L1A vs H1 question
Hello expert panel.

I am on L1A visa with Company A and my wife is on L2+EAD. Both expire 21 Oct 2014.

I got my H1B approved on 2 May 2014 with another company B and COS will take effect on 1 Oct 2014.

My wife's H1B with company C is in RFE right now. She may get approval/rejection by 1 July 2014 (Premium processing)

In the meantime, my L1 employer (company A) is asking me to file for extensions for my L1A and wife's L2.

If L1A and L2 get extended for another 2 years, will my H1B get cancelled? Or can i make a choice around September which employer to work for without exiting USA (L1 vs H1)?

Also If my wife's H1B gets approved by July, and then her L2 gets approved around October, can she choose H1 over L2 without exiting USA?

The reason for going ahead with L1/L2 extensions is they are showing some hope to file GC in EB1 category in next one or two months but nothing certain.

Thank you.

L1B Blanket Approved - Chennai
Thanks all for all the information shared. this really was of great help.
I had my interview on 28th May and it was a great experience. Not sure it was my luck or what but i was only asked one Question during my interview

Vo : GM, how are you doing?
Me: VGM. Am doing good. how abt you ?

Vo: good. Are you working for YYYY X?
Me: Yes I am.

Vo: In US for which client will you be working for?
Me :I will be working for my parent company

That was it ... he started stamping my i129 and mentioned

VO : Your Visa is approved
Me: Thank you and i was thinking was this it or do i have to do anything else.

i left the office smiling and then realized this was just 10 second interview and started and finished .

Received my passport in Mumbai office on 3rd June.

Thanks all once again for all the feedback and information it helped me a lot.

L1B Blanket approved today 4th June 2014

This forum is a sure fail safe tool for people appearing first time .. that's why I wanted to add my experience too even if it counts little.

Apart from all the standard good tips from the individuals - here is mine too - For Chennai consulate.

All the questions were standard like posted in these forums.

But remember if you are having a car with Remote lock keys again you would have to waste your time to put it in the locker and search for a 10 Rs note.

My appointment was 10.30 and when I reached in the burning sun near security it was already 11.10 and then they told me to deposit these keys.

Also I reached as early as 8.30 from the Biometrics on the same day ( finished by 8.05 AM for an 8 AM appointment) .

So from 8.30 to 10.50 I had to chase time in platforms.

So my advice never reach before 30 mins of your scheduled time. There is no correlation between the queue position and the approval process. in fact the security asked me to come 5 mins before.

L1A and L1B both got rejected
Hi all -

Our companys L1A (thats mine) and L1B my other account team members blanket visa was rejected.

For both of us we got a reply your Salary in the US does not meet the standards. Our company has strict policies on issuing HR letters. They cannot bluff it to say 100000 USD. What is the minimum salary that people have experienced if you are between 5-10 yrs or 10-15 yrs. Mine was 72K but he said its not clearly approvable.

All were simple of the simplest questions asked even small kid can answer if we prepare him well.

Dear All,

Thanks for this forum for posting the experiences, it was really useful.
I thank this forum by giving back my experiences.

I have scheduled my OFC interview at 12.30pm and I reached there by 11am.
Never reach just 15 min prior to the OFC appointment. If not, you should completely get drained outside just waiting.
Its just 20min procedure inside the OFC which includes just the biometrics.
Next day is my VISA interview appointment at 8am and I reached there by 6.30am and stood outside the line. They will allow inside office only at 8am.
It is better to reach 1 hour prior to VISA interview as you will feel good interacting with the people which reduces the stress.
I went inside at 8.15 am and the interviewer started looking very seriously into my eyes. I knew that some interviewers will never smile but I greeted him and started smiling all through with my shoulder positioned straight.
He asked me the below questions
1) Which company do you work with (Answer exactly as you mentioned in DS160)
2) What does your company do (Be very specific and 1 line answer is sufficient)
3) What do you work (Answer to the point, 2 line answer is enough, unless he asks to elaborate)
4) Work Experience
That’s it he took my passport and I left thanking him twice ?
Also it is better to prepare for the below questions too
1) Why ur company cannot replace you in US (Justify that only u have experience on this product)
2) Why only you from your team( Donot answer by saying that whole team is travelling with you as it will give wrong info by conveying that you are replacing lots of US positions. Justify that you are only working on this product for quite long and reporting to a US guy)

I prepared the day before the interview in my hotel room standing infornt of the mirror speaking the answers to my questionnaire louder and smiling all through.

Thanks
Sunny

I stayed in the US for close to 7 years on H1 and came back 10 yrs ago. I'm planing to go back if my visa gets approved. Will my past experience count in any of the approval process by the VO?

Also any experience of moving kids to US aged 13 and 10... in particular thier eduction, How diff tis it when compared to India. They are US citizens, but throught thier education they are in India. Did anyone move like the way Im planning to move and could you please share your honest epxerince Please?

First I want to thank the members who have given the feedbacks on their interviews.
After going through the interviews posted here, on Last Sunday, I got really motivated.
I have biometric around 9 am and interview 11 am. Although I reached 45 minutes earlier at consulate office , due to mismanagement of the guard..and (fundamental right to come late and go first attitude of candidates ) , I remain almost last in the queue.
Nearly after standing 1hr 30 minutes in the scorching heat and humid condition, I entered the consulate office. After the initial formalities like token number , submitting drafts, I reached before VO.
No formalities from either from VO (perhaps he was in the same state like me after doing so manyinterviews) or from my side (Because the one and half hour struggle I have done under sun to get in, even I forgot the minimum decency to show).(Request guys please don’t do the mistake I have done)
Q.Please give me the bunch( Already done before by the officials of the three I -129S and passport)
A.Given him all the bunch.
Q.He has gone through that…then asked are you supervise?
A.Yes .
Q.How many onshore team member report you?
A.Direct 5 indirect 41 almost 46.
Q.Who is your manager?
A. YYYY is my manager.
Q.What is his role?
A.He act as relationship manager/delivery head for around 6 accounts of different companies.
Q.Do your act as poc for any of the discussion with the client or your manager also get involved?
A.I am single POC, If required I discuss with my manager on any issue.
Then he has checked something in computer screen for 2/3 minute and finally stamped approved.

Dear friends don’t get stressed, be positive (Don’t talk to other L1 Applicants while in queue, because they will pass their stress to you, with hot humid weather it become drowning cocktail ) go through the forum ..you will find your all the points how to face the vo.
