L1A Experience at Hyderabad
Hi,

Here is my experience with Hyderabad Consulate.

My company has filed my L1A Visa in 2015 and we've received RFE. In RFE, they have asked for almost everything. Few people said that I am lucky that my petition is not rejected. You can assume how much information he has asked for.
We've submitted all the stuff and the petition got approved around Dec 1st week.
I have appeared for Biometrics on Dec 31st and for final interview on Jan 11th.

My visa officer looked cool.
Granted visas for couple of guys who are before me.
I stepped IN and greeted.
VO: Hello
Me: God Morning. How are you doing?
VO: I'm good thank you. What company do you work for?
Me: Ans
VO: What is your designation:
Me: Ans
VO: Whats your salary?
Me: Said Indian salary
VO: In US?
Me: Ans
VO: What is your highest education?
Me: Ans
VO: How many people report to you?
Me: 3 in US and 16 in India
VO: Visa is approved...
Me: Thank you!

On whole conversation, he didn't looked at me and my answers followed his question w/o any gap.
He was all at the computer and it was real quick at the window.

BUT, I shall consider that I got visa only after I get it in my hand because for my H1B, I was called again and interviewed 2nd time once they said approved. Though they approved second time too, there are chances that they might call you to ask few more questions..

Cheers guys..

All The Best for aspirants !!!

Just be confident
Hi all friends on this forum. I was reading it and it really helps.

First off, my tips for you:
1. Be super confident and smiley
2. Prepare answers to ALL possible questions BEFORE the interview. I practiced with my friend. Questions like: your salary in US, why you and not other ppl, why not person from onsite in US, etc...
3. There is a huge luck involved into getting L1 and not being Indian definitely increases your chances
4. In God trust.

And now my experience:
First day I go to the office in Mumbai to give my biometric data. Also got to visit consulate in few days for visa interview.
Interview was tough. When I was talking to VO my phone started ringing..... I cancel the call, but it calls again and again.
I pick up and say "you mother attacker don't call me sun of a beach I'm BUSY DON'T YOU KNOW THIS WORD".
Then security guy comes to me... and says please leave the building. I say no, I'm talking to VO don't you see. VO stands up and more security guys come. I don't have any other choice, so I slap the first one in the face and to second one I do hip throw and take his gun. Other security guys call for help and they evacuate everybody and say soon tanks and helicopter will come. I steal bazooka from one of them, destroyed the window and ran away. It's good I didn't leave any documents inside of the building so no way they can find my name. Later I've met those guys at a bar we had a beer and laughed at it.

In short, just be confident and act appropriately.

L1B Visa Approved
Hello Friends,

First of all , I would like to thank this amazing website which gives loads of useful info to prepare for visa interview . Thank You ImmiHelp .ImmiHelp Rocks .

My L1B Individual Visa is approved . Here is my overall experience.

BioMetric Appointment : DS160 Confirmation page,Appointment Confirmation,MRV Fee payment receipts,Passport. These are main documents needed for this appointment . There is no need of carrying all of your educational/technical/work based/personal identity based documents .No one asks for it . For your confidence/comfort you may carry if you want . I myself carried it but as i said no one looks at those documents . At end of collecting your fingerprint and photo , they will stamp on your DS160 page and will paste a sticker on back of passport . Make sure you preserve DS160 confirmation page very carefully as this stamp gets verified during main interview.

Consular Interview:DS160 Confirmation page,Appointment Confirmation,MRV Fee payment receipts,Passport,I797 approval page .These are main documents needed for this appointment . But you will need to carry many other supporting documents like I129,educational certificates, payslips, marriage certificate, marriage photo, letter to officer, offer letter, your organizational chart just in case officer wants to review in your case . Actually , all of these documents may already be part of huge pile of documents which your attorney/law guy would have submitted for petition and would have handed a copy to you .If not, collect all of them well in advance and carry all of them .

Coming back to process , get ready to stand for around 2 hours in around 5 queues during entire process unless you are accompanied by kids < 5 yrs of age .You will see yourself moving in fast lane if you attend with kids <5 yrs of age . Anyways, Dont forget to have your breakfast before you get there .

I would say keep DS160 Confirmation page,Appointment Confirmation,MRV Fee payment receipts,Passport,I797 approval page in one simple small file and rest of all documents in other file/folder.Reason being , those 5 documents are the ones which gets frequently verified in all 4 queues. So there is no point in having huge pile of documents in single file and end up searching for these documents among huge bunch of documents . Atleast have them sorted out with those 5 documents placed on top of anything else .
1st queue verifies your DS160 confirmation page, passport and Appointment confirmation.2nd queue is for security check of yourself,folders.3rd queue is to verify those 5 documents again .4th queue is to reverify your finger prints .So make sure you dont have finger cut in between Biometrics and this interview .You will then move towards 5th queue where you will be asked for type of visa whether L1 individual or blanket and will be directed towards different queues . Here's my conversation

VO:Hello
Me:Hi
VO:Which company do you work for
Me:Replied
VO:What is your total years of experience working there
Me:Replied
VO:What is your highest qualification
Me:Replied
VO:For now,we cannot convey if your visa is approved or rejected.Your case will have to go through administrative processing . You will have to wait for message/mail from us regarding further updates or steps in this process . Here's your 221g form

Obviously,i got extremely disappointed, worried and sad after hearing this . I came out and read 221g form completely . 221g form will have various reasons for administrative processing.Mine was just marked under 'Needs Administrative processing'.There were other choices to provide additional documents as part of administrative processing . Since mine was not marked under that section,i didnt had to do anything other than to wait . I was wondering why i was not asked about 'specialization,US salary, current role, project' based questions which i read in this forum as most frequently asked questions . I came back home, started browsing to understand more about administrative processing and came to conclusion that this is for security and background verification purpose and may take anytime between 1 week to 2 months .I moved my focus towards daily work and continued to pray god.No use of continuously worrying about reason for delay as we cant do anything anyways .If God wills, nothing can stop your visa from being approved . Based on DS160 application id or case number on 221g form , we can track visa status online.Mine was set to administrative processing.Obviously , i was tracking my status atleast 5 times per day.

Fortunately, after 1 week ,i saw visa status changed from administrative processing to issued, got mail after 4 hours that my passport is collected from consulate and is currently at my preferred pickup place.Pumped up with excitement, joy, happiness i rushed to collect my passport. You will need copy of your identity proof, original identity proof,DS160 confirmation page,Appointment confirmation page to collect passport.I submitted all these and lived my dream moment of seeing L1 Visa stamped on my passport . It really was amazing priceless moment.

I would say keep doing good work, pray and have faith in god, have patience and you will surely fulfill your dream of moving to USA one day. Finally , i would request you to not forget to post your experience here to help others .

All the Best Buddies .

Hi All,

Its nearly been 120 days since I my case was received with USCIS. Mine is L1A Visa Individual. But no progress since 120 days. Should I be concerned . The Last processing date is shown as July 20, 2015 for Vermont center. Does it mean I have to wait another few months. Please advise .

L1B Interview
Dear All,
My L1B Visa was approved. Sharing my experience here.
As usual, 1st day you need to attend at OFC office to give the finger prints. Please ensure your information on DS-160 and passport should match. I saw people are waiting outside the xerox center in the building premises. It is a costly process to do correction once u go there.

Okay. I was confused to reach the location. There are no sign boards to guide us. Use the below link. You need to go behind the building. Front side, it is a Samsung service center.

https://www.google.co.in/maps/place/82,+Kodambakkam+High+Rd,+Badrikari,+Tiru **** *+Nagar,+Nungambakkam,+Chennai,+Tamil+Nadu+600006/@13.0530791,80.2418394,18z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x3a52665cadcc3c09:0x33e2f36eb79d62b0

2nd day i went to consulate near the gemini flyover. I went there 30 minutes before my interview time i.e. 9:30AM. Once security check is over, we moved to inside entrance building. There a lobby office(Desi person) calling for L1B Visa candidates. He helped me and others to segregate my petition, passport, DD's and I-797. You need to write your name and passport # behind the each cheque.
After this we went into main building, there they verified my PP and finger prints. Once this is over we moved to other side of the building. There are around 6 windows. I went to the first VO window. He took my petition and asked below question.

1. Which company are you from.
xxx company.
2. How long you’ve been with this company
xxx years.
3. What’s your visa
L1B
4. What’s your specialisation.
xxx tool.
5.Did you develop this tool.
I said, we developed this then he said not 'We', I'm asking you. Then i told him, we are around xx team and i was part of the team.
6. How big is your team and what’s your role and responsibilities
we are xx all together. In my area we are 5 resources.
7. Was it implemented anywhere else.
Yes.
8. What are those clients and their names.
xxx n xxx.
9. For which client you are going to implement this.
xxx inc.,
10. What is your salary (in US)
xxxK usd
Where will you stay in US.

He took one set of 1-129(Petition) and returned the stamped 2 sets to me.

All the best.
