H1B Stamping experience in Chennai July 02
Me and my wife went together for H1 and H4 interview together on July 2nd.
Interview lasted for some 3-4 minutes.
VO: Good Morning
Me: Good Morning, How are you doing?
VO: I am doing good, Thank You !!
i passed on the set of documents tied together (both passports)
VO: So where are you going in the US
Me: City, State
VO: Can you give me the original petition filed for this case?
Me: Passed the i129, LCA and company supporting document (oroiginal i797 was already tied with the passports)
VO: So, is this an extension or Change of status?
Me: No, its a new H1 petition
VO: What is your designation in the company?
Me: Answered my designation
VO: What is your highest qualification?
Me: Answered
VO: How many years of expererience do you have?
Me: Answered
VO: Who is your client?
Me: I work on in-house projects and my company is partnered with BIG IT giants who gives leads for projects, so they are are not dependent on just 1 or 2 clients.
VO: So will you not be travelling to a different client for working on projects?
Me: NO, i will be working in my company's headquarters in the same city and state.
VO: Have you read this pamphlet (pointing me the one which was facing towards our side near the interview window)
Me: I was given one a while ago by the other officer who collected my documents but i havent read it yet.

She: My uncle is a family friend of my husband's family?

She: 15-16 years
VO: Wow! thats a long time and turned towards the computer.
After few seconds, she turned to me
VO: Everything is Approved and you will receive your passports in a week.
Wish you a good luck for your ad work in the US and do keep your pamphlet with you always and there are agencies phone numbers if in case you have any trouble with your employer.
Me: i am sure i am going to have a great career with my employer.
VO: Smiled at me and said, I am very positive about that but you stil need to know your rights.

H4 - Interview Waiver program
I have submitted the following documents at VFS chennai for my wife and kids H4 visa thru interview waiver program.
Original I797 ( spouse and kid seperately)
H1 holder - I797 copy
Passports
HDFC receipt
Recent H1b holder- Visa copy
( I tried to give cover letter and my paystubs and tax returns - However VFS person did not take it)
I have dropped the documents on 19th June, 12 in Chennai VFS office and the representative updated me that the approval may take 2-3 days average and take time some cases.
VFS site - passport status still stays , its under process at US consulate..
Can anyone advise if they have any experience or suggestions..

Recieved Stamped Passport yesterday
Hi,
Continuation to my previous post.I attended my H1B Visa on 22nd June,2012 last Friday.VO replied Need 7 to 15 days to verify and they will get back to be if any thing is required.
Week end went bad with day and night dreams regarding whether my Visa is approved or not?
When my bad dreams started fading yesterday at morning 10.47 I got a mail from VFS that my passport is with them and If I need I can collect it by 4.00 PM.
My heart began beating hard and faded dreams came back .Rushed to VFS by 1.30PM.Didnt remember if I took bath.Had to stand untill 3.00 PM in queue and collected the cover by producing HDFC reciept and identity proof(Pan card).It is a long cover and by touching the cover I observed that there are documents along with passport.My heart started beating hard thinking that they have sent the documents and passport back.I took no time in opening it and saw Stamping.I WAS IN CLOUD 9...........
Lessons learnt:
Stick to your plan and answer as per your plan what ever VO tries to get it from you.Dont slip your tongue.
