L-1A Blanket Approved in Chennai along with L2
Firstly I'd like to thank all the past contributors of this forum. Honestly speaking, without their contribution I could not have made it. Hence it is my moral duty to contribute & share my experience in this forum so that whoever in need, might gain from it as I did.

OFC @ Mumbai on Jan-2013:
========================
Even though the process has been well explained in details many a times, still would like to post my experience.

Since we had travelled down from Pune, we reached there 2 hrs prior to the schedule. After standing in the sun for some time we were let in. The process was very simple. We first had a security frisking. Then our DS-160 Confirmation pages, Passport and Interview Appointment letter was asked from us. They pasted a bar code sticker on the rear of each of our passports and were let into the main hall.

Upon entering the main hall, we were given a coupon - 1 each for me & my wife. By the time we could walk to the front of the hall, our numbers were called (practically simultaneously from 2 different counters). We went to the respective counters. They took the 10-finger scan, followed by a photograph. Then we were told that we are done for the day. While walking out, a gentleman handed over a form to request for premium courier service if we would like to avail if our visa is approved.

The entire process was so quick that we did not get a time to seat! :-)

PIA @ Chennai on Jan-2013:

Going by the advice of others (posted here), we reached there just 10 min prior to the schedule and was allowed to enter 5 min past the scheduled time. Just outside the gate, the bar-code on the DS-160 was scanned and identification was done with the help of passport. Upon entering, there was a security check.

After that we were allowed to enter into the building. We encountered a total of 5 counters during the entire process:

1st Counter - There were no queue there when I reached. In this counter the bar code of one of the DS-160 was scanned and a token was issued. This was the token number for the entire process

2nd Counter - After waiting in the waiting area for sometime, our token number was flashed. Went to the queue (with 2 person waiting in front of us) in front of the respective counter. When we reached the counter, we wished each other good morning. All the documents was asked from us. The lady took the necessary documents (incl. passport) and tied them together making 2 sets - one per person. She also stapled the token to my DS-160 form. All other documents were returned. She wished us luck, and then we headed for the 3rd counter.

3rd Counter - There was also no queue here. Just walked up to the counter. Here finger prints were scanned, but only 4 fingers of one hand. Then we were asked to wait.

4th Counter - After sometime we were asked to move to another building. There we were guided to a cash counter where a lady took our demand drafts (for Blanket processing) and issued receipts for the same.

5th Counter - This was the main one. We waited to be called for the interview. After quite some time our number flashed on the screen and we walked down to the counter. There were 3 persons in front of us. When finally our time came ...

VO: Good Morning
Me & Wife: Wish you too a very good morning
(... and handed him over the sets which the lady in the 2nd counter had prepared)

VO: So you have applied for L-1A visa
Me: Yeah

VO: You are managing the ZZZ?
Me: Yes

VO: How long are you with YYYY (current) company?
Me: Answered

VO: For what duration out of that are you a manager?
Me: The entire duration

VO: Where were you working prior to that?
Me: Answered

VO: And for a duration of ...?
Me: Answered

VO: And you were a manager for the entire duration in your past organization?
Me: No, I was a manager for the last 6 months. Prior to that I was a lead.

VO: So, basically you were a manager for a total of X yrs now?
Me: Yeah

VO: What is your official designation?
Me: Answered as per my appointment records

VO: Whom do you report to in US?
Me: Mr. YYYY who is a YYYY (designation of my direct manager at onsite)

VO: You basically manage a project?
Me: Answered

VO: How many reportees do you have?
Me: As of now its 12, but even though the client has approved a budget of USD X million, we have not yet been able to start the onboarding process for the new opportunities because of the holiday season
VO: Ok

VO: What is your current salary?
Me: Answered

(Till now he has not seen my BEP letter which was issued by our immigration dept.)
Me: Do you wish to see our BEP letters?
VO: Sure, where is it?
Me: The lady has placed it in my wife's set of documents
(The VO took it out and went through it)

VO: So how long has you been married?
Me: Answered

VO (opening my passport): Ma'am, what's your husband DOB?
My Wife: Answered

VO (still looking at the passport): What is your husband's place of birth?
My Wife: Answered

VO (still looking at the passport): What is your father-in-law's name?
My Wife: Answered

VO (still looking at the passport): What is your mother-in-law's name?
My Wife: Answered

VO: What is your qualification?
My Wife: Answered

... and then, finally came the golden words :-)

We thanked him and in return he wished us luck. Walked out of the consulate in around 2 hrs since entering.

My Background:
=============
1> I am working in the IT industry for an US based renowned MNC. Prior to this I was working for another US based renowned MNC. Both these companies are counted among the top IT companies of the world. In total I've less than 10 yrs of exp
2> I wore a blazer with a tie on the day of interview - even though it was not required, but I thought that there's no harm wearing those.
3> I'd travelled a number of times to US on B-1, all were more than 6 weeks. I had mentioned the same in my DS-160.

Suggestion from my side:
=======================
1> The OFC process is very simple & very fast
2> Don't hesitate to ask for going in, in case you reach the OFC before schedule. If there's not much rush the security will allow
3> Remember to carry an umbrella or some kind of guard to protect yourselves from the scorching sun. There's no shade around the VFS office in Mumbai!
4> Even though a suit/blazer is not required, it's no harm wearing it, particularly if its L-1A - which is a managerial visa. A man always looks good in a suit/blazer.
5> Be confident - showing desperation &/or nervousness will definitely reduce your chances of getting the visa. I saw 2 person who was nervous &/or blabbering, both of them were denied a visa
6> Number of years of experience / number of reportees does not matter as long as you can justify the same being low.
7> Duration of past stays in B-1 visa does not matter as long as it is justified. For L-1A, it is very easy to justify prolong stays in B-1.
8> In case your application is under BEP category, ensure that the BEP letter is well-written and can prove to be a game-changer - most of the VOs might not ask for other documents, but will definitely go through the BEP letter. I spent a lot of time & effort in preparing that.

Hello all....

Thank you all for sharing your experiences.

My case is REJECTED .
The VO was aware of my company.
He asked my Salary , Designation and where i would be working ..

Then he rejected my application saying that my designation "Senior Database Administrator" is not suitable for L1B :(

L1Blanket Rejected
Looks VO is decided to reject my Visa. No questions and he did not even try to ask what is your specialization. Bad luck for me today.

L1 B Rejected
Looks like VO has already decided whether to approve or reject visa for a candidate.
My Interview was finished in 3-4 minutes

Below questions VO asked.

1. What is Client name?
2. How long you are working for your company.
3. What is Indian Salary?
4. What is US Salary?
5. What kind of work company is doing for this Client?
6. What's your roles and responsibilities?
7. What special knowledge you have?

Finally he said you don't have any special knowledge.
But Don't worry you skills are fine and you have answered very well.
Your company should file your visa in different category.

I hope this helps. My suggestion : Be Calm and confident. Mostly they have already decided whether they should grant you visa or not so just speak with no tension.

Thanks
Enjoy

L1B Visa under Blanket Petition - Jan 9, 2012
I would like to say thank u to this forum. This forum helped me a lot for my Visa appointment preparation albeit normally all questions are related to IT employees...

I will avoid OFC appointment details and stright forward come to the actual visa appointment . I reached US counsulate 15mins before my appointment time . After finishing my security check i went inside and got my token no. when my no was flashed on the TV screen i went and stand in the queue. the officer behind the window asked me for my 129 copy ,passport & the DD. i have paid $ 190 by using axis bank then the officer told me that i need to pay $ 500 extra fees towards blsnket L-fraud prev & detect . i got lill tensed and kept arguing with the office saying my HR never told me to pay this . I guess the rules have been chnaged .so my suggesstion to you guys is to keep sufficient cash in hand atleast INR 30,000 or credit card . They dont accept debit cards. finally the officer said to me that he will issue one letter ,using that latter i can come back to US counsulate before 11:15 along with cash. I said ok and came out ,went back to hotel took my debit card ..withdraw cash using ATM and came back ..i took all this trouble coz i tried using my credit card ther but it was not working there
by the time i reached US counsulate it was 10:30 .after completing all security check they again issued fresh token for me. when my tokan no flashed on TV screen i moved towards the respective window . they again checked my passport ,D-190 & appointment letter and asked me to get my fingerprint check at *** counter & told me to pay $ 500 fees at counter no 14.
after finsihing fingerprint check and fees payment i was waiting for my no to come. finally my token no got flsed on TV screen and i rushed to the respective counter.
VO asked me to come forward. he looked at me & smiled and said Good morning
Me: Good Morning ,Sir. How u doing?
VO: I am very well thank u.will you excuse me for a minute
me : sure sir
(he just went inside and he had quick chat with his fellow officer)
VO: sorry to keep u waiting Mam.
me: That's absolutely fine Sir.
VO: which Co do you work for ?

VO: what is ur salary in India ?
me INR **** p.a.
VO: what will be ur salary in USA?

VO: what is ur specialization ?
me : explained the specialization
VO stopped me and said but anybody can get this knowledge
me : i have explaned y this knowledge is important & critical and y am surpasses the other employee in the sme catogory ( This is lill tuff job ...i must say thta)
VO kept looking at the screen for some time and then he started putting stamp on I-129 forms .he kept my passport and one I-129 form withhim and gave back the remaining 2 forms to me saying this 2 forms for your reference......i the golden word came ...ur visa got approved u'll receive ur visa n passport by courier. thank u & hv a good day
