Hi all,
I got my H1b stamping on 22nd March, n my wife got H4 stamping.
Thanks to all the people who posted their exp's.
I'll brief my exp at consulate (CHENNAI) .
My slot was at 9:15 AM, reached the Chennai consulate (near Gemini fly over) by 9:00 AM.
Given the passport n appontment letter at the security check ( at the entrance). dont reach tooo eraly, as u'll made to stand outside under a tree....
After verification moved to the next step, ie., security check, where all our belongings will be checked. We should not carry any kind of electronic goods....like mobiles, cameras, cd's, floppys or any harmful things/weapons like knifes.....etc
once they check all these we will be moved to the next counter
where the filing will be done.
we need to give all the relevent docs for filing.
I797, I129, passport, visa fee receipt issued by HDFC bank, interview appointment letter, Original signed visa application forms DS-156 (do not leave any field unattended, if u don't have related info, put 'NIL' in the space given, ex. fax number, if u dont have fax number, put NIL), DS-157, etc....
don't feel tensed....
they are cooperative....so be cooool n be confident, make sure u have all the docs.
once it is done v'll be given the folder (i got the green colored folder, i donno the significance of the folder color)
the next step
we'll be moved to next building (nearby around 15 mtrs)
where finger prints will be taken, first left hand point/index finger, then right....
the person who has taken for me was a lady, she was really coool.
then the final round...
v stood in counter number 3.
almost all the people stood infront of us got the stamping.
Our turn came,
given the folder,
1) he asked me how long i've been with my current employer?
me : XX months
2) show me the proofs that u've worked with ur X-employer...?
I've given the offer letter, service letter...etc
I have also tried to give him the pay stubs....
but he said, I don't need the pay stubs...
I kept them inside my folder.
3) small query about my exp with my x-employer...
I explained him...the relevent ans...
then he studied the docs for about 4 to 5 mins ...
v r having the eye contact with him....all the time....though he was not observing us...
I think this helped us, the way we stood ( dont lean on the desk or dont put ur folderon it, I've seen many leaning ...for whom i felt he asked more queries) as he has not asked any more Q's.
He gave a peice of paper, which would be helpfull, if we face any probs with the employer, n asked us to go n pay the fee at counter 1.
tht was shock....n happiness....n suprise....wht not...
he has not asked single question to my wife...
v r out of the consulate by 10:15 AM...
It has taken only one Hr. to finish all the things...
so my dear frnds, dont be so much tensed, be confident...dont loose eye contact with the VO
success is urs....
ALL THE BEST.
