H1B, H4 Visa

HI All,

i have my interview in chennai for h1b on march 18 2011. THe interview went smooth, until the VO looked at my petition which has diff client mentioned than my present employment. I actually work in an EVC model. the VO took all the contract agreements, Purchase order, I797, I129 and said that he will send my case to USCIS for examination. Interview went for 20 minutes where he asked all the details like my proj desc, job duties, salary,highest qualification. The VO gave me a blue slip with ticking additional administative processing, and said we will contact you if you need to siubmit your passport and returned it to me.

I have the new LCA for the job that i am doing. only thing is in the petition the client is different, but we changed the LCA for new client.

What are my chances of getting approval? Is it better to wait for the process to complete or apply new h1b in coming april? How long will it take for the process to complete or to know the status? Please anyone in this situation reply me.....

By the way the VO didn't request any additional documents from my side in the blue form.

Went to delhi for interview as i didn't get slots in Hyd or Chennai and VO asked couple of questions and handed over password and other documents after taking a copy of each and asked me wait for an answer. Not sure what went wrong and if any had same experience please let me know your experience how long did they took to get back.

I went to Delhi consulate today and was asked the standard questions about which company, since when u are working, are u married, whoz ur client, where will u b working, is there a vendor involved, do u have the client contract etc.?

I answered everything fine but never was asked to show any document...
and then at the end the VO picked up the greenslip and asked me to drop off the documents..

I told her I had the documents but she wasn't interested..said if u have it, u can drop them today and I'll take a look next week...I have dropped the documents at the VFS counter without my passport...

any idea how long it will take and how I can follow up on my status?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have got my H1B visa cleared last month. Questions asked were

VO: Good Morning Sir, how are you doing?
ME: Good Morning, I am good, thanks. How are you doing?

VO: How long are you working for **** ** company?
ME: I am currently working for **** * in Bangalore and joing **** ** company in US.

VO: Can i see your documents please?
ME: Handed over original documents.

VO: What's your highest degree?
ME: Master degree in Computer science.

VO: Your visa is approved.
ME: Thank you.

Be confident, well prepared for the question and speak with a clear voice.

Hi all,

Went to delhi embassy. BEP case with petition expiring in 5 months.

Was asked all the normal questions as mentioned in posts (salary,employer etc.)

Apart from that was asked contract or invitation letter from client. Being BEP case these are not required and I told that I don;t have these documents. also asked about not getting the visa stamped for last 2.5 years.

At last gave pink slip and no documents required to be submitted.

Can anyone let me know what are the chances of visa stamping after getting pink slip and ideally by when I can get update from embassy.

Got my H1B visa cleared today in Chennai. Its an BEP case. E-C model.

VO : SO You are working for **** company (The officer asked this question as he saw my ID card in the neck)

VO :Whats your Highest degree.?
ME :My highest Degree is Bachelors of Engineering specialized in Mechanical.

VO : Whats your Client Name ?
ME : **** of **** *

Thats it,The officer said..Your Visa is approved,you will be getting your passport in a weeks time.



Be confident,Bold and control your nervousness for just a minute.Thats it,you can easily get your Visa.

I had H1B visa stamp at New delhi Consulate on Jan 20th and I got (221)g Pink slip. Then I will received my Passport on Feb 15th with visa stamp.

Don't worry If you get Pink Slip You will defenetlly get visa but take little longer time. Be cool and enjoy.

make sure your employer can wait couple more weeks.

Thanks to Immehelp. I've got my H1B approved today from Kolkata consulate.

Here are the questions.
1) Which company will you be working for?
2) Who is your client?
3) Which location you are going to?
4) How much pay you will be getting in US?
5) Why didnt you scheduled your interview from Mumbai consulate?

And finally he said those words.. "your Visa is approved.. bbye".

What i observed is if you are a BEP applicant, they wont ask for client letter and all.
Your company impression matters a lot.

after initial process, few normal questions

VO: why are your going? Client? Highest Degree? Time of stay?

Thats it.

He said - you will receive your passport by courier in 7 days.

I got interviewwd on 7th of March 2011
Note:
- There is no Lounge and Stripes facility in Chennai,moreover it's not even mentioned clearly that this facility is closed.
- Please do not carry a Cabin Bag with you , as there is no faclity near chennai consulate for bag with more sizes.If you have a bag and in case you are stuvk you need to go to opposite side of the road and give it to a PAN shop(one old guy) will give you a receipt and will charge you 200 bucks for the same.
- At the time of Interview ,do not give air to any new question.
My employemnt model is E - C model and i had all the documents except the client letter. I went to 3th counter from left and this is how my conversation was :

me:GoodAfter Noon officer
VO:Good afternoon

VO: Can you give me you file .
me: i gave it to her

VO: so you are going for xxx company
me:yes

VO: What is your highest degree
me: Bachelor of engineering IN INformation technology

VO: Ok so tell me something about xxx company
me: xxx is a high end IT services company which provides consuling services to several clients with xx employees and generated a blaa blaaa(before i finish the answer she stopped and asked mee)

VO: If xxx is a high end consulating what is low end consulting then
me: I said Pardon me can you please come again

VO: no i m asking !!!! what does low end consulting means
me: I realized that i gave her enough air to ask one more question(and then i replied : "because it employs US people on w2 basis and it generated a revenue(she was not interested to listen to that)

VO: are you going for a in house project
me: no , i am going to work for yyy client and it is located in TTT city.

Vo: where is your work location
me: my work location is in xxx offshore development center in (city,state of the employer)

VO:(she got confused and she asked me again ) so you are going for a inhouse project
me: no my employer is located in this state and my client is located in this state and i will be going to work from my employer's development center.

VO: who is your client
me: YYY (and while answering i gave a impression that i have the contract, but she was not looking satisfied with that)

VO:she took out blue slip and started crossing some of the points in that.
me: (i was sure something went wrong but i had no option rather than just showing a smiling face on her , i could have shown all the document without being asked but i did not show it to her as i was worried if she would have asked me client letter i would have got screwed, so i decided to stay quiet with a wait n watch attitude).

VO: she took the green folder where i kept ds 160 and interview confirmation form. and everything else she returned to me and said..

VO: I need more information for your case , please drop these documents in drop box.
me: Ok , and before leaving i said Thank you officer.

So i this is how i got the 221 g blue slip , VO didnot even asked me any document and I was not satisfied with whatever happened to me , i think the "High End Consulting..." in the begining itself screwed my interview .

Suggession:
- Its not the end of the world, if you have talent and knowledge you can make money anywhere , US is not the only destination for you.
- Talk to the POint in the interview.
- ask your consultant to give all the documents (even the client letter with your name on it)
- I observed these days almost all the EVC model are getting rejected so do no go by that model( well i am not demoralizing, anyone can try taking a risk)
- if you have a dependent person(i mn spouse) accompanying you in the interview take them with you , i have seen every less rejections in that case.
- Donot get tensed even if worst things happens to you , just keep on going...
