Hello Guys,
I must really thank the admin of this forum for providing a great place for sharing L1 visa interview experiences. I have been reading this forum for almost a year and this has been really helpful for me.
Here is my experience, my VAC appointment was on 8th of March 2016 at 9.30AM and visa appointment on 9th of March 2016 at Chennai US consulate.
VAC nothing specific to mention, just carry your passports and DS-160. If you have a small kid accompanying you PLEASE CARRY A PASSPORT SIZE PHOTO as specified on the US Visa website. For my daughter, they asked for passport photo instead of taking a photo at the VAC like they did for me and my wife.
NOTE: The Chennai VAC is in the same building which has a Samsung Service centre and ICICI prudential office. There is no board or direction in the front of the building that tells you that the VAC is in the same building but you have to walk to the back of the building from where they will let you in. I think the office is in the state of renovation or something
Interview Day:
Our interview was at 9AM and we stayed at a near by hotel, which was at a walkable distance from the Embassy. So we reached the embassy at about 8.20. Please make sure you do not wear a DIGITAL watch, if you do you will have to deposit at the counter outside embassy, which will be unnecessary waste of time in case you are late, luckily in my case, we had enough time, so I backed out from the queue and went to deposit my watch.
Since our visa was L1-B under blanket, the staff after the security checks, asked us to make 3 sets of I-129S, I797, apart from our passports and the $500 DD. I had to deposit the DD at the first counter, after verifying our finger prints. After all this, we were in the queue to face the VO,
TIP: Do not listen to the interview of others, they may have a different case than yours and it will unnecessarily distract you!!
I was prepared to answer most of the common questions they ask at the interview for L1-B but the questions asked to us came to us as a surprise!! Here is how it went,
ME: (VO was still busy with previous applicants docs so I wished him first) Good morning Sir
VO: Good morning, how are you?
ME: I am good thank you
VO: How long are you guys married? (Never expected this to be the first question :) )
ME: Answered
VO: How old is your daugther?
ME: Answered
VO: How long are you with your company?
ME: Answered
VO: What is your designation in India?
ME: Answered
VO: How much will be your US salary?
ME: Answered
VO: Are you going to your parent company or Client?
ME: Answered
VO: (Finally something that I had prepared so well) What will be your role in US?
ME: (At this point I was totally lost :P as I did not expect this question at the end, but I managed to answer and at one point I felt that I was never going to stop :) )
VO: (To my Wife) Maa'm what is your highest qualification? (At this point I again thought that, I am done with all the questions)
My Wife: Answered
VO: (Turning back to me again) And Sir, your's?
ME: Answered
And then the VO stamped the seal on my I-129S and I was so delighted to read that he approved our application.
And then the most anticipated words....
VO: Sir, I am approving your visa (And he handed over 2 copies of I-129S to me)
Again, I would like to thank this forum and all the people who has helped me at some point in this forum.
I would say, make a list of questions but do not expect them to come in any particular order, it may not come in the order you expect :) Be confident and answer looking at the VO.
My company applied for L1B individual under premium processing on Mar2nd and i received RFE on 8th Mar.
Do anyone has idea how much success rate for a RFE case at California service center and how long they would take to provide decision after i submit RFE reply.
L2 Visa ( Dependent Visa ) - URGENT clarification Reqauired
Hello Experts,
My L1B was approved last month. I am filling L2 visa for my wife. While i fill DS160 for her, I have mentioned My wife's father's surname wrongly. for expample My wife's father name is ramaswamy and his father name is muthuswamy. but as per his record his surname is rangaswamy. I gave surname is muthuswamy instead of Rangaswamy. will it cause any issue for her visa approval ? We bit worried about it. Can you please let me know what will be the solution for this ? She has interview next week. Please advise.
I need your help to fill in DS-160 form.
While fill in DS-160 form there will be question like "Person/entity paying for your trip" and i have selected as "Self" for my dependent..
Is that correct??
If i have selected other person then i saw that i have to fill affidavit for the applicant.
