L1B Individual Visa Stamping - Canada or India ?
Hi All,
I had my L1B Blanket Interview on September 2014 and it got rejected. Since my husband was in US, I had to come here on H4 visa. My company agreed to apply for L1 Individual from US and the petition got approved. I have started working in the US, but I will need a stamping when I enter USA again. I am planning to visit India during July/August and thought of getting it stamped from Hyderabad consulate. Are there any chances of my L1 stamp getting rejected ?
An alternate to this can be to attend interview in Canada. Any suggestions or comments can help me in this process ?
Thankyou very much to everybody as your valuable tips and suggesion help a lot to get though the L1-B Visa.
Tips:-
Reach prior to 15 minutes of the appoinment biometric and at US consulate.
At biometric section mobile is allowed but need to switch off once you enter into the office no need to keep outside.
At Visa consulate Moblie is not allowed.
Required DS-160 and Appointment confirmation receipt only with Valid passport (Still please carry rest of the documents)
At US consulate my appointment was shedule at 11 am I have reachd to the office by 10.30 am and within 15 minutes admin process has complete ( like triplicate copy of pettition and DD submission).
US consulate (Visa officer) ask me following Question.
VO- Hello
Which company do you work for?
What is your specialisation?
how long you will be staying in US?
How much salary you will drawn and in which currency?
who is supervisor?
ok I am approving your Visa.
What I have observed that these guys have some back end preparation on our pettition and there is alraedy predetermined state of rejection and approval, accordingly these are just formalities.
Be truthful and genuine for your information every one have differnt story for rejection so it doesnot mean if any rejection dont loose confidence in my case there were lot of rejection heard but belive in your self.
No documents verified and even asked.
Hope this will help you.
Those are having appoinmetns wish you all the best!!

L1A Blanket, L2 at Chennai consulate - 5th march - approved
Few tips -
find a hotel close by. And reach only 15 minutes before.
Prepare. Prepare a set of questions that the counsellor may ask. Your answers would drive the interview, its you who drives the interview and not the counsellor. Your answers should be clear and to the point. Don mug up. Be reasonable. Be confident. And above all, be cool and relaxed. Its more of a conversation than an interview.
Be cordial. Be cognisant of the fact that counsellors conduct multiple interviews on daily basis, show your respect and acknowledge their hard work. Its a hard job.
The overall experience is very pleasing and smooth.
In almost all cases, they only looked at I-797, I-129S. But this doesn't mean you should not carry other supporting documents, you should also have all the documents like - supporting letter, current employment letter conf. letter, org chart etc.
Step 1 - wait in the line for your entry at the given appointment time.
Step 2 - enter, get your documents searched and stamped by the security staff.
Step 3 - show your ds-160 and appt. confirmation to the person sitting in the hall.
Step 4 - move to the next building. show your passport, get a token issued.
Step 5 - sit in the hall, they will ask you for your documents. They will pull out the draft, 3 copies of I-797, I-129S and your passport.
Step 6 - keep the bundle handy with you, go to the counter for submitting your draft, get a receipt.
Step 7 Move to the next hall, look at the monitors for your token no., and go to your respective counter.
Step 8 - interview.
Step 9 - once the interview is finished, collect the returned docs and move out the building and exit.
Interview experience:
Me and my wife: good morning officer.
VO: Good morning mam, good morning sir.
Me: there is a lot of reflection from the back officer.
VO: I know, cant do much about it.
Me: Thats ok officer, no problem.
VO: so tell me about XX, your company
Me: ...
VO: Good, so where would you work in US?
ME: Jersey city, which is the headquarters of XX.
VO: Who would you report to in the US?

VO: Good, how many our reportees are in the US?

[All through this while, he only looked at the second page of I129S where info about your role/salary etc. is mentioned]
[Continued working in his desktop, not sure if we had eye contact - I was looking into his eyes while talking]
VO: Scanned passport's sticker on the back multiple times. There was few seconds of silence at this point and he was working in his desktop, and then stamped all three I129s forms and marked them approved with relevant category and passed on the documents and said your visa is approved, thank you.
Me and my wife: Thank you officer, have a good day.
Final notes -
the officer was very co-cordial, asked each and very question very calmly and clearly with a pleasant and professional demeanour.
All the best, and my best wishes for everyone.
please drop a line if you would want to know anything.

I think we all should be thankful to immihelp team for creating such a wonderful site. Just to give a small background for my case. My L1-B Individual petition got rejected in 2013 after getting an RFE. This time my employer applied for L1-B Blanket visa and I was lucky this time that I got the visa.
Here are the questions asked by the VO-
1) From which company you are?
2) How long have you been working with the company?
3) Monthly salary in US?
4) What are your qualifications?
5) Where are you going?
6) What is your specialization?
7) Why the company is sending you only and not any other employee?
Small tip/Advice from my side: Just give one word answers or one sentence answer to their question and be confident.
