L1A Blanket - Chennai - Approved
Got my L1A Blanket approved in Chennai today.

This forum is a treasure of information and have been of immense help to me for my past L1B and now L1A.

Since mine was a blanket visa so only consulate option was Chennai.

OFC: 8am
PA: same day 10am

I arrived in Chennai a day before my OFC and PA, and stayed at a close by hotel. Consulate was at 10mins walk from the hotel.
For the day OFC & PA I booked Ola rental for 2 hours starting 730 - 930am just to have peace of mind and save myself from unnecessary haggling with rickshaw drivers.

OFC Experience
I left hotel at 730 and arrived OFC at 740, at the entrance gate there is security guard who asked appointment time and let me in the compound, followed by another guard at a distance who directed us to first floor. There is a small hold up area where everyone queues up for their turn. Hardly after 5 mins our passport and appointment time was checked and we were directed to move to next floor. After waiting for another 5 more minutes and passport and appointment check we were frisked and were asked to switch off our phones. Yes phones are allowed in OFC only if you switch them off. After the frisk check our DS160 confirmation page details were matched with Passport and those whose doesn't match were sent back to get fresh DS160 confirmation with correction.
Post that we received a token and were ten printed and photo was taken. DS160 confirmation page was stamped there and we were asked to report for PA 15mins before scheduled time.
So in all I was in and out from OFC in 20 mins.
OFC Advice:
1) Do not reach more than 30mins before your appointment else you'd be not allowed in the compound and have to stand outside
2) Phone is allowed, but you've to switch it off before frisk check.

I was out of OFC by 8:05am and decided to go to Hotel and take rest. You can directly go for PA after your OFC as at consulate no body cares about your time slot unless there is huge queue outside ( If you plan to do so, please arrange to keep you phone at hotel or with someone you trust )

Interview :
ADVICE:
1) Storage facility outside consulate is shut down, DO NOT CARRY Phones, bag packs and electronic items with you or you'd be sent back.
2) There is no restrictions on the folders types, I saw people carrying their docs in transparent files, piano folder, shopping bags and even jute bags. I carried my docs in transparent files.

I reached consulate at 9:20am and there was no queue outside, hardly 2-3 people in front of me. Before you enter consulate at least 4-5 security guards will stop you and ask if are carrying phone, media, electronics etc.
Once you enter consulate you go through metal detector, then into a small hold up area where you are asked to arrange following documents in given order
1) First 8 pages of I129S followed by first page of I797. This is one set and you are asked to create 3 sets like this in total
2) Followed by above 3 sets is DS160 confirmation page of principal applicant.
3) Passport
3) Demand drafts (optional if you are paying by cards/cash)

Once you are done with the doc arrangement, the person giving you instructions fold the 3 sets individually and tie your passport with rubber bands.
After this you join the another line to enter a separate area for interviews. Before you can attend interview, you've to submit fees followed by a verification on another window. Just follow the instructions of staff there and you'd good.

After all formalities we joined the main single queue for interview, there is no token system here, you join the queue and staff at the start of queue instructs which counter to join.

My Questions:
Question: Who is your Employer
Answer: Gave Employer name

Question: For how many years you have been working for them

Answer: 2 other clients, so total 3

Question: So you’d be most senior person at the client side
Answer: Yes.

Question: What would be your role

Answer: USD YYYY K

Question: How many people reports to you at onshore

Question: Are all indirect subordinates at onshore
Answer: yes.

Question: For How long
Answer: 5 years & mentioned the dates.

one VO literally screamed at a L1A candidate, VO said "I am not here to listen to your speech, give me points and precise answers".

L1B - Got 221(g) and then Approved
Hello Everyone,
This site helped me to prepare for my interview and so I thought the same to help others by posting my experience.

I attended L1B interview on 19th Jan 2017 along with my Wife (also applied for Kid, but did not take as kids have exception).
I do not want to share the questions here, because rest all others shared. The questions are almost the same. I want to suggest
some important things to make your interview fruitful with less worries. Below is my experience

My interview went well(as what me and my wife felt). He asked me 10+ questions. I answered all of them. He asked 3 questions to my wife(education, my DOB, and how long have been married). He googled something on the specialized skill i told, and in turn asked few more questions(such as , does it contain X, does it contain Y, etc). I answered them as well. But to surprise, he said "Your case requires
Administrative processing. We will get in touch with you asking for some documents. The sooner you provide your documents, the faster
you will get your visa" . He gave me a blue slip and then written a case number. My and wife are depressed. Looked like it shattered our dreams.I have to travel immediately for project need. We could not enjoy the rest half of the day. Returned airport to catch flight to Hyderabad.

Immediately I got an email asking for documents (Letter of invite, Travel History, Resume, US POC). I was googling to get some details
reading experiences etc. I sent all the required documents after reaching home with in 4 days and waiting for the status update.
Believe me, WAITING TIME IS HARD. I keep checking the status 10-20 times a day, and very depressed to see same status "Administrative Processing" . Its been 3 weeks passed and same status. One day on 8th Feb 2017, I saw status updated as "Status Updated date to 8th Feb." .
Till then , the date remained 19th Jan 2017(the day I had interview). A piece of hope aroused in my mind, thinking that processing started at least. The next day, saw the GOLDEN STATUS "ISSUED". What a terrible waiting time, could not sleep properly, always running in my mind about the VISA etc. Finally all my prayers are fulfilled by GOD.

Thanks for reading this big story. Now here are my suggestions

1. Prepare yourself with all the questions that are being asked by looking at this site
2. Never go early before your interview slot. If your interview is 10am, reach there by 930am. This is the maximum time you can be
before your interview.
3. Always maintain smiley face when you are talking to VO. I felt I missed this while talking to VO :( (Even though i know this)
4. Never lean to the wall when you are answering questions. Stand erect
5. Always ask for information when you are proceeding from one stage to another stage right from gate entrance to gate exit
6. Maintain confidence while you are answering questions.
7. Listen to the question carefully and then answer. Take a pause if needed to answer(but not preferable always)
8. Finally put hope on GOD, and excel your interview. :)

Authorization Form for L2 (dependent visa)
Hello there!

I should first thank this forum - it was really helpful for me to prepare for interview and be confident at the time of talking to VO. Really a helpful platform...

Trust me, I stammered when I was asked the name of the State where I would be travelling - however, my take for this is, be honest and natural - don't pretend!

Now that my visa has been approved along with my dependents - I have been advised to take authorization form to collect the visa for my dependents. Wondering if folks here have any experience with this - I could see multiple formats in many websites; however I am looking for the certified one:-).

Regards, and good luck to everyone.

Lokesh

L1B-Blanket VISA Approved:15th Feb 2017-Chennai -Non IT
Thanks a lot for this immihelp forum which helped me a lot to prepare well and to get a L1B VISA

Most of the post are related to IT but still it’s helped me a lot to know the questions and co- relate for the preparation.

Some of the Non IT post are very much help full (Reason I am a Non IT guy) It gives a confidence for Non it guys

It’s my turn to give back.

Date of Interview: 15h Feb 2017; time slot: 10 AM

But no one is checking for time slot, you can go earlier than your time. And one good thing is if you go with kids then process will be faster. They will give a priority in the Q.

I attended my interview along with my family (self, wife & 3.5 years old kid)

Inside process is simple and many people are there to guide you inside

Interview Questions:
VO: Good Morning
Me: good Morning, How are you doing today?

VO: thanks you, I am doing good, How are you?
ME: Thanks you and I am good.

VO: Asked my documents
Me: passed my documents (Fee, I129S, I797, DS160 – which are bundled already at earlier counters)

VO: She was looking at my kid and saying hai and also said my kid is very cute.
Me: I was telling my kid to say hi to VO (Its opportunity to make myself comfortable to relieve my tensions)

VO: How many kids you have?
Me: one kid only. (Just made small chat with her (VO) like….One itself very tough….so naughty…VO was laughing and VO was saying to me that - your baby is very cute.)

VO: Are your working with YYYY Company
Me: I said Yes, I am working with YYYY Company

VO: Are you going to work in client location or your company location
Me: I am going to work in my company location, Broad View, Illinois

VO: what is your project?
Me: I am a YYYY engineer, working on YYYY (company) proprietary tool. My specialization is YYYY & YYYY YYYY for better performance using the tools like YYYY & YYYY which will help to improve safety and also will be done as per government regulations. (She keeps on typing in system and some time looking at me)

VO: Why you have chosen to go to US?
(I couldn’t understand the question and asked her to repeat. So she (VO) repeated the question again)
Me: I learnt this proprietary tool in XX country for a month and tried implementing in India on two projects and successfully implemented and we got a project in US and No one is there who knows this tool and I will be implementing the same. And also It should be validated for local weather conditions ZZZ

VO: What is your duration of stay?
Me: 3 years
VO: what is your salary?
Me: YYYY per annum + Company performance pay

VO: Can I ask some question to your wife?
Me; yes, You can ask

Question to wife:

VO: What is your highest education?
Wife: Electronic communication Engineering

VO: Are you working here (In India)
Wife: Yes working YYYY (IT) Company

VO: What is your kid date of birth?
Wife: Answered

Finally golden words came saying I am approving your VISA, please give me two minutes to complete all the docus.

VO: bye enjoy your US trip
Me & wife: Thank you, thanks a lot. Bye bye

I went with formals only, be confident, Try to make yourself comfortable by saying Good morning, how are you (this things will help you for initial settling). Don’t show your nerves ( I know its difficult) and if the question is not clear you can ask for repetition.

thank you guys for all posts & immihelp

Let me know if anyone needs info from me.

my experience
Hi guys:

I have found this forum very helpful and gave me a lot of confidence to face this appointment.

So today I had my appointment in US Embassy (Peru) and this is my experience.

Lot of people asking for Tourist Visa, I was one of few applying for L1B visa.

What documentation you have to take with you?
- DS 160 form
- 3 copies of I-129S
- 3 copies of I-797 (first page)
- Passport
- Receipt payment of fee : 500 USD

Questions I had to face:

VO: So you work for XYZ ?
Me: Answer

VO: How long are you working for XYZ ?
Me: Answer

VO: What is your proposed role?
Me: Answer

VO: Do you have a team in charge?
Me: Answer

VO: What is your specialization?
Me: Answer

VO: Do you have tourist visa?
Me: Answer (I have)

VO: How was the longest you stayed in US under tourist visa?
Me: Answer

VO: Where (in US) is your family living?
Me: Answer

After watching at her computer screen and filling some fields in I-129S form, I heard golden words "your visa is approbed".

My suggest:
- Be confident
- Try to practice a little bit your speech
- Read what your I-129S mentions in every field and be aware that everything is true and correct
- Smile

Hope this helps someone.

Urgent - B1 application after L1 rejection
Hi All,

My L1 Visa was rejected (not clearly approvable) in early September 2016.
My company is ready to file my B1 Visa now.

Please advice if it is suitable to proceed with it or not.
If yes, how will this impact my B1 interview?

Thanks and regards,
Monisha
