H1B, H4 Visa

Hi here is about my interview, which happend on 28th of December.

I was very tensed before approaching the counter, but I lost all my tension with his cool attitude, thanks for him.

VO just browsed through my passport and found that i had a B1 visa.

VO: Does this B1 sponsered by the same petitioner?
Me: NO, its a different company
VO; which company?
Me; answered my previous company
VO: Why you switched to current company(who filed petetion)?
Me: for global exposure and better payment
VO: how did you come to know about this company ?
Me: .....
VO: What this company does?
Me: ..........
VO: What is your designation?
Me: Software Engineer
VO: what is your salary?
Me: ........per annum
VO: Where it is located?
Me: ..............
VO: What is your designation? (second time)
Me: ...........
VO: Is this in house project?
Me: ....
VO: do you have this white pamplet?
Me: yes

VO: ok I am approving your visa
Me: Thanks

I think only CONFIDENCE matters. But the confidence comes with preparation. So, look at all the docs that you have, like DS-160, LCA, i129. And prepare few lines about your role and project.

               I have been following this post for last one month and it helped me a lot for preparation of my stamping.
So now its my duty to share my experience

OFC: Doc required for ofc

DS-160
Passport and
appoinment confrimation leeter..nothing else

mobiles are allowed but needs to be switched off/silent mode
 Its very staright forward.
It will take max 30 min for complete process.

My interview was on 26th 10:00

Security ppl will allow you only before 30-40 min to stand in the queue.

Docs required for interview:
Stamped DS-160 (during ofc ) and appointment confirmation
Passport
I797- A

Other docs supporting all your information
e.g your 6 month payslip
6 month bank statement
project doc
company offer letter
all previous exp letter
I129 form
LCA doc

after security checks you will stand in different counters for finger print confirmation.
So all security checks and getting a token will take around 30 min

So after your GOLDEN token number is called ....here is the important part

so its all depend on your luck and VO...As on that day VO was in nice mood <christmas mood>he was approving all the cases....
But i guess main point is be confident and go through all the documents, company profile , your projects..

Hi,

I got 221g (white page) it has additional processing required to make final decision checkbox checked.
I got it on Dec13th.

It has case number too, when I am trying to check this case number on hyd pending status site, it says invalid.

I didnt understand why it says invalid ??.. anyone of you facing this ?.. any idea on how much time it takes for such cases.

     I was going through the experiences of Visa aspirants since my petition got approved and i am happy to share my experience....

Day 1: 23rd December 2012 - Went for Biometric @ Chennai OFC, Teynampet. My Appointment was at 13:00 Hrs and Security allowed us inside after checking "Interview appointment letter" & "DS160 Confirmation page" at 12:45 hrs. Stood in line for some time, had my Passport, Interview appointment letter & DS160 reverified at the counter, had a token number and went inside the main hall where Biometrics are taken. Waited for my turn and went for biometric counter. Had my Fingers scanned and thats it, Day 1 is over.

Day2: 26th December 2012 - My initial interview date was on 24th December but was rescheduled due to Consulate holiday. Appoitment time was same as before 8:00AM @ US Consulate Anna Salai. Reached consulate by 7:00AM and waited outside till 7:30AM. There is no need to go early and wait outside...Just go 15-30mins before scheduled interview and you can directlky go inside US Consulate.
   
       If you are carrying any mobiles or other stuff which is not allowed inside... You can deposit them at the counter outside the Chennai Consulate.

       Once allowed in to Enter , Your Appointment letter, DS160 confirmation page (Stamped or verified during Biometric) will be checked again, Bar code scanned and manually frisked before entering in to Consulate. You wil be seated in chairs as per the order of entry and directed to a counter where you will be given a token number. (This is the token you will be using for entire process). After taking the token, once again you will be asked to wait for your token to be called for checking and seperating required bundles like passport with appointment letter, BEP Letter, etc., After bundling the documents you have to go to seperate counter where your boimetric are re verified.

     From here you will eneter the main interview hall where you will be called as per the order in which Biometrics were re-verified, Wait for your turn and have your interview. Interview will be for 5-10mins max. Be relaxed, be clear, do not fumble and give crisp answer for the questions asked no need to elaborate...

I was very much terrified / Frightened before but the interview was pretty straight forward. Here are the questions i was asked....

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning Madam!!

VO: Which location you will be working?
Me: Tried to tell the name of client and its location. But she stopped and asked for Location again. Told the location

VO: Which Company you belong to?
Me: YYYY

VO: How long you were working for this company?
Me: XX Yrs

VO: Who is the client?
Me: XYZ

VO: What is your highest qualification
Me: Bachelors degree in YYYY ZZZ

VO: What will you do for this Client?
Me: I was prepared to tell few points on this, but as she was looking for staright forward answers, i told.... I will be doing YYYY work on YYYY Software

VO: How much Pay/Salary you will get while in onsite?
Me: YYYY XX $ per annum

Thats it, she said, i am approving your Visa, you will get SMS in few days, Enjoy the stay.

I thanked her and wished "Happy new year" to her...

VO:Then VO asked can you please show I797 doc
Me:Given I797 VO cross checked it and given back to me.

VO:what is you role
Me:.Please tell which was mentioned in LCA only.he wil be cross verifying if he gets some dout it was happened to one candidate infront of me

VO:what is you salary in US
Me: YYYY

VO turned to my wife and i was cool as no more questions to me

To my wife
VO:Is it Arranged marriage or love marriage

VO said your visa is approved have a nice time.we are very happy on listeneing this on e

Note:Go with mind that your visa wil be apporved as its H1B your definitely pass the interview dress well and keep eye contacting.

Background: I am from Bangalore and I am working for YYYY which is very big company, but my Visa sponsor is very small company and this is new offer from US.

I have attend my interview on 28th dec Hyderabad consulate along with my wife and kid(18 months old).
My interview at 10AM and reached at 9AM. Exactly I went to VO desk at 10AM and finished my interview in 30secs. Below are the questions asked by VO officer.

1) Currently where are you working?
2)How long you have been with ZZZ?
3) Who is your client? VO asked me spell it out the client name
4)Tell me about your client
5) What is your annual salary in US?
6) To my wife how old your Kid.

-Your visa approved you will receive your passport in a week,

My interview was pretty straight forward on 27-12-2012

Q9 Who are your clients , though I told him it's a in-house project he really wanted to know who buys our products !!

Your VISA is approved, he didn't ask me a single document !!

Similar to others I would like to thank you others who have posted their experiences. I will recommend the future interviewees to go through the previous post. It helped me prepare for the interview and I knew what to expect during the interview.
Other piece of advice I would like to give is don’t get scared and nervous seeing other interviewees visa gets rejected. There are so many categories of visa and every individual person has its own case and preparation. I was very confident about my case because I was preparing the documents from past 3 months. I didn’t really prepare the questions as I knew who I am &#61514;. You should start the preparation at least 2 months before because putting some extra effort in USA for preparation is better than getting stuck in India for 2-3 months or even worse.
So here is little background info regarding my case:-
Visa Category: H1B
Highest degree: MS in electrical engineering from US university
Stamping: First
Job Designation: Sr. Electrical Engineer
I797: Second. I changed my employer and I was issued second I797. My second I797 was issued on March 2012. I will also recommend travelling at least 3 or 4 months after your H1B approval. Because in the PIMS system, VO has full access to your documents back in KCC, USA. They check your I797 and they also have fraud detection unit that checks your company’s profile. It can take 2-3 months for KCC to update your case in their database. If your case is not updated in KCC’s database you will get 221G for sure.
Job Type: Hardware/Semiconductor. Permanent full time employee.
Experience: 3 years.
My appointment was scheduled on 27th December 2012 at 7:45 AM. Line for the interview was huge. I reached there at 6:45AM. People whose appointment was scheduled late were pushed back in the line by the officials in the consulate. So don’t reach too early.
The visa office was young dude in his early 30’s. Here’s what happened:-
Visa officer: Good morning sir
Me: Good morning Sir, how are you doing?
Visa Office: I am doing well. Sir, Can I have your passport.
I passed my passport and he starts to check my visa pages and then he see’s my F1 stamped.
Visa Office: Oh, so you did Master from YYYY University.
Me: Yes Sir.
Visa office: What did you do in the master?
Me: I did MS in EE and my specialization was Analog Design.
Visa Office: Which company you work for?
Me: YYYY .
Visa Officer: How many employees?
Me: YYYY worldwide.
Visa Officer: What do you do there?
Me: Explained in great detail………………..
Visa officer: How much they are paying you?
Me: $ YYYY XX / year
Visa Officer: OK, I am approving your visa and you will receive the passport in 2-3 business days.
I received my passport second day after my interview.

I had my Visa Interview at CHN Consulate today. Appt was a t10AM but I reached at 8:30 and was allowed in probably because I was accompanied by ma spouse and my 1 yera old kid. Things went fine till i reached the VO. She was an old lady in her fifties, and asked me

And tehn worked on her system for more than 10mns and then gave me the Pink Slip. ANd she told that Your Visa will be approved but you need to go thru one more step and plz meet ma colelague at Window 31.
Went tehre and the Indian lady took my sibling details and Height, also my Wife's.
Held My passport and told me that I will get the passport in 3-4 weeks and there is no further action required from my end. I guess This is Just because I am a Muslim.

Had my interview scheduled for 8am, but ended up interviewing at 10ish. Long wait, didn't understand how their number system worked but seemed inefficient.

As for the questions, I was asked none. Handed my passport + DS160 confirmation + 797 and after looking at it for a few seconds the person said he is issuing the visa and I will get it in a few days.

So it was a 2hr wait for a 10sec interview.
