Background: Did my masters in the US and been on H1B since 2015. This is my H1B extension visa interview. I work in EVC model and been with the same employer and client for the past 5 years. My last H1B visa approval was in 2017.
Appointment time: 10.30 am
Actual interview time: 12.20 pm

The VO was either typing or looking at the screen throughout the process. Did not ask me to show any documents.
At the end, he handed me a 221(g) white form with the second checkbox marked and said he cannot issue my visa at this time and that it would need additional processing. He kept my passport and said I should receive an update in 2 weeks.

Case updated: 10 Jan 2020 (Friday) - Admin processing.
Case updated: 13 Jan 2020 (Monday)- Issued.
It took about a month for AP and was never asked to submit any documents.

221g. Pending - New H1B cap exempt petition -
Hi ,
Need advice if someone has experienced the same ,Kindly help ..
My 797 validity is expired after waiting 3 month for 221g.
My employer file new H1B cap exempt petition and this got approved.
1. can I go for stamping while current 221g is pending ? OR
2. if I will go they will give AGAIN 221g since for same company ,client and location one 221g is pending ?
3. withdrawing my 221g will be good ?

221g white slip - passport request email
Hello All,
I initially had a Dropbox appointment on Nov 29th 2019 but I got a 221g white slip while collecting the passport to attend in person interview.
I attended the interview on December 2nd 2019. After the interview, I again was given the same white slip and was told that my case is under administrative processing and they would contact me once its done and my passport was retained.
After a few days I got an email to collect my passport and it was returned with the same 221g white slip.
Later on December 18th 2019, I got a call from Hyderabad Consulate to submit my LCA and Client letter copy to [email protected] which I did the same day.
Then on January 3rd 2020, I got an email from [email protected] to submit my Passport for further visa processing which I submitted on January 5th, 2020.
I wanted to ask how long does it take for visa to be issued after getting an email for passport submission and submitting it. Also does that email mean Administrative Processing is done on my case or they if they required my passport for further administrative processing?
Is anyone in the same boat where the consulate has requested for passport and has not received it after a week after submission.

Hi guys
Attend interview on 7th Jan at Delhi . Vo said your visa is approved and it will take 5 days . As of today when I check the status case updated to admin processing it will take several weeks on 10 th Jan . Any idea how long it will take .,I have return flight on 17th Jan .

was visiting India after 7+ years and had to go for interview. Went with family (wife and 2 kids, one kid is us citizen).
Gave passport and i797 to VO.
VO: whom do you work for?
Me: ZZZ
after a minute of looking at documents
VO: do you have a client?
Me: No, i am full time of employee of xxx.
VO: what do you do?
Me: I am xxx engineer and do blah blah blah.
VO: When did you get married?
Me: xxxx date (had to look at wife to confirm the year :) ).
VO: What is your salary?
Me: xxxxxx dollars per annum.

Query for H1B Stamping

My client has multiple offices in the same city.
The address in my LCA is 'Location A'. Now my project has moved from Location A to B. Now, the address I received in Client Letter has 'location B'. The same Client Letter was submitted at the time of RFE and it got approved.
The distance Between Location A and Location B is less than 3 miles. Client is still operating from both offices.
1. Will this difference in Location will be an issue during Stamping? If yes, how can I answer it?
2. What address should I mention in DS160, the one mentioned in LCA (Location A) or the actual work address mentioned in Client Letter (Location B)

The delay sucks, but overall if your VO mentioned "its approved".. you should have the AP updated as issued within ~10-15 working days worst case (i.e. keep a buffer of ~3 weeks)
Like some of you, had to cancel my flight as well, but happy its done now.
