I had the best experience for L1A visa interview which I appeared on April 2013, in Chennai. I had reached there a day before.
I took the early appointment (like at 8.00 am) and stood their in the line (the worst part is they do not have any arrangements for seating outside the Consulate)
Once you are in, the time goes by so quickly and you are in front of the VO.
Please make sure to get 2 - 3 sets of the documents as they will want to review it. The person asking for the papers will not care to give to you properly. So be prepared to arrange it again... CALMLY!!!
I have been working for a Big Investment Firm since 4.8 yrs and had 2 promotions in India, so that latest profile that I was working under was as a Manager.
When you see the others getting rejected, please do not get tensed. I would rather suggest to ignore all those conversations and do something else.

Below are the questions that were asked:
VO : You are working for XYZ company?
Me : Yes
VO: Are you working as a Manager?
Me: Yes
VO: What is your role as a Manager?
Me: Was about to mention the long list of responsibilities that I have (but he cut me off after my 1st sentence only)
VO: What is your salary in India?
Me: XX
VO: What will be your Salary in US?
Me: XX
And then the golden words.. Your Visa is approved!!!!
My HR and the Visa documenting company always advised me that you have to answer as per your Visa applied. For Eg: if you apply for L1A - always focus on people management and your roles and responsibilities accordingly. However do not forget to focus (lil less) on the prod side of your responsibility.
If you are applying for L1B or H1 - make sure that you write and mention in ur interview, why are you the chosen to go to US (since you are specialized to do that)
My other colleague also applied for L1B in June and he too got through very easily.
The documentation should be very strong when you apply.
Hope all this helps for whoever will go through their next interview.
All the very best!!!
