H1B, H4 Visa

L1b refused on july 2010, planing to go H1b stamping in December monthend for the same clint and employeer.

Can i attend H1b stamping after L1b refusal?

 Just wanted to share with you my visa experience at the most unpopular Hyderabad counselate.
My visa was scheduled on Dec 2nd 2010.

I was interviewed by a lady (most of them are ladies in the counselate)

Me: Good Morning
Of: GM
Me: How are you today ?
Of: fine thank you, How about you?
Me: I am good.
Of: Where do you work ?
Me: XYZ company
Of: What did you graduate in at ABC univ?
Me: blah blah blah
Of: What do you for XYZ company
Me: blah blah blah
Of: <smiled> Thank you,mam. I need some additional documents from you. Can you goto counter M please.
Me: Thanks a lot.

At the counter, they asked us to fill in a bunch of documents and provide some additional prooofs of employement letters in US.
Finally I was told to email the VFS if I dont recieve my passport back from them within 12 weeks.!!!!!!!!!!!!
The gentleman at the other counter took my passport as well and I was told that my case is under "Adminstratively pending". I dont know what is meant by that, but I know that I will have to face 4 weeks of pressure waiting for the visa decision to come.

Will share my experience. Visa stamping date was 29th November at 8:30 am.

Reached Consulate around 7:30 am. There was a long queue in front of consulate. I think, since there was a 4 days holiday so all peoples came today. All L1-blanket were asked to move ahead in a separate queue. The officer will ask for the passport and appointment letter to hold in hand while standing in a queue. No closed bags(like leather folder) allowed, only transparent plastic bags are allowed inside – so plan accordingly. Finally around 9:30 am; was allowed to stand in another queue inside consulate for security checking. Had to remove wallet, belts, all metallic things and put it in a plastic tray. Had to walk through the body scanner with hands held high(like a criminal!!!). They will hand you a wooden stick, keep it – you will have to return when you move out of consulate.

After security scanning, they will hand you an envelope which has a confirmation page in it. They will staple your passport with a pink color token and confirmation of DS-160.(at Mumbai there is no need to take confirmation page of DS-160.) The number written on pink slip is the Token Number through which you are recognized inside the consulate. The Visa officer will call this token number so keep it handy and don’t lose it. You will be asked to move to finger print scanner at counter 1/2 depending on availability.

On Finger print scanner - The lady sitting at desk will clean your fingers using alcohol. You will have to put the left hand four fingers on the Optical scanner. Then right hand 4 fingers. Then both thumbs. In case any finger prints were not clear she will take again. She took mine 3 times.. But finally got through!! A relief.

Was asked to wait in the waiting room on chairs, as we were group of 6 peoples from same company. We kept talking-joking this made us comfortable as you will see many sad faces, sometime crying too, coming out of the VO cabin. This makes nervous. So if you go in group – it will help in relaxing.

Finally she announced the token Number. Please listen carefully – as the token number is announced only once – if you miss it, might have to wait till 3 in the evening. Was standing in queue in front of VO cabin. The guy in front of me received a yellow receipt and was rejected. That certainly was not at all comforting. As the guy came out I rushed inside.

Interview with VO –
VO – Hi Good morning
Me – Good morning mam.
VO – Token please.
Me – I said token number.
VO- The pink token in your left hand sir. Please pass it on through the down window.
(After passing the token she took out the corresponding passport, confirmation page)
VO – Why do you want to go to US?
Me – told her for project requirements
VO – Location?
Me – Client Location
VO – Client Name?
Me – Told her the client Name.
VO – Project Description?
Me – told her in 2-3 sentences about project
VO – For how long have you been working in current company?
Me – gave her the answer.
VO – Any prior experience
Me – None
VO – Will you reporting manager be at onsite or offshore?
Me – Told her.
VO – What is team size?
Me – answered
VO – How many from project are at onsite?
Me – answered.
VO – your visa is approved, you will receive passport in 3 working days.
Me – Thank you. &#61514;

Left the building instantly.. without turning back! Please check with the consulate, Some peoples(For now L1) are asked to bring extra 2000$ fee or a letter of exemption. People not bringing these fees/letter of exemption – are not allowed inside the consulate and are handed over a white paper asking them to reschedule the interview letter.

Did anyone experienced of asking the 2000$ extra fee for the H1B holders...

My H1B VISA interview scheduled at 11:30 am and it completed by 1:15 PM

My interview is continued for 5-7 minutes. Below are the questions asked by the Lady Interviewer.

1. Which place you are going in USA?
2. Who is your client and End client?
3. How much is your salary in USA and who will pay for you?
4. You mentioed your Designation is "Computer Programmer", so what will you program in US?
5. What is your Role in your team?
6. Highest Degree?
7. You completed your degree in Metallurgical Engineering, So How will you relate to IT?

After 1 min. she completed entering all the details finally she told your VISA got approved and your Passport will reach you in a week

My H1 Visa interview schedule time was 10:00 AM.

First of all i want to thank all the members who had posted their experiences in IMMIHELP.Its now my time to write abt my experience.

I reached the consulate exactly @9:30 AM.I showed the Passport and Appointment letter @ security and entered the office.
First i saw i queue for the security chk up it took 10 min here.They will ask for keep all the watch,Belt,Wallet in the plastic tray for chk up.after the formalities they wil give us back with in 2 min.
Next i took a walk towards VFS counter,Here i found a lady guiding for the respective counters.And recieved the HDFC recipt from the counter.
Next moved towards finger prints counter and here i provided 2 hands fore fingers first and 2 thumbs at scanner.
Next they guided me to a waiting arena where i was given a token for interview with officer.
I waited here for around 45 min,There was a electronic screens which display the token numbers and give alerts saying abt token number and respective counter numbers to visit for interview.
After 45 min i got my turn.@ counter number 11.When i went there,i saw a queue of 4 members waiting for their turn.And the officer was taking an interview for one person.Tht person got approval.The next person got the yellow slip and next was a family they too got approval.Then came my turn for the interview.

1 Don’t give very long answer, precise and clear
2 Read you Petition properly because they ask questions from there.
3 Be cool and confident, maintain eye contact.
4 Don’t try the US accent, if you are not good in it. Just speak you natural English clearly.
5 Don’t take any bag and electronic items; you can take the plastic carry bag.
