First of all I would like to thank the people who posted their experiences.
My H1B VISA interview scheduled at 11:30 am and it completed by 1:15 PM
My interview is continued for 5-7 minutes. Below are the questions asked by the Lady Interviewer.
1. Which place you are going in USA?
2. Who is your client and End client?
3. How much is your salary in USA and who will pay for you?
4. You mentioed your Designation is "Computer Programmer", so what will you program in US?
5. What is your Role in your team?
6. Highest Degree?
7. You completed your degree in Metallurgical Engineering, So How will you relate to IT?
After 1 min. she completed entering all the details finally she told your VISA got approved and your Passport will reach you in a week

My experience for H1B in Hyderabad.Succeeded got approval.
My H1 Visa interview schedule time was 10:00 AM.
First of all i want to thank all the members who had posted their experiences in IMMIHELP.Its now my time to write abt my experience.
I reached the consulate exactly @9:30 AM.I showed the Passport and Appointment letter @ security and entered the office.
First i saw i queue for the security chk up it took 10 min here.They will ask for keep all the watch,Belt,Wallet in the plastic tray for chk up.after the formalities they wil give us back with in 2 min.
Next i took a walk towards VFS counter,Here i found a lady guiding for the respective counters.And recieved the HDFC recipt from the counter.
Next moved towards finger prints counter and here i provided 2 hands fore fingers first and 2 thumbs at scanner.
Next they guided me to a waiting arena where i was given a token for interview with officer.
I waited here for around 45 min,There was a electronic screens which display the token numbers and give alerts saying abt token number and respective counter numbers to visit for interview.
After 45 min i got my turn.@ counter number 11.When i went there,i saw a queue of 4 members waiting for their turn.And the officer was taking an interview for one person.Tht person got approval.The next person got the yellow slip and next was a family they too got approval.Then came my turn for the interview.

VO:Is this the first time u r appearing for H1B?

Me:Since 1 year and 3 months.

VO:Who is u r Client?
Me: IBM US.
VO:What is u r responsibility in the project?
Me: I am responsible for gathering the functional and non functinal requirements from the business users.And coordinate with teh team in india accordingly and prepare detailed design docs for the smooth impementation of the enhancements and customizations for the project.
VO:Are you going to NewYork?
Me:Yes Sir.
VO:Did u read the pamplet given to u?
Me: Yes Sir.ITs all abt Rights for me when i am staying in US.

1 Don’t give very long answer, precise and clear
2 Read you Petition properly because they ask questions from there.
3 Be cool and confident, maintain eye contact.
4 Don’t try the US accent, if you are not good in it. Just speak you natural English clearly.
5 Don’t take any bag and electronic items; you can take the plastic carry bag.

H1B approved after L1B rejection on nov 22nd at chennai consulate
Hi,
My H1B visa got approved at Chennai consulate on Nov 22nd after L1B rejection in March.
The most important thing is ..Be calm and composed. Just have this attitude in you.. 'EITHER YOU GET IT,OR YOU DONT GET IT..IT CANT GET BETTER OR WORSE'. Give it your best shot, worry about the outcome later.

I have attended the H1-B visa interview on 23 Nov 2010 in chennai. please find below the questions asked to me.
VO: r u N182 ( this is the token number which they provided while entering into consulate).
me: yes
VO: documents please.
me: i gave the entire file to her.

Me: 3 years and 5 months

Hey Guys,
Finally, its my turn to tell you my VISA interview experience at the Chennai Consulate.
My interview was scheduled at 11.00 AM in the morning. I've reached the consulate by 10.45 AM. The usual wait starts ! :) I was allowed into the consulate by 11.45 AM after validating my interview details.
I went inside the main building and waited for my Token Number to turn up on the screen (20 mins wait). I went to the counter, handed over my documents (I797, Passport, I129). I see that almost every one was sent to the second building after the document verification. But, i was asked to stay in the same building and my interview will be taken in the first counter.
I've walked towards the first counter, found a place to sit and again waited for my number to turn up! The VO was an american.. mid 30s and cool.. He called for a token number.. surprisingly, that person DID NOT turn up ! (god knows where he/she is!!!) VO waited for 2 mins.. and called the next number.
My turn came almost immediately.. here is my conversation with him..
Me: Good Afternoon, How are you ?
VO: Great. Thanks. How are you ?
Me: I'm fine ty. (Gave him the documents)
VO: (Looking at the documents, typed something in the computer)
VO: How long have you been working with xyz company ?
Me: Answered
VO: Where were you working earlier ?
Me: Answered yyy.
VO: Put your middle finger on the scanner
Me: Done.
VO: How long were you working for yyy ?
Me: Answered.
VO: Do you work on client engagements ?
Me: Answered.
VO: Okay. Sir, you will get your passport in a week's time.
Me: Thank you. Have a nice day!
VO did not ask for any documents. I know how it feels like when you are in facing the VO. Try to keep cool and answer clearly and precisely.

H1/H4 Approved @ Chennai (After L1-B reject)
The appointment time was at 12PM and we reached there by 11:00 with huge queue and the complete process took 4 hrs. After all the other process, we went to the VO at around 3:00 PM. Here is the conversation we had…
VO: Good Afternoon!!!
Me: Very Good Afternoon Sir!!!
The officer was cool and started typing on the system after he got our documents. After around 2mins, he asked for my left index finger and my wife’s right middle finger to be put on the screen. Post that he typed for 2 more mins and then started with his questions:
VO: How long you are working for ABC?
Me: X Years.
VO: How much do they Pay you?
Me: YYY K per annum
VO: What will they pay while you are in US?
Me: SSSSS per annum
VO: Who is your client
Me: ZZZ
VO: What are you going to do for them?
Me: Explained roles and responsibilities.
VO: When did you get married.
Me: In YYYY month on XX Day of YYYY year.
Then he looked at my wife and asked the following:
VO: Its for you Mam, How did you know your husband.
As my wife was a bit confused, VO again asked if it is Love/Arranged Marriage.

Visa re-validation at Mumbai consulate
I got my visa re-validation (re-stamping) done at Mumbai consulate on Nov 12. This was my 3rd H1B stamping. The previous 2 stampings were done at other consulates. These were the only questions asked:
1) Which company you work for?
Answered
2) Reason for visiting India
Ans - For visa revalidation and to visit family.
3) How will your spouse and child travel since they are not applying with you?
Ans - Child is US citizen and spouse will use AP.
The officer informed that the visa is approved, and the passport will be sent by courier. I had tons of documents but not a single document was asked. It is important to be calm and speak clearly - do not panic.
Other information:
For Mumbai consulate it is recommended to use the VFS lounge service. They would arrange for drop-off at the consulate a few minutes before the interview time, and pick you up after the interview. There are 17 counters but the token number can be called at any counter. They would call out multiple token numbers for each counter. The lines were moving pretty fast and I was done in less than 15 minutes. There is a copier machine and passport photo service inside the consulate if anyone needs it but better to have everything beforehand

ME: I have been working for CCC company for the past 2 years.
VO: What is your salary
ME: I am currently drawing SSS INR/month.
VO: Do you have any W2 forms with you ?
ME: No.
VO: Why not ?
ME: Because I have been working for CCC from India throughout the past 2 years
VO: Oh.. okay.. now I understand.
VO: What is your highest level of education ?
ME: Bachelors of Engineering, Computer Science
VO: Sir, your visa has been approved and your passport will be couriered to you in 5 working days.
The 5 working days is a general timeline they give and will not take that many days in general. Not sure about other cities, but in Chennai you can collect your passport in person from the VFS office in a day's time.
