L1B : Intended date of travel section query
Guys,

Need a quick help on DS-160. I have submitted DS-160 and our immigration department re-schedule interview from one to another future date
Scenario: I have entered intended date of travel in DS-160 as 10-NOV-2013 my first appoint is scheduled on 04-NOV-2013. Due to some administration issues, they rescheduled to 13-NOV-2013; now intended date of travel is still DS-160 as 10-NOV-2013 which is earlier then interview date.

I cant even re-schedule now, as we can do it once.

Please let me know the possible options on we best we can solve this.

Thanks,
Adhi

My company is applying L1A blanket petition for me.
I don't have any direct reports and will be displaying my role as a functional manager(Tech Program Manager).
Has anyone got any experience in this category?
What questions can I expect?

Happy Diwali and a very big thank you to all those who shared their experiences here. It helps a big deal to calm down those nerves when you know what to expect.

I had my OFC appointment scheduled for 9:00 AM and my visa interview was at 11:00 AM on 31 Oct.

I reached the OFC center at 8:25 and was let in at 8:35. The process took about 15 mins and I was out by 8:50.
With still over 2 hours to go before my interview, I returned to the hotel which was about 10 mins drive from both the OFC center and the consulate. (Tip: Plan your stay at Alwarpet/nearby region to save time and avoid jitters about being late for your appointment).

I reached the consulate 30 mins before the interview, and had to wait at the check post. They let you past the check post 10-15 mins before the appointment time. There will be a tin shed deposit center just past the check post. You can deposit your phone/bags here for Rs. 10. Then I had to join another queue for security check. They also check you passport and appointment letter here and give you a serial number.

Once inside, you will be asked to wait, a guy will call you up according to you serial number and verify your documents and arrange them in order. Then you are asked to go to an adjacent building. Here another guy will direct you to a window where they once again check your passport and left hand finger prints and ask you to go to the cash window. Deposit your fraud prevention fee here and then wait for your serial number and interview window number to show up on the screen.

Here is how my conversation went with the the VO.

Me: GM, how are you doing?
VO: Fine, how about you?
Me: Good, thank you
VO: So which company do you work for?
Me: YYYY
VO: What does your company do?
I describe the companies activities and my business in a couple of lines.
VO: What do you do for your company?
I state my duties and my product briefly in a single line
VO: And what are you going to do in US?
I inform him about my duties, again in a single line
VO: What will me salary in the US
Me: YYYY
VO: Why do they need you in the US?
I state that I have been working with this product line for 3.5 years and the products developed by our other global offices which I have experience with.

I was expecting further questions, but he starts stamping the I 129s. Returns 2 copies saying "these are for you, your visa is approved".

I wish him a good day and leave. I did not know about the option of getting the passport delivered to your adders (after paying a fee of Rs. 300). WIll have to collect it from the Blue Dart center.

Just smile and be confident. Good Luck!!!

Then , I left the counter .................... and ..................... Forgot to Submit Courier form fro Passport , I remembered when i was in auto and had left the consulate , then i asked the Auto Wala , and he said we can fill it in OFC office ,which i did .

Big thanks to the forun. It helped me a lot to prepare myself for the interview. Here is my interview.

VO: Which company you work for?
Me: YYYY Company
VO: Which Client?
Me: ZZZ
VO: What is your specialization?
Me: I answered briefly as mentioned in petition
VO: How long you are working in the company?
Me: 9 years
VO: Have you travelled earlier under the same project?
Me: Yes in 2007, 2010 and 2011
VO: Give me more details of your earlier travel?
Me: I gave the details with start and end dates
VO: He counted the total number of months and it came to 4 years 6 months. He asked me the duration of new assignment?
Me: 12 months
VO: He said total duration under L1B is 5 yrs and I am short of 6 months to complete it. Since the new assignment is for 12 months, he expressed doubt.
Me: I explained that it is new visa and the earlier visits were not in stretch. But he said that cumulative durtion should not be more than 5 yrs.
VO: He took some time and said, OK and I am approving this time but next time you will not be eligible to travel under same visa. He approved visa for 3 yrs.
Me: Thanked him and left the counter.

Can some one explain if there is a limit of 5 years stay on L1B visa?

A big thanks to ‘Immihelp’ forum , I stress and say that without this site this would not have happened.

Please do read only this forum which gives in and out all important information.

I went with my kid (3yrs old daughter) for the interview.

Oct 25th [8.00 am ] – OFC Interview:

Please go just half an hour before otherwise you will stand unnecessarily in the queue.
I went by 7.40 am and waited for 20 minutes in the queue and by 8.00 I was asked to go inside.
I went to first floor of the building and they were organizers who help in all the process over there.

Step1 : Security checked my belongings
Step 2: They verified my Appointment Letter & DS-160 confirmation page and Passport.
Step 3: They gave me Token Number
Step 4: I went to counter as told by organizer and done with finger Print and Photo. For my daughter only photo.
Step 5: we came out

Overall it took not more than 15 mins to enter and exit.

Oct 25th [ 11.30 am ] – PAT@ US Consulate:

I think most of them covered the formalities which happens at US consulate before interview in below blogs. So I will straight way mention about my interview questions. But one point is that there are organizers who helps you everywhere so no worries at all.

VO: Which company you work for?
ME:ZZZ Company
VO: which client you are going to work for?
ME: ZZZ
VO: which city you are going to travel?
ME: UUU
VO: what are you special into?
ME: Explained my tool in one sentence.
VO: what is the purpose of the tool?
Me: explained briefly
VO:is it developed on Oracle ?
VO: was it developed by you?
VO: how many developers and testers including you?
VO: how long did it take to develop?
VO: why did your company allow you to develop X years for this tool?
VO: have you implemented this for any other client?
VO: what will you do in US?
VO: why are implementing this tool at US when you already implemented at offshore?
VO: how long you are going to be there?
VO: Your US salary ?
VO: your Indian salary?

And he started stamping my three I129 forms and said ‘I am approving your Visa’ . [God bless him ?]
And he gave me two copy of I129 and said ‘ this is yours’.

I said ‘thanks and have a great day’ with smile and left the counter with my daughter .

Then I went to courier desk and paid Rs.600 (for me and kid) to courier the passport and left happily.
Overall it took close to 7~10 mins for interview alone and 30~40 mins for overall process.

I would suggest please go through this forum regularly and prepare yourself with Responsibility , Specialization [Benefits/solutions/advantages] very clearly and be confident enough to answer all questions. On top of all please think positively which has a power that it will keep your result positive.[My sister advise worked out ?]

All the best !!

L1/L2 Individual Visa Approved 10/29/2013 Mumbai
Hello,

First of all, I really would like to thank each and every one who have contributed to this forum and have shared their experiences. Just reading your experiences have given me a mental strength to face my interview :).

My L1B was rejected last year in August 2012 with a reason stating that its not clearly approved under section 221(g).

This year, my employer filed for my L1 Individual petition in July 2013 under Premium Processing. Petition received RFE at the end of July 2013 :). Worked a lot on the RFE document preparation, supporting materials and finally on October 7, 2013, I was informed that my petition is now approved.

On 10/28/2013, our fingerprints and photo related tasks were completed at OFC center. At that time we availed for Stars and Stripes lounge services by paying 400 Rs. per person.

On 10/28/2013, I had my personal interview along with my spouse and son. If you are planning to attend interview with your family, I would strongly recommend to utilise lounge services (though they take 400 per person, best part was we didnt had to stand in any line during our visa interview process). We went to the consulate at around 09:30 AM and we were giving our interview at around 09:45 AM.

VO asked me below questions:

Which company you work for?

What's your specialization?
(Mine was L1-Individual Petition approved case). I just spoke one liner about my specialization and VO said ok.

His next questions were,

Where are you going to work?
Told him about my location of work.

So, are you going to use any software of your company?
I talked about my company's proprietary tools and its application towards the end client solution.

What's your US salary?
Answered as per Petition.

Most of the time he was typing on his computer itself :).

He didn't ask any question to my spouse.

After few seconds, he said "Your passport will be ready in 2-3 days. Thank You".

We thanked him and get out of the place :).

I think, what matters the most is your client, your company's proprietary tool and how strong you prepare your petition (For L1 Individual cases). my client's industry is very unique/rare.

And most importantly, your luck. Believe it or not, it plays it's role.

All the very best to all of you. May god help you.

Best Regards.

L1B VISA Exp @ Chennai
I'm a regular follower of this forum and got many tips which worked out well for my L1B VISA interview @ Chennai which ended up in success!! Thank you very much to all.

OFC on Hyd 22nd Oct by 11 AM - reached 10:30 - allowed - we can carry our mobiles but not any bags - a building watchman near the office taking our bags with a fee of Rs.20. - No OFC required for kids below 14.. but need to carry one Photo 2X2 inches - Finished self and spouse within 10 mins and left by 10:50

Interview @ Chennai 25th Oct 2013 by 11:30 AM. (Self, Sposue & Kid)
- Reached by 10:30 AM
- They asked our DS-160 and Passport and issued the token
- At first we need to get the current day's seal on the DS-160 and move towards the Mobile phone counter if you carry any.. coz mobiles are not allowed. - Charge for the counter is Rs.10
- Entered after security check
- Organizers asked for 3 sets of I-129S and they folded vertically half and bundled with rubber band along with our passports and the DD that we carried. Once he arranged the docs, asked to move to the other building to the counter 15
- @ the counter 15 they received our DD and asked to wait for our token number to be displayed in the monitor
- Just waited for 2 mins our token no got displayed to reach the counter 11
- The officer was a lady smiled and greeted very well.

Below are the questions.
- Which company you are working for?
- Which client?
- What are they?
- What is your specialized skills?
I answered in few lines; while I'm answering she was referring to my docs where I mentioned and finally she concluded what I said and asked below questions
- How long you are working in this tool?
- How long you have this domain experience?
- What is your Indian Salary?
- What would be your onsite Salary?

To my wife
- What is your maximum educational qualification Mam?

Thats all she started stamping the approval in all 3 of my I29S and said the most precious words your VISA is been approved, please handover the 1set to your HR and carry one set while you travelling.

Thanked her and greeted for the day and left the counter with awesome moments.

So overall it took only 40 mins for us to enter and exit.

Be confident in your skills that you mentioned - you'll win definitely.

Bye!
