questions is the key for the interview. Hopefully, this would be useful.

Thanks!
RK

My sincere and heartful thanks to my friend pamula reddy and immihelp forum, because through him only i came to know about this forum.

This forum and all other professional's experiences make me more confident.

VO called token number from counter( of course it will display on screen, but i didn't try to reach him until his word)

me - Good Morning sir and best wishes on behalf of new year
VO - Very good morning sir, Thank you and wishing you a happy new year
(he is keenly looking at my body language and facial expressions , i noticed it even for my before candidate as well)

VO - Whats your designation ?

VO - why you are traveling to US?

VO - what's your highest qualification?

VO - How long you are with this company ?

VO - I am approving your visa have a nice stay ( mean time given white pamplet, and said please read it before travel)

He didn't ask any documents from me.

Thanks
Dev

Be confident & prepared
Thanks forum and all membersfor all the help and sample questions.
On 7th Jan : Mumbai OFC reached 15 minute before biometrics. Formailities over in 20 minutes.
On 8th Jan : mumbai consulate :
VO:Who is your client
What they do
What will be your salary
Are you married.

Very professional atmosphere. If your documents are clear, I don't see any reason your application will not be approved.
They didn't ask any document apart from passport and I797B.

VO: Good Morning - Can I get your documents
me: Good Morning - and handed of the documents

VO: Are you converted from L to H
me: Yes

VO: is it the same compnay or a different one

VO: What was your qualification?
me: Bachelors of Technology

VO: What is your salary?
me: YYYY X per year

VO: Ok, your visa is approved and have a good day....

H1B stamping experience-Chennai consulate
I had my H1B first-time stamping interview today at the Chennai Consulate.
Interview time : 9 AM.
I was let inside at around 8:45 PM. It is wise not to arrive more than 30 min in advance because they don't let us in early anyway.
A token number was given as soon as I was done with the security check.
Based on this token number, I was told to go to a counter to have my documents bundled up appropriately(mainly the passport + appt letter+ ds-160 confirmation in one bundle and other petition docs such as I-797,I-129, LCA and USCIS support letter in another bundle). The token number and the corresponding counter are displayed on the TV in the room.
Next, I was told to go to another counter to verify my finger prints.
After fingerprint verification, I was told to go to another building for the visa interview. I was called for my interview based on my token number.

Background about my case::
First time H1B stamping. F1 student visa to H1B visa
Currently working in the US in the manufacturing sector. Masters degree from an university in the US.

The interview was very simple and straightforward, conducted by a non-Indian consular officer.

1. So you work for YYYY company?
2. What does YYYY company do?
3. How much do they pay you?

Good luck, everyone.
