Query regarding my salary package
Hi All,

I have an interview scheduled on coming Tuesday Feb 6th.
On may 2016 my L1B blanket was rejected. Now i have applied L1B individual via premium processing and it was approved by USICS without RFE.

My salary mentioned in the petition is around 56k per annum for TX region.
If VO officer asked about the salary do i need to tell the same or i can tell some what higher amount?

Pls advice and also tell us the possibility of chance for the visa stamping??

Thanks All. Your response is much appreciated.

Regards,
Saji

L1-B Visa Approved @Chennai
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience, it was really helpful!

My wife is pregnant and it just took 20min to complete the overall process. The people working there were really helpful and gave us a priority.
1. There was a separate team to help to arrange the documents. Form I-129S, Form 1-797 (first page of the booklet) and DS-160, arranged it as three different sets. Keep your passport and Demand Draft (fraud prevention and detection fee of $500) along with it. FYI, they didn't care about Form G-28 and organization supporting letter.
2. I was sent to a counter, they took my DD and attached two sets of receipts with the first set of the booklet.
3. In the next counter, they took both of our fingerprints
4. Finally, they sent us to a VO

I had so many things running in my head and thinking about all possible aspects of the question. But the interview was really simple and VO was very cool!

Here are the questions I was asked,

VO: Very good morning, how are you doing today?
Me: Good morning, I am doing great, how are you?

VO: I am doing very well! So, you are working for XYZ company?
Me: Yes, you are right!

VO: And, you are traveling to Sunnyvale, California?
Me: Absolutely!

VO: What is your salary in the US?
Me: YYYY USD per year

VO: What is your designation in the US?
Me: Frontend Engineer

VO: What are your specialization?
Me: A very brief information about my specialization (Go through your supporting letter provided from your organization) I highlighted more about the technologies related to my organization. For example, I am specialized in company's very own development framework, company's templating engine, and company's sales tools known as blah, blah, blah which are developed by me.

VO: What is your highest qualification?
Me: Bachelor of Engineering

To my wife,

VO: What is your highest qualification?
Wife: Bachelor of Engineering

VO: How long you have been married?
Wife: XYZ

VO: What was the special food for your wedding?
Wife: XYZ

VO: What is your favorite sweet?
Wife: XYZ

VO: I am approving your visa and you can relax now! I have few things to update the system, please give me 2mins.
Me: Sure, please take your time.

Note:
1. Keep smiling and talk confidently
2. No dress code but a formal wear will look better
3. Do not see how others responds to the question
4. Go through the supporting letter provided by your organization

I was prepared for,
1. What is your specialization?
2. What do you do?
3. What will you do in the US? Or what is your purpose of the visit?
4. Why only you? Or why did they choose you for this position?
5. What is your project? Or what is special about your project?
6. What happens if you fall sick or met with an accident?
7. Good information about your tool, product or project.

All the best, Good luck!

Below are the that were asked from me.

1. Who is your company?
2. Who is your client?
3. Where are you going?
4. What is your salary?
5. Why only you?
6. What work you are going to do?
7. What is your specialization?
8. What are your roles & responsibility?
Here I explained like client coordination, Set up a team there, Hire locally, Give art direction to the team & get the closure on the design.

I kept my answers v short and to the point. and then then golden words "Your visa is approved".

L1A Blanket visa approved - Chennai
Visa was approved on 01/18 at Chennai consulate.
Sorry for posting a little late. Otherwise I really want to thank this forum for helping me understand the entire process and read their experiences which enabled me to answer quite appropriately.

My appointment was at 11.30 am but reached the consulate by 11 am itself and we were let in. I had appointment only for 3 of us (me, my wife and son). My daughter is a US citizen (living in India) hence DS-160/interview was not required., However I took her along to the interview. I was asked at the main gate on why we are 4 while appointment is for 3 people. I explained that my daughter has US passport and I wanted her to join us. He checked the passport and let me go without further questions.

At the first counter the person asked me to segregate all the documents in proper order like DS-160, I-129S, I797 in to 3 sets. They were bundled in to 3 separate sets and given back to me.

While in the queue, I could see that a couple of Visas were rejected. But I just ignored them and waited for my turn. I was in formals with a blazer. The VO was an Indian with US accent.

Q: Which company you are working for
R: YYYY XX (parent company in India)
Q: How long you are with this company
R: For the last 1.5 yrs
Q: What is the overall experience
R: xxx Years
Q. Which company you are going for
R: YYYY USA (this is a subsidiary company)
Q: What is your designation in US
R: Explained
Q: What is your salary in US
R: YYYY K USD + other benefits
Q: Where would you be working from – client location or your office
R: Our Office itself and not from client location
Q: Describe your role in US
R: I will be the Functional manager managing multiple engagements in the region overseeing delivery for various customers. I have a budgetary authority of YYYY USD and will have interaction with CXO and Directors of my clients ... (while I continued, she interrupted)
Q: Who do you report to in US
R: Our Vice president, who reports to our Senior Vice President in the region
Q: Who will report to you in US
R: I am a functional manager and will not have any one reporting to me
Q: What is your designation and role in India
R: I am a XX designation. I am managing Delivery function for multiple engagements of US with a large team and monitoring/overseeing entire delivery.
Q: How many people report to you in India
R: I have a team of about YYYY with xxxx people directly reporting to me
Q: Do these people report to you when in US
R: No. They will not

She asked couple of questions to my wife and then said my visa is Approved. Asked me to share one copy of I129S with HR and the other to show at POE.

My suggestion would be to prepare well for all the possible questions and rehearse at least 2 to 3 times before the interview.

VO Said Approved but still shows "Administrative Processing"
Thanks to every one sharing your experiences. I had the L1B interview yesterday at Chennai.
Most of the question mention below are common and feel the one pointer is to be very specific on the question asked and no need for unnecessary explanation .

I thought the my VISA got approved , but the Visa Application Status link shows its under "Administrative Processing" . is the web takes time to update or is this a matter of concern ?

VO Said Approved but still shows "Administrative Processing"

L1 L2 i94 date extension when going outside USA in Car
Hello Friends,

I have a scenario. My I94 expiry date is nearing early 2017, whereas my visa holds good until 2018 end.

If I travel to Canada from USA through Car, when I come back to USA, will I get my I94 date extended? Or should I travel only through flight to get it extended. I am getting mixed response and would like to hear some information.

Regards,
Muthu

L1B Blanket Visa Approved
Thanks to this forum which helped a lot in getting my L1 B visa stamped

Here I would like to post the VO questions and my observations during the interview process

Questions.
How long you have been working for this organization YYYY XX?
What will be ur US salary?
Which location are you travelling?
What is your specialization?(just answer maximum of 10 to 12 words which should give the meaning and purpose of your tool)
Can you pls spell me the name of the product?
What is your client?
Can you spell me the name ?
How long are you going to stay there?
Any other clients are using it?

Observations:
keep 3 sets of (I129, I797) , 1 copy of DS160 confirmation page and original passport in one folder and rest all you can keep it in some other folder as they will not be needed until explicitly asked by the VO.
Please be specific to the point when you answer (very very important).
Do not lean on the base table (glass wall) just stand straight and answer, if they need they will ask you to spell it in the mike.
They see your face for every question it is not like they do not look at you at all.
They note down or search on google everything u speak (like product name, client name).
Do not give descriptive answers, just try to limit them for some words but not to the sentences, if they need it of course they will ask you for more details.
Go through your DS 160 and I129 pages thoroughly to recollect on what you have filled in.

Last but not least, there will be many kind of interviewees do not degrade urself by looking at them, every interview process is new and fresh they will not compare with
others and if they reject someone’s Visa before you it does not mean urs also , just present it well with short and crisp answers.

All the best friendz

Visa Rejected with Blue slip
Hello All,

I have attended L1B - Blanket on 27th Jan and after asking few generic questions the VO has rejected the visa with Blue slip marking "Your blanket L-1 application is not clearly approvable under section 8 CFR 214.2 (I)(ii)(D) and INA 101(a) (15)(L)."

when I check the status of my visa application in online portal, I could see it is showing as "Administrative Processing". can someone help me understanding whether the visa has rejected or there are any chances ?

Thank You..

VO: Could you repeat the Name of your Client? (Trick Question)
Me: I would be working for Parent Company not Client (Stay Adamant to your answer dont be nervous)

VO: How long you plan to Stay?
Me: Six months as of Now. If required would travel again in Future

VO: What would be your role?
Me: We have created this tool and i have to work on its enchancement plus need to train people in US to work on this tool so that i can move out to some other project.

VO: Why dont you want to Stay in US as a long term prospect?
Me; I am quite well settled in India plus my wife work over here so really dont wish to settle down over there. Henceforth handing over the detail of this tool

VO: Could you repeat where the Client is Located? (Again a Trick Question)
Me:Sir, I would be working for my Parent Comapny office located at New-York

The VO type something in the computer for the next 2 mins.
