H1B Stamping
Hi,

My H1B stamping was done on Aug 30th at Chennai. It was a peaceful process that day as it was not crowded as usual :).
There were 3 VOs present and one guy was rejecting almost all the applications that came to him. My interview just took a minute but not with the guy who was rejecting.

Lady VO: Hi, how are you doing?
Me: Good.
VO: Whats ur position in this company?
Me: Told my position.
VO: Location?
Me: NYC.
VO: Looks like your documents are in order, go and pay the visa fees.

Successful stamping H1 Visa 6th September Mumbai
Thanks to everyone for posting their experiences. A humble request to everyone of you out there, please post your experiences after your stamping is over so that others can gain out of it.

My Interview was scheduled at 9: 30 AM on 6th of september. I had taken the VFS Lounge Facility. I reached Mahalaxi at 8 AM and was admitted inside at 8 30 AM. Even though the interview was scheduled at 9: 30 we all were inside the VFS Facility until 9:45 when somebody from VFS came and announced that the interviews were running behind schedule by 20 minutes (this is quite common so do not panic). The VFS people know the status of whats going on inside the consulate so be calm. At 9: 45 the VFS bus took us to the consulate where we had to wait in a queue to get the security check done. Here we were asked to carry with us our passport, HDFC Fee receipt, DD and the apointment letter. Once the security check was done we were admitted insde.

Inside the consulate building there is a guy who arranged our documents for us in a green folder (DS 156, 157 etc the ones which we had submitted 5 working days prior to our apointment). He also gave us a pink token which was the token number written on it (the Visa Officer calls you on the basis of this token number). After that we were made to stand in a queue at counter number 1 for finger printing. Here you need to give the finger prints of your index fingers (the finger used to point in a particular direction) of both the hands. First the left hand and then the right. After this was done we had to take our seats and wait for our number to be announced.

There were 15 counters but only counters 1 to 9 were operational that day. The visa officers announce your numbers in a batch and tell you to come to a particular counter. Finally my number was announced.

ME: Morning (with a big smile)
VO: hi..

VO: y do u want to goto the united states, sir
ME: I m going to work for xxx as xxx

VO: How did you get this job
ME: blah blah blah..

VO: Do you have any friends in this company
ME: No

VO: Which school did you goto
ME: xxx

VO: what was your major
ME: xxx

VO: Please elaborate how u got this job
ME: xxx

VO: Alright your visa has been approved. You will get your passport by courier
ME: Thank you mam have a great day.

Thats it guys, she dint ask for a single document. Just answer loudly, clearly and confidently. There is nothing to be scared of (though i know its easier said than done) Rejection of the visa is not the end of the world. So just chill and be yourself.

Once again thanks to everyone for posting their experiences without which it would have been very difficult. So please please please make sure that you post your experiences after you are done.

went to AAP even after providing req docs
Hi,

I had been to Chennai consulate last week. This was my third visit. Though I have all the docs required and asked in my second 221g, I was given AAP. Second time I went with end client letter, I was issued 221g and VO said he find no issues in issuing visa if I provide the said docs(mentioned in second 221g). To my surprise it went to AAP. So guys its not just enough docs and enough preparation, you must "carry" luck which I feel out weighs many other factors.

I have few questions in my mind, what is the probability of getting visa once it goes for AAP? In my case, all the bonafides are genuine. How long will it take to finish AAP? Had any body been issued visas after AAP? I find very less or no body in this website been said so far that they got visa after AAP. Should we loose hope? What would be the process involved in AAP? Why not we can have a group (yahoo group) which discusses the AAP cases? If some thing already these, pls let me know. Does AAP mean the otherway of rejecting visa?

I went through chennai consulate website, they said for AAP - pink and blue sheets. I was given blue sheet. In which cases pink and blue sheets will be given?

Thanks in advance,
Gowthami Prakash

Be Confident
Hi Friends,

I am Abhinav, attended H1B visa on 6 Sep in Chennai.
I want to share my experience with you.

My visa appointment was at 10:15 A.M, I reached there by 9:45 A.M.
In the beginning, security check is there, where they are checking for electronic goods, cells, and any sealed envelopes, these are not allowed.
I carried a sealed envelope consisting of company photographs, tax returns and lease agreement, which was opened by me at security check only.

Later they will guide you, where to go. According to that, I went to the third counter.
Their verification of Visa Appointment Letter, DS-156, DS-157, Passport and HDFC receipt was done.

By mistake I did 3 mistakes(filling the name in native alphabet, arriving to US specific date, have u ever issued a passport (i have written NA ), the answer is INDIA) in DS-156 form, which was rounded by the person.
So I filled them and again stood in the line.

He verified and given a file(green color), consisting of some orange color slip and with the above specified documents(DS156,DS157, Passport, HDFC receipt, Appointment letter).

By the time I finished this, the time was 10:30.

So I was allowed to enter to next building to attend the interview.

There it was little bit crowd(I felt tensed), asked me to sit in the line.

I asked the guy sitting next to me, r u confident in getting the visa.
He replied, no.
The explaination given by him is, as he got
Maroon(red) file - so most percent of rejection.
Blue file - 50% chances
Green file - 90% chances

:)

Now some lady asked me to go for finger prints, I went to the counter no 8, for finger prints.
Later my chance came, I went to the VO,
the interview was like this

Me : Hallo, Madam
Vo : Hallo, Can I have the file
Me : Given the file got from the first counter
Vo : opened the passport, and next DS-156, Why u r going to US?
Me : For getting international exposure and to work in cutting edge technologies
VO : What is ur project, can u pls explain a little bit.
Me : As I don't know exactly, so I started with the technologies used in that.
VO : Ok, can I have ur MCA marks sheet
Me : haven't found the marks sheet, in the file (she is observing the file)
VO : it was there in the second column only
Me : taken and given
Vo : U know that, u should not enter to US till Sep 20.
Me : Yes Madam
VO : Go and pay the visa fee
Me : Thanks

Just this was the interview, but I have taken almost everything like US company photographs, Lease agreement, tax returns of the company, 6 months bank statements, salary slips, project description from the client, roles and responsibilitis, market analysis, company brochures, current company service letter, Id card.

In my case its complete luck, because it was rejected for 5 persons who are infront of me.
Just be confident on the things what u have. By seeing this forum only I asked everything to my consultant, but the VO hasn't asked anything except my MCA certificate.

Good Luck to all who are attending in the comming days.
