L1 VISA approved 30th November @ Chennai
Hi
I would like to share my experience at the Chennai consulate. I have applied for L1 B Blanket and when I reached the consulate It was raining heavily, there is no provision for shelter and if you reach earlier than the time specified you have to stand in the queue. So be there only 15 min before the time specified. But in my case after a quick shower, I was asked to enter the consulate.
1. As soon as you enter the consulate you have to complete the security check, Make sure you do not carry any electronic object.
2. It is always better to keep your documents in following order (3 Copies), and please carry all the other documents also , the VISA officer might ask any of the documents. But the following documents are mandatory and kept in the order I mentioned below.
a. First 8 Pages of I-129S
b. First 2 Pages of I-797
c. DS- 160 (single page)
d. DD (If carrying), though It is always better to pay the fees with credit card – skip this step if paying through credit card (Only credit card can be used not debit).
e. Passport (Original)
3. After this step you would be queued up to pay the L1 anti-fraud fee as mentioned above u can pay through Credit card or DD (Remember cash and debit cards are not accepted).
4. Now you will have to queue up to verify your finger prints (To match with the finger prints which you have given at OFC)
5. After your finger prints have matched you will be queuing up for your actual interview- My suggestion is use this time to relax yourself and concentrate only on the task for which you are there. You would be seeing other applicants going through the interview and their VISA will either get approved or rejected, so don’t bother about them and corrupt your minds. Rather make yourself firm and confident about the interview..
6. When my turn came I walked up to the Visa Officer (VO) and greeted him with smile, Make sure you smile it helps believe me, we as humans always wants to see happy faces. The conversation went something like this
Me: Good Morning
VO: Good Morning Sir, Can I have your passport
--I handed over my passport to him
VO: Are you applying for L-1 individual?
Me: No, I have applied for L-1 Blanket.
VO: In that case I would also want those documents (The set which I mentioned earlier)
--I handed over my documents to him
VO: So you work for United Health Care?
Me: Yes
VO: Would you be working for UHC or some other client, when you are in the U.S?
Me: I would be working for the same company
VO: What would be your Pay Package sir?
Me: $ YYYY XX
VO: Which place you are travelling to?
Me: Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
VO: As you have applied for L-1 what is the specialized knowledge you have?
Me: Answered.
VO: This is the first time you are travelling to the US?
Me: Yes
And he started stamping my documents and smiled at me with the golden words.
VO: Thank you so much Sir, Your Visa is approved have a comfortable stay in the US.
Me: Thank you so much, “Merry Christmas”!!!!!
VO: Merry Christmas!!!
Make sure you are confident and smiling when you are being interviewed, that will give u lot of points.
7. After the Interview you would be asked to leave through the exit. And now different people will be waiting outside to sell you different things, they are so intelligent that they will watch your expression, so be careful or get ready to get looted
8. There is a tea stall at the edge of the lane you can go to him he will charge Rs 10/per call, if you want to make a phone call to the driver if you have reserved your cab.

L1-B Blanket Rejected
Hi Everyone,

Recently, my L1-B blanket visa was not approved.

I attended my visa interview at Chennai Consulate and received 221 (G) form from Visa Officer.
Reason marked in that from is 'Your blanket L-1 application is not clearly approvable' and suggested me that he is not able to fully approve it and asked me to check with HR and initiate a proper visa once again.

a) Could anyone please suggest me what visa can I apply for now?
b) What are the precautions should I take if I am going to apply for similar kind of visa L1-B once again?
c) Is there will be any effect of this rejection in my next visa interview?

Thanks to you all in advance.

L1 A Individual Approved
Hi All,

I would like to thank first for making this page active by continues update, I am among the one who has also benefited by referring this site regularly.

Here are my experience..

VAC Appointment on– 15th Nov 9:15 AM - I was there around at 8:50 AM with my spouse and kids allowed in and it was pretty smooth photos taken for me and my spouse for kids they took the photo from the hard copy photo which was taken as per the specifications provided in the website and we came out in 15 mins Max.

Questions Asked:
1. What type of Visa is applied?
2. DOB
3. Asked to read the terms & condition page kept in front of us. (It’s only for our understanding, do not read it loudly, could see many of them were doing that)

Visa Interview on - 17th Nov 10:00 Am - I was there around 9:00 AM with my spouse and kids, shocked to see big que waiting outside the campus in the hot sun, Even though with kids we were not allowed in, waited for good 30 mins and got in around 9:30, after that it was pretty smooth and we were allowed to move fast, advantage of taking the kids, and for the kids it was very nice experience too.

We both Greeted with smile, The questions were pretty straight forward

1. What type of Visa you have applied for
2. Your petitioner name
3. How long with this company
4. Total work experience
5. Going to work for Client/or your company
6. Which place you are going in US
7. How long you will be in US

To My Spouse and Kids:

VO Greeted my Kids and Spouse

1. Your Name and Kids Name
2. How long you have been married
3. Kids Age
4. What is your highest qualification?

Then he asked us wait for 2 mins and typing something, then the golden words – Your Visa is approved enjoy your stay.

I collected the Passport with Visa in 2 working days.

Suggestion: Answer honestly and keep focus on the officer, and answer only to the questions asked.
There might be some rejections for others you see in the que, don’t bother on those things just focus on yours. Officers and very good and they are there for approving your visa as long as your case is genuine.

My total Experience 14 years
I am a manager of managers with 15+ Subordinates

Hope my experience helps others – All the Best!!!

L1 A Blanket Rejected
My Blanket Visa was rejected a few days. Below are the questions that were asked. All the questions were straight forward which are mentioned on the forum. It seems like approving any Blanket Visa off late has become very strict and also who ever appeared with family or single for L1 Blankets on the day with me were rejected.

My role: I am a manger have 10+ years of experience with my salary being above 100K.

VO: Company name
VO: What is your role here?
VO: What's your role in the US?
VO: How many people would be reporting to you and their titles
VO: What would your Salary be?
VO: Who is your client?
VO: Who would you be reporting to and his designation?
VO: Do you know who does he report to and title?
VO: Was typing on his computer for about 2-3 minutes and he told the L1A blanket visa rules are very strict and unfortunately he will not be able to proceed.asked me to get in touch with my HR and discuss other options

Good luck to all attending the interviews in the coming days.

L1A Blanket Rejected
I had my PA few days back.. my visa was rejected by vo.. the questions were the normal ones which others have already covered..
1. company name?
2. client name?
3. will you work at client location?
4. salary?
5. role?
6. number of direct reportees?
7. number of indirect reportees?

then, he rejected the visa stating L1A blanket has narrow scope..... Lot many L1 Blankets were getting rejected..this is just my observation.. Higher salary[90k+] & indirect reportee count matters a lot if you apply for managerial visa.. not trying to bring down anyone's confidence.. but with salary on lower side & with no managers reporting to you.. chances of getting blanket visa approved are slim... also luck plays a major role..

Thanks,
PHL2016

L1A Blanket Rejected
Hi Guys,

My VISA was denied at US-Chennai Consulate on Nov 16th.

Questions Asked Were -

Company you work for?
Experience?
Client?
Travelling Location?
Salary?
And then discussion started about Org Chart and went in detail. (around 3-4 minutes)

After interview ended, VO officer indicated that you are first line manager and your company very well know, which type of VISA they should go for you, apply that. At this time i cannot approve your VISA and she marked I-129 as "Not Clearly Approvable".

My personal observation being in queue for more than an hour and listening to all L1A Blankets, Salary played a important role, salary above 100K or experience >20 years were getting approved, i overheard at least 20 odd interviews and everyone was asked their salary, everyone below 100K got rejected except one, who had salary in 90's and had experience >20 years.
Again guys this is not to de-motivate anyone. Luck plays crucial part.
Best of luck for everyone.

Need inputs to apply for L2 visa
Hi,
I am a married woman and My company is applying for L1B blanket petition. I want to know from you people if it is safe to apply L2 dependent visa for my husband together with mine or separately after mine is approved.

We are married for 2 years and no kid yet. I am an IT professional and he works as consultant in well reputed consulting firm.

If I apply his L2 visa along with mine, do they think us like a potential immigrant and deny our visa?

Please share your thoughts. Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks
