H1B Stamping in Delhi - obstacles created by VO
Hi Guys,

I am living in USA since last 6 years on H1B with my wife and two kids on H4.

I have got my I-140 approved.

As our visa was expired, we had to go for visa stamping as we were goingto India for a vacation.

We went for Visa Interview at Delhi in June 2011.

The Visa Officer asked all the questions related to my employment and work experience which I answered promptly.

He also checked the LCA document.

After this brief conversation the Visa Officer told me that everything looks fine except my Passport. He said that my passport is damaged. My passport cover was littlie up at one end which had nothing to do with any of the matter printed in the passport. The Visa Officer in an attempt to show me literally pulled the cover and tried to damage my passport.

The Visa Officer then gave me 221(g) Yellow Form and asked me to submit my New (renewed) passport. He also hold the visa for my family and told me that I need to submit the passport of my all family members in the dropbox whenever I get my New Passport.

So, the Visa Officer simply tried to hold me back in India for couple of months as the Passport renewal may take that kind of time.

I got my passport renewed in 8 days by paying Rs.15000 (which includes bribe to Passport Office) to the travel agent.

After that I submitted all our passports with Form 221(g) at Delhi Consulate.

After 10 days of submitting Passport, we received our Passports back (with the visa stamped) in it.

So, the important thing to keep in mind is - Some Visa Officers are simply looking for the ways to hold you back in India as much as possible. So, be prepared and make sure you carry all the required documents including your Passport (in great condition).

Thanks!

Successful Stamping at Chennai consulate
Hello,

I wanted to add my experience that I had at the Chennai consulate.. I got a lot of help in planning from this forum and I wish to thank everyone who spent their time and effor tin adding their experiences. My visa Interview was on November 17th at 11:45 am at the Chennai consulate. I am on EVC Model and needed to get re-stamping since my old visa had expired and I came to India for personal reasons.

I went in at 11:00 am and showed them my interview documents and they let me in. I dont think they are very strict about your interview timings.

I went through the regular process and had my documents checked and fingerprints scanned.

And then I went to the waiting room and waited for my number to be called out for interview. While I was waiting I noticed that they were approving most of the cases which had their documents right and have legitimate travel reasons. Only one case was being rejected since there was some problem with their degree.. but most of the cases I saw was being approved and so that gave me a lot of confidence.

My number was called out and I went to the window.

O: Good morning!. How are you ?
Me : Good morning. How are you ?
O: I see you are travelling to <US State where I was travelling> , correct ?
Me : that is correct.
O : Is <cilent Name> your employer ?
Me : Yes, that is correct.
O: What is your salary ?
Me : <Replied>
O : What do you do at the clients place ?
Me : <Replied>
O: Typed something for a minute and said.. I am approving yoru visa.. you should get it in 3-5 days.
Me: Thank you.

I had all the required documents, but he didnt ask for any of them. I am currently waiting for my passport to arrive.

I think with careful planning, you can sucessfully get a visa. There will a lot of nervousness and unnecessary fear about the visa approval when you are preparing for the visa interview, but trust me, be clear and confident and you will get your visa.

Can additional verification happen so soon...seemingly so!
This site sure did help me prepare for what was to come...and this is my way of thanking you!

I come from an EC model of employment looking for an H1B...am a resident of Mumbai, went for my visa interview in Delhi on 9th Nov.

I was asked for additional documents supporting my employment (221g - Green). I submitted all but two of these requested documents in Delhi the same day. The other 2 documents were received from my employer and submitted to Chennai VFS on 16th by my friend. I receive an email/text mentioning that my passport is being couriered to me. I receive it with the visa on it. But I am surprised they never mentioned in wordings that my visa was successfully approved/stamped :S

Questions asked were pretty similar to any other applicant in an EC model of employment. So do look through this forum as far as you can.

H1B Visa stamping @ hyderabad VFS office
Hello everyone,

I should first thank imhelp for this forum. It was really helped me to prepare for my interview. He rejected 2 visas and were interviewed them for 15mins.
VO was really frustrated with these two guys who came in jeans and T-shirt. VO was trying his level best to understand these guys job details and duties. But they were unable to answer some questions regarding their own position and company.
According to my experience i felt that VO's job is to give us visa. If we carry all required documents and can answer his questions. They will do there job.
My questions:
VO: gud morning can you pass your documents
ME: Yes sir. With a smile how are you?
VO: No answer
VO: which place are you going to work?
ME: YYYY X
VO: What is your company name?
ME: ZZZ
VO: what to they do?
ME: civil engineering services
VO: what is your qualification?
ME: Masters in civil engineering
VO: which university:
ME: YYYY
VO: Did you ready white pamplet?
ME: Yes sir
VO: what is that about?
ME: It consists of different types of visas and information about that visa's (I came to knew that they will give a white form and ask questions regarding that form from this forum)

thats it he dint even said congratz nor i got visa he just told ok u will get u r passport in 3-5 days... then i understood....

People if you have all documents ready and if u r confident about what you are doing in the job then u r in good hands.

I read in a web article that visa officers will pursue there masters in psychology... so see in to there eyes while answering. beg them a pardon if you cant hear them...

All the best guys. VO's are sitting in there chair's to give us VISA so don't worry just perform your best.

H1B Information
Hi,

My company has applied for the H1B (Premium). My qualification is Bachelor of Information Technology & BA (Foreign Language). I am working for a big Indian company & I have 6 years of IT experience.

My question is that since my degree is for 3 years only and that too in Language. What are the chances of getting the H1B approved.

H1B approved after 221g - after 6 months
I attended H1B visa interview on Apr 21st 2011.
The questions were pretty simple and straight forward. But unfortunately i got a Blue slip requesting for additional documents.
There were some delay in getting my documents and after all problems the docs were sent to consulate on Oct 26 2011. And i got my visa approved on Nov 14 2011.
If you produce all the documents that are genuine then no problem with the visa getting approved.
Pray god and keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks to all those who shared their experience
