L1A Ind
Hi Everyone,

I own a lot to this forum. So, finally its my turn to post experience.I went with family 2 daughters (1 US citizen) and us @Chennai consulate.

I was in US for 6 years on H1 about 3 years back and 6 months back my L1B denied.

We had fingerprinting on Thu and PAI on Friday. Fingerprinting went fine, with in 15 mins we were out. Next day went to consulate @9:50 AM our appointment time was 9:30 AM.

Directly went inside (after showing confirmation letter and security), inside also no waiting directly went to consulate builiding and got token.

We all want to get refresh, so visited washroom and I can see that now our token was not displaying as they might have waited for us sometime, and we were not around due to washroom break. Finally, again number got displayed for another window and we were first.....

Me: Good Morning!
VO: Good Morning!

VO: Visa type, L1 A Ind?
Me: Yes

VO: So, you work for ***
Me: Yes

VO: How long?
Me: 8+ years

VO: Who is your client?
Me: ***

Going through something on compute and asking questions, without eye contact

VO: Your US Sal?
ME: Answered (it is 85+)

To my wife:
I told VO that she is not comfortable in English ans asked for Hindi and asked if I can translate, she said no. Someone from inside came and ask 2 questions

1. How long you guys got married?
2. Highest education qualification

Thats all. She ask my original I 797 to see and returned it and kept 3 passport with her. 3 passports and 4 guys, she asked about other one, then she told Is your daugher US citizen? We said yes, it done.

I was little confuse at that time, as she didn't look for any docs and I thought she will stamp on I129 3 copies, I asked her about same, she told its individual so its not required. It was goo day, I haven't see anyone going back irrespective of any VISA or any counter....

With in 20-25 mins we were out.

My experience with L-1A (blanket) visa interview today:

1. Register and pass security clearance at the embassy entrance.
2. Take queue number
3. Wait for line to open for non-immigrant visa application
4. Submit all petition documents and passport to the officer for verification (STEP 1)
5. Get fingerprinting done (STEP 2)
6. Make payment - USD500 fraud prevention fee (STEP 3)
7. Do interview and receive petition documents with approval and endorsement (STEP 4)
8. Done and wait for passport return with stamping done after 3-4 days.

My interviewer questions:

1. What do you do currently?
2. Have you performed any work for the government?
3. Have you performed any work on **** ***? (specific questions related to my work)
4. How long do you intend to stay in the US?
5. Are you married?
6. Will she be following you to the US?

Outcome: Approved, and returned all documents.

L1- A Individual - Approved @ Chennai on Feb 20
Hi All,

First of all a big thanks to this forum, as I got lot and lot of valuable and reliable information regarding the Visa interviews.

Here is my experience of the day.

Biometrics:

My appointment is for 3 PM, reached OFC by 2:30 and there was not much queue, so went inside and completed all formalities and came out within 15 to 20 minutes. The docs you need to carry is 1) Original Passport 2) PAI appointment letter 3) DS-160. Thats it, no more doc they ask here.

Visa Interview:

My appointment is for 9 AM, reached counsulate by 8:15, stood up on the 9 AM queue and it took around 1 hr to get in to the counsulate. So better reach just 30 minutes before your appointment time, otherwise you have to wait unnecessarily. Here are the questions put up on me

O: Whom you work for?
Me: I work for YYYY company.

O: Who is your client?
Me: YYYY

O: Whats the client location?
Me: ZZZZZ city

O: Can you show me your I-797?
Me: Passed the doc.

Q: Did you have any client letter? (not sure what wrong assumption she had, i guess she got confused of my Visa category)
A: No

Q: Can you please give your petition copy? (after looking the petition she got herself clarified)
A: Passed the photo copy.

And finaly the most awaited response came "We issued your Visa, Wish you safe trip".

My observation: I heard and collected the data from most of my friends who appeared for L1-A individual and for all them there are very minimal and generic questions (all straight forward questions). So don't panic, be bold and confident that you get the visa. All the best !!!

L1,L2 Visa - Approved at Chennai
Hi Guys

I owe a lot to this forum and has been following this website since 4 weeks and went through all the questions to get prepared

My appointment is 8 AM for Bio Metrics and 10:30 is my OFC interview at Chennai on same date. I reached there by 7:30 - 7:40 AM as i already read in this forum don't stand well in advance in the scorching sun. Today by gods grace whether is good at Chennai. There's huge queue and security will separate the queue at one point and ask you to stand as per timeline.
I came out just in 10-15 min for Bio Metrics

The twist here is my spouse name is not exactly matching in DS-160 as per her passport and sent back to correct in DS-160. Don't worry if you just come out the Auto-wala's knows everything and they directly drop you at Internet cafe and that fellow knows all things. I was surprised to see he charged me 300 rupees just to change the name and Auto-wala dropped you again at Consulate and charged 150 Rupees.

So, PLEASE CHECK YOUR DS-160 form name exactly MATCHES as per your PASSPORT

My OFC Interview went cool and before me all are L1B applicants only. I didnt concentrated whether its approving or rejecting.

Me: Good Afternoon officer with smile
VO: Good Afternoon sir

VO: Whats your experience with your current company
Me: ZZZ

VO: Where are you going
Me:ZZZ

VO: Whats your purpose of visit sir and why only you
Me: Answered to 1st one only and by the time answering why only you, he shooted with next question

He started typing something in computer

VO: Sir, are you going to work on your company proprietary tools
Me: ZZZ

VO: Could you please explain in plain words about these tools
Me:ZZZ

He's typing in his system for 3-4 minutes and i controlled myself and then started to stamp on all my sets
with golden words "your visa approved". He took my DS-160 form and returned 2 sets for I-129 forms.

No questions asked to spouse

Finally just want to say "No need to worry". They are there to help us and to provide approved visa. If your petition is strong enough its easy to crack. Just be as yourself and prepare well for Purpose of Visit, Specialization, Why only you

chant OM VASHATKARAYA NAMAH...helps you in approving for visa related

God Bless
