My experience:

My interview scheduled at 8:45am but I reached consulate around 7:30am, there are already some ppl standing in queue and I was going directly to that queue without asking anyone :) , then security asked me what is ur appoinment time, I said time then he told me go that side where some ppl are standing whose appoinments are around 8:30am to : 9:15am,

After some time security called 8:45 slot ppl then went and stand in queue and asked security where to keep my mobile then he shown me a four wheeler closed vehicle (its like a road side dhobi/iron box vehicle).
I been there and they asked me to switch off mobile and pay Rs 5 and asked me to sign on a book, they given me a plastic token and a printed receipt.

I went back to queue which is near by entrance gate only. there is a one counter outside who are scanning our DS-160 confirmation CEAC barcode printed letter and giving back to us along with a receipt token number.

after that a security ..just done outline scanned with hannded on our body and asked am I carrying any electronic items, said no.

Now: finally first door opend entered inside, there another security team scanning our files each and every page and asking whether do we have pen/CD drives or any electronic items and they take all doucments and put it in a plastic tray and asked us to collect after security machine scan and there again body scan with hands, once its done we collected all our documents back from that plastic tray.

Second door opened: we entered inside building room, where ppl are sitting in chairs and some ppl are standing in queue, here token numbers were diplaying on monitiors and showing how to place our fingers on a scanning machine at scanning counter, two gal have wireless mike and announcing token number as that announcement would be helpful whoever didnt concenrate on montior token number display.

Finally my number displayed on moniter along with counter number, I been to first counter.
by the time I been there I already put some documents in BEP folder(my company didnt give any session,I just gussed what to keep in that BEP folder). I put the following docs in BEP folder

1. HDFC green receipts (two)
2. US H1B-interivew appointment letter
3. DS-160 confirmation letter
4. DS-160 application form(which was filled online and taken printout)
5. BEP Letter and covering letter
6. Original previous company exp letters
7. Original educational documents
8. H1B petion papers (original)
9. I-797B letter.

That guy inside a finger print scanned counter returned the following docs:
1. BEP covering letter
2. Original previous company exp letters
3. Original marks sheets

and told me not to put any more inside that BEP folder and returned to me and aksed me to place my right hand four fingers, after that left hand four fingers and both hands thubms at a time, scanning done.
He told me to wait in same build and my interview will be in this building only. (they are sending some ppl to another building).

I waited in same building and finally my token number called by a person who is having mike and asked me to go to counter number: 12

There are three ppl standing infront of me, all of their Visa's got approved, Finally my turn and that young interviewer asked me above mentioned questions.

--> friends its very simple questions, try to concentrate on your interviewer questions, thats it.

Thanks,
Sekhar

H1 experience in Kolkata
First of all thanks to all those who have posted their experiences before. They were of great help.
I had an appointment at the kolkata consulate at 9 am.
reached consulate at 7am. no one cares about your time...... you go right in ...
get yourself checked and keep a token and wait... once your token is called go and submit all your documents in 1 of the 3 windows ...
next .. your name will be called for ten printing...
then .... the interview .... now remember that your submitted documents have been reviewed and they have the questions ready for you...
have a happy face ... be confident ... listen carefully and give bullet point answers....
and the biggest strength should be solid paperwork ....
here's my experience
VO : good morning. how are you
me : good
VO : so tell me about your previous experiences..
me : told
VO : who is the president of your company?
me : first name .. last name
VO : what does your company do
me : told
VO : well everything looks good ... congratulations !!!
me : thank you
thats it ! not even 2 minutes ...
I had rock solid paperwork and prepared for all probable questions with one liners...

DONT listen to people who say a particular consulate isnt good. that is nonsense... every candidate is a new one.... and evaluated independantly .... they are there to give you a visa unless YOU give them a reason not to ... and remember more visas are granted than rejected ...
All the best ....

Prabhat

1st of all.. THANKS A LOT 2 all of u who had shared their experience here.

questions: Whats ur client name? where are u going 2? whats ur highest education? wats ur role?

then they approved visa!!!

My previous L1 B was rejected last month and the questions and answers(from myside) wer same for both L1 and H1 . But this time, by god's grace, its approved. The only difference I could make is: I was much confident this time and maintained eye-contact...
