Successful stamping at Chennai
Hi,
I thank this forum for all the help I got. I got a lot of help from this forum in preparing for my H1 interview. I used to see the posts almost every day since past 6 months.
My wife, my daughter and I went for H1 & H4 stamping at Chennai. We had our interview on 15 Sep. Scheduled time was 10 AM. We reached there at 9 AM. There was a small queue but it was moving very slow. We could enter inside the gate by 10 AM only. After that we were given lot of preference since we had a kid with us. That made it very convenient. We were immidiately asked to go to a counter where I gave DS156,157,petition papers,marriage certificate,birth certificate. The officer entered something in the PC and put everything in a greeen folder and asked us to go inside the main building. Lot of people were standing int he queue but we were asked to bypass the queue and entered the main building directly.
Then inside that we saw lot of people sitting for their turn for finger printing. We were asked to proceed directly and stand right in the front of the queu for finger printing because we had a kid with us. We did the finger printing, then we were asked to wait for our turn for interview.
Finally our turn came at around 11:30 AM. The interview went like this
VO: Hello
US: Wished him Good Morning.
VO: Responded back.
ME: Passed the folder to him.
VO:Started having a look. Saw the back of my passport. I had gone to chennai earlier in Jan 06 and had got 221g for previous petition. He asked me why I didi not pursue with that one.
ME: better offer ,.....blah blah
VO:Why u think this is better offer?
ME: blah blah
VO: what will you be doing there?
ME: blah blah
VO: show me your certificates
ME; showed him
VO: how long r u working with current company?
ME: x yrs
VO:where were u before this?
ME: company A
VO: Asked a question specefic to company A
ME: could make a head or tail of it .. asked him again ... he repeated .. still couldnt make anything out of it ... then i started saying something totally irrelevant ... then he said what it was .. he had seen that in the company A 15 yrs back ... i said i dont know abt it
VO: OK ... you are done ... go and pay the fees in counter 1
Thats it .. went and paid the fees.
I observed that lot of people were getting visa on that day .. VO looked very cool.
I hope my experience will be of help to others. Few tips:
- Be confident , be calm, dont get nervous, take a deep breath
- Wear formal dress
- dont lie .. never
- trust in GOD ... and u will get the visa

Hi ALL,
My special thanks to the Moderator who is maintaining this site and helping all the aspirants who are going to US and also others who have shared their experiences.
This site really helped me a lot in getting my H1B visa stamping, by reading from the experiences of H1B visa holders and from other people I came to know what are all the documents are required and I requested the same from my employer.
Be there not more than 15 to 20 minutes before your appointment, otherwise security persons won't allow you to enter.
and as usual and everyone aware of what next follows like checking of your appointment and passport then after entering inside they will put your documents in a folder and have to wait for your turn for finger print and VO interview.
my interview went like this...
Me: Good morning Mam
VO: Good morning
VO: took few seconds of time and asked How many years of exp do you have
ME: answered...
VO: Do you hold Masters degree
ME: yeah
VO: from which university and specialisation in which subject
ME: answered
VO: Can I have your LCA and all other supporting documents
ME: gave her all the documents whichever I received from my employer like Lease agreement,complete itenary,offer letter,project description and so on
VO: asked for previous and current employers (india) relieving, experience and offer letters
ME: gave all the documents to her
VO: went inside for around 10 minutes, came back and said all your documents are fine
ME: I was so eager to listen her next words...
VO: Your visa is approved you will get your passport within 3 working days go and pay the fee in counter no.1.
ME: said Thank you and left the counter to pay the fee.
She didn't asked me my paystubs or income tax returns anything.
Thats all friends everything went fine and almost it took me around 20 to 25 minutes of interview.
Please make sure that you maintain a eye contact with VO and be confident while answering to VO, if you are not clear ask again, they are very kind and repeat the question.

I am going to appear for my H1B in next week. I have my DS-156 and DS-157 forms. I have following questions will you pls. answer me as quickly as possible.
1) I have to print DS-156 back to back or i can print in separete sheet.
2) I made few mistake like which country issued you the passport and i replied NA..so thats a mistake i have to write INDIA..so i can change the form now..or it will be ok.
3) I want to make the DD of Rs.2400/-. Is it mandatory the DD should be of HDFC only, or it will be from any Nationalized bank like ICICI or SBI will work.

thank all, dear pl tell me that at present i m doing MCA-4 Sem IGNOU. & i got job As Business analyst. but my 1 & 2 sem result was not soo good. but i done PGDCA (POst Graducation In Diploma in Computer Application.) + MCP (Microsoft Cerified On Windows Server 2003). so is there VO arrise any problem about my MCA.
