Hi All,

My L1B Blanket visa got rejected on January first week.My employer decided to process the H1B Premium processing to utilize the balance 2011 CAP count. But by the time employer prepare the required documents 2011 CAP count reached the max limit of 65000.

Now if my employer submit the petition for H1B premium processing, when the Petition will be approved and Visa will be granted ?

My doubt is whether petition will be processed only from October onwards or in case of Premium processing it will be processed before that.

Please help me

Still waiting for the passport.
Hi Guys,

I had attended for L1B extension visa stamping on 21-Jan-2011 and the VO said that the visa is approved. But I still did not receive my passport. It is more than 10 days and the vfs website shows the message that "Your Passport is under process at U.S Embassy/Consulate if your Visa has been approved." Please let me know if any of you also has the same issue.

Got my H1B approved @ Chennai
Hi All!,

Attended the interview for H1B along with my husband as dependent. Our interview was scheduled on 28th Jan 11:45 AM @ Chennai consulate.
My company had BEP tie-up with the consulate.. so there were very few questions.

highest degree?
what is your designation?
Client?

to my husband :
when did u get married?
arranged or love?

Thats it.. she said 'your visa is approved'!!
All done in less than 1 min!

Stay cool and answer confidently. You'll get it.
Thanx to Immihelp for posting all visa experiences which helped us to prepare a lot for the interview.

Thanks all - Approved H1B at hyderabad
Our appointment was scheduled for 28th Jan 2011 at hyd. Because there is an option to submit documents 4 days in advance at the VFS Office that is right across from the consulate,, we attempted to submit our docs. (I think this is a good option for those who are contractors because it gives the consulate time to perform background checks and verification, before you attend your interview.) I successfully submitted my docs., but the guy at the counter refused to collect my wife's docs. as a copy of the last page of her passport was missing.

On the day of our interview, we reached the consulate 30 minutes in advance, and were in front of the VO (a young chap), an hour from then. We attended the interview at the same time.

The officer asked the following, and did not ask for even a single piece of paper:
1. The type of visa we were trying to get.
2. Where my wife and I worked.
3. If we worked for the same company
4. My salary
5. Whether the project was in-house or for a client

He then stated that we would receive our passports by mail. There were 3 others in front of us, and they got their visas too. I believe they were there for H-1B stamping too.

Folks, I suggest that you go in confident and know what you are talking about. I know it is easier for me to say now, but it is not really that bad, and don't panic.
All the best everyone. The counters are much free now as there are less number of applicants through visitor visas and F1s

H1 Approved New Delhi Counslate after B1 rejection in 2009
Hi All,

First of all I would like to thanks all for having this forum online which helped me getting my H1 approval.

I had an appointment on 28 Jan 2011 at 11:15 AM, reached the counslate around 10:30 AM, completed all the security checks and was ready to face the VO by 11:00 AM.

Finally my token flashed on counter 16. I went to the counter the moment I reached there I saw the lady VO sitting there and I had in my mind that this is, I am going to get it now.

VO asked following questions:

1) Whats your current company & profile?
2) You will be working for new employed XYZ?
3) Tell me something about XYZ?
4) Which client you will be working for?
I mentioned that I am going for in house project
5) She asked me my petition document?
6) What is qualification
7) What package you will be getting in US?

VO kept on typing something or the other on the system and finally she said "WE ARE ISSUING THE VISA TO STATE".

I said Thank you so much and wished her a happy weekend.

Some Tips:

1) Don't be nervous, keep your eye contact and respond to each question promptly and calmly.
2) I was being rejected on B1 earlier but this was never asked, to be honest I was very much concerned about that
3) Do your homework? Go through these forums and your documents and prepare yourself.

I prepared for an hour or more last night and finally went through the same questions again and again till the time I felt confident.

Be confident and go ahead with one thing, you don't have anything to loose you need to win here.

BEST OF LUCK TO ALL.

smooth process
Hi,
Thanks to immihlep and to all the people who have shared their experience. it really helped me a lot to prepare my self.

I scheduled my interview on 20th of Jan. After I booked the appointment I realized that I made a small mistake in filling DS 160. So I cancelled the appointment, filled new DS 160 form and took appointment on 24th of Jan. you can cancel the appointment only once. if you cancel appointment more than once, your HDFC bar code will be deactivated for 90 days.

My interview time was at 11.15. I reached consulate at 10.20AM with my family. I have a kid who is 3 years old. I was little worried about her as she doesnt hold her ground even for a sec. we had to stand in queue for 5 min out side for security checking. token was issued and we entered inside the first building. we waited there about 5 min and our token was called in counter 3.

we stood in the queue for another couple of mins. the lady at the counter was an indian. she took our passports, DS 160 confirmation page, interview appointment letter, HDFC receipt, H1 petition documents, original I 797, and I 129 forms with the passports. She looked at my I 797 and entered my petition number and verified couple of details.

Then she kept all the documents and passports in a blue folder, gave it to me, and asked us to move to next building. we slowly walked to next building, had water on the way.

There was pin drop silence at that place. There were about 60 to 80 people in that hall. we were looking for empty seats around. before we found the seats our token was called. if you are accompanied with the kid you dont have to wait for long time any where in the consulate.

there were already 2 people in the queue. we stood there for couple of mins. My conversation went on like this.

me: Good morning officer
VO: Good morning. sorry for keep you waiting in the queue for long time. (he was supposed call me next, but he had to handle some one else case)
me: no Problem sir
VO: (took the blue folder, which has passports, hdfc receipt, DS 160 confirmation page, H1 petition docs, I 797 and I 129, scanned the DS 160 confirmation page, looked at the computer for half a minute, then took finger prints)
VO: how long have you been working in ABC
me: ABC is my future company.
VO: in which company are working currently
me: XYZ
VO: how much is your total exp? ( he was not waiting for my answers. before i finish my answer he was asking next question, i realized that visa has been approved)
me: 7 years 10 months
VO: whats your role
me ( explained him the role)
VO: do you work for client projects or inhouse projects?
me: inhouse projects
VO: whats your salary in USA
me: (told him the salary)
VO:(then looked at my wife, and asked) how long have you have been married
my wife: close to 5 years
VO: your visa has been approved. you will receive passports in one week.

The total time spent in consulate was just half an hour. we came out of the building at 11AM.others were waiting in the queue for long time. but since i went there with the kid i never had to sit and wait even for a min.
