L1B blanket approved at Chennai!
Thanks everyone for posting your interview experience! It has been a great way to learn and be confident for the interview.

My background: I had worked for 8 years at a big semiconductor company in Bangalore. A couple of months back, I quit the job to take time off for travel and spend time with family. Recently I got in touch with my manager at US to check if he would be interested in hiring me back at the US office. He was very helpful and I got the offer from the US office in two weeks. They send me the immigration papers with all the supporting documents. I had my B1 rejected last year because the VO felt that part of the activity I would be doing at US would amount to "gainful employment" and B1 is not the right category of visa. I was also a little worried about the six month gap when I was not employed.

Interview:

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning (with a smile)

VO: Which company is sponsoring your petition?
Me: YYYY

VO: What would you be doing in the US office?
Me: Two sentences. Was cut short in the third sentence.

VO: I am approving your visa. One copy is for the HR and the the other one for travel. Thank you.
Me: Thank you (with a big smile :)).

My entire visa interview lasted less than 60 seconds! I had gone there with my wife, but the VO did not even ask her a single question! She was pretty disappointed :)

My two cents: be confident, polite and answer to the point. The single most important question for which you need to put a lot of thought and prepare well is how to market yourself as a person with "specialized knowledge".

Indirect reports for L1A visa
I have one query - I have around 4 indirect reports and around 15 reports who are direct reports of these 4 indirect reports, so in this case what is the actual count of my indirect reports is it just 4 or its actually 4+15 = 19?

basically my petition got signed with 4 indirect reports and not 19, hence I am not sure what Org chart should I present (with 4 indirect reports or with 19 indirect reports)?
Please suggest.

L1-B : Need Guidance
Hi All,

First of all, Thank you all for posting your experience, learnt a lot about the process.

I have a total of 3.4 years experience in financial domain. 2.3 years in my previous company and 1.1 in current.

I have been asked by my company to apply for L1-B category Visa. I have good communication and presentation skills and have in depth product knowledge in application that I work for. I work in a Service Based company and for a very big client.

A new project in on the way and clients want me to assist them at their site.

Most of the experiences I read in this forum, they are generally project managers or 5+ years experience seniors folks..

Is there any chance of success in my case with 3.4 years of exp, I'm more worried about my years of experience. Does that impact in anyways ?? I'm a post graduate.

You suggestions will greatly help me, as this is a turning point in my career.

Thanks in advance

Query - whether old passport is required to be presented during L2 visa?
My husband had renewed his passport in 2007 and we are unable to find his old passport, currently we again reissued our passports (to change the address) and this month we are due to attend our L1A visa interview in chennai consulate.

I am the main applicant and I have my old passport, however my husband (L2) does not have his oldest passport (he currently has 2- one old and 1-recently renewed), please suggest whether this can be a problem for us when we go for our interview?

please suggest ASAP, my interview is scheduled on 25th march 2014.

-thanks
