H1 Stamping @ Hyderabad Consulate
Hi,

I'm Kiran, attended re-stamping at Hyderabad Consulate today December 28,2012.

I had my OFC on 27th Dec. Its a pretty straight forward process of just 15 mins.

Coming to the interview, I was wearing a business suit for the interview. It gave me a professional look. I suggest other too, if you can.

My appointment was at 9AM, I reached the location around 8:30 AM.
At Hyderabad Location, initially went through a security screaming typical like an Airport TSA Screening.
The entered the main Visa Services building into a long queue.
we have around 17 counters at Hyd.Consulate, first 6 dedicated to initial screening by VFS teams. Counter 9 used for finger printing re-validation. After re-validation, I joined the visa waiting area where we will get the appropriate token. It took around 10-15 minutes to be called for the interview.

The interview was kind of straight, initially we exchanged greetings then passed on the mandatory documents.
Following are the questions asked:
1. Which company do you work?
2. What do you do?
3. How much is your salary?
4. Do you work for a client?
5. Who is your client?
6. Are you on a vacation now?

It looked like he recorded ( typed in ) all my answers into the system. And finally the officer wished me for future success and said the "visa approved" word.
Key things:
1. professional dressing ( I felt this helped me a bit)
2. Know about you company and client ( some people fumbled even to pronounce their company name).
3. Be clear in communication.

Don't carry any electronic devices. They will not allow any electronic devices ( Pen Drives, Phones, CD's) etc. Period.

I'm out of the consulate by 9:50 AM.

Thanks,
Kiran

H1 Visa approved
Hi Friends ,

My H1 B VISA got approved at mumbai consulate ,

" Only Suggestion from my side is H1 B Visa will be 100% approved if all your details are valid, I mean to say
Please Carry all your supporting documents with You and Please match your details with D160 and I797"

For H1 the emphasis is only on documents and their accuracy .

 check whether all details(name,sex,place of birth.....) you filled in D160 are matching your Passport and your orizinal docs.

Be cool your H1 B will be approved any ways.

Successful H1 & H4 stamping at Mumbai
I am from Hyderabad, but with the new process anyone can go to any consulate without any issues. I went to mumbai consulate, mine was an amended petition.

Mumbai OFC, should reach just 15 mins before else you have to stay in sun, there is not single tree or shade in that area.

Mumbai Consulate, should reach min 45 mins before your interview, else you interview will be late, the full process took 1 hrs plus for us.

Question Asked
* Company Details
* Job Duties
* What happened last year that you needed Amended Petition
* Education Qualification
* Experience
* Present Company details
* Marriage date

No Question from wife.

Appointment on Dec 21st in Chennai
Thanks to immihelp for this excellent forum.Helped me a lot to prepare for the interview.

Had my OFC(fingerprinting appointment) on 20th. Had 4.30 pm appointment and there was a long queue .You dont need to bring your kid for this interview if you have a passport photo of them, but they complete the process faster if you have a child.Go just 15 mins before the interview ,its a waste of time if you go earlier.

OFC was pretty straightforward. Took photo and fingerprints and thats it. Had my child;s passport photo with me so no need to take her.

The actual interview was on Dec 21st 7.30 batch. Long queue even at 6.30am.Let us in at 7.20am.Security check was done,initial checking of I-797,DS 160 confirmation was done. The first counter they just arrange your imprtant docs,give token number and send you to another building for interview.

This was my third time H1-B stamping ,I have applied my Green Card, and my husband already stays in the US as a permenent resident.I was on break for 2 years in India due to health reasons. I got a Job offer with my previous company and they applied for my H1.

Was appliing for my kid's h4 also at the same time.No need to take your kid to interview also.

Mine was counter 19 and he was pretty cool with everyone.Here are his questions.

VO: Goodmorning

VO: Pls show your I-797 and passport and DS 160 confirmation.

VO: Which company you work for?

VO:How many employees?

VO:Who is your client?

VO: What is your salary?

VO:What is your specialization?
 (Explained in a few sentenses)

VO:Does your Husband live in US?

VO:Have you applied for greencard?

VO: OK all the best your visas are approved!!

To all you people attending interview.The KEY is CONFIDENCE, and being able to explain your line of specialization.There were others who got admin processing form etc..just becos they were not able to explain what their specialization is. Dont be nervous. I have done this 3 times and everytime it was confidence that got me visa.

All the best people !

First of all, I would like to thank you all who have posted their experience.. it helped me a lot.

My OFC was scheduled on 18th Dec 11.30 AM, and interview was on 19th 7.45 AM.

Everything went well.. here are the interview questions...

VO: Good morning sir,
me: Good morning madam, how are you doing today?
VO: I am good, thank you.

VO: Can I have your passport and petition.
me: given the PP and first page of petition

VO: Which company you are working for?
me: ZZZ

VO: What is your highest qualification?
me: Master - MBA (Master of Business Administration)

VO: Your degree is MBA and how come you are working as IT professional?
me: I also hold my Advanced diploma in computer science

VO: Is your family coming along with you to US?
me: As of now no.

VO: Are you married
me: yes

VO: Why they are not travelling with you?
me: my daughter is very small. So, now I dont have plans for them

VO: It would have better you would have processed for them along with you..
VO: Are there any plans for them in future ?
me: As of now no plans, but not sure in future. I may process for them as well.

VO: Then golden words.. I am issuing VISA for you, please read the pamplet.
me: Thank you madam..

my suggestions:
1) Be genuine while you are answering.
2) Maintain eye contact with VO
3) Give the answers to the points.. don't explain all unnecessary answers (they will take only 2 to 3 mins for each candidate, and may get irritate)
4) Be confident while answering.
5) Dont chat with beside people while you are waiting..

All the very best ...
